    My father, the mechanical engineer, had an office right next to a tool and die shop, and I had free run of both. Going from the musty ammonia smell of the old-school blueprint machine to the acrid smell of milled steel is still somthing I can remember from my childhood quite vividly. You are an artist sir, and even if the only thing I can say I have contributed is my meager views to add to your UA-cam take, I am glad to have done so. Can't wait to see what beauty you plan to share with the world. Cheers mate.

    At $300K+ USD for new M8 Cubes, that's quite an upgrade! Are you going to start producing consumer parts in volume with it (e.g. distros etc.)?
    Seems like an extraordinary expense for one-off modwork (as fantastic as each project undoubtedly is), and the new workshop certainly can't be cheap.

    • @bittech1
      @bittech1  3 роки тому +5

      Indeed my intentions here are mainly batch production of a number of parts I've wanted to make for aaaages.

    • @Foomanlol

      $300k? Why not buy a brother or robodrill with high rpm spindle option. way more versatile and half and way cheaper.

    Very awesome! Datron is the ideal machine for reservoirs and distros and Ive been saying it forever. Congrats man! I should be joining the Datron club next spring! Been one of my goals since I started machining! The controller is second to none in all of the machining world. I can guarantee it makes up a big portion of the price tag. Its going to be so nice to not have to stop my other machine to make a fixture for a new product, when RnD is done, another area the datron excels, and a new product is ready, whip up the production fixture on the Datron and pop it right into production and the production machine never misses a beat. The workflow is going to be a game changer. Cheers man! Awesome to see this!

    As an ex-Mazak CNC Service Engineer, congrats for the new machine, it will for sure improve your working conditions and parts output/quality 10 fold.
    Unfortunately I'm not in the UK or I would give you an help in the new workshop renovation and electrical and pneumatic front for free, since it was part of the installation of new machines if the customer wanted to. Some had their own team to do that and I just needed to arrive there and check if everything was in conformity and then connect the machine to said sources, then clean, assemble, level and test before delivering to the customer.

    You should try some flame polishing on the acrylic if you still end up with some of those micro lines. It might round some of the corners, so it might not be best for geometric patterns, but for things with rounded or flat surfaces it should make the acrylic perfectly clear.

    Awesome news! I always shake my head at what Linus's people are doing in their huge workshop with their bigger tools and how janky it is compared to what you deliver out of a garden shed. Gonna be great to see what you can do with a proper machine and shop. Also what you're up to with that professional CNC. I hope you'll stay with us and you'll still do unique mods like Ensis. @@bittech1 I went from a hobby mill to a haas. Biggest commitment of my life besides my house and so completely worth it. If you were like me, a lot of times you did stuff to minimize toolchanges and to not stress the machine. You can now do things the way they should be and it will be much faster and much better finishes. Hell you could start producing some of your cases instead of them being one offs.

    • @bittech1
      @bittech1  3 роки тому

      @@keithmcelhinney6993 1000% on the point about changing designs to fit the machine. So many times I've had to compromise massively in areas just to make it possible or somewhat feasible for a part. Great example is the backplate in Ensis, that thing took me two solid days and a fixture, would be like 20 minutes on the M8.

    For sure you have to go with time and get new machines but there are also cons on those nice touchy functions. Some simple processes might take longer and can be little bit complicated. But in few weeks/months you can handle those with closed eyes ^^
