Just installed this. Took me 9 hours with carefully following the video, researching torque specs, food and water breaks and a trip to the parts store for a tie rod puller AND set up and clean up. I also installed the OME driveshaft bearing spacer. No vibration at any speed. Great budget or entry level lift. Cleared 33's no rubbing on flat ground.
Great video, but failed to mentioned that truck in the video is a 4wd, and the skid plate is not required to be removed and spacers installed for a 2wd model.
You make it look so easy, great info, but unfortunately I don’t have the time and tools to do it, I have 2017 Tacoma that will love to install this lift kit, I’m Southern California..
You guys do put together a great video instruction, but you didn't note you'd need a second right hand upon rear shock installation. Lol (39:45 "we're just gonna push our bolt through")
You could potentially make contact at full droop. With 3"+ I would recommend that you upgrade the upper control arms to flatten out the suspension angles for the best drivability! Thanks for watching. :)
I have a 08 prerunner and I would very much like to fit 17 inch wheels with 10×31 inch tires. My question is will a 2inch leveling kit work or do I need to install a full suspension lift kit?. One of tour previous videos got me confused big time!
Most kits with control arms included are true suspension lifts. I'm sure you've probably learned that by now. (Not to sound arrogant. I'm just learning myself)
I bought an old 2006 Tacoma Double Cab short bed 4.0L that has been lifted 3" but the suspension on the front and rear are very stiff. What could have been the problem? Thanks.
The front is going to be slightly higher than the rear, but that will work out perfect if you ever plan to install an aftermarket bumper or bull bar. -Zach
Will this ride as smooth as a leveling kit? I’m looking to instal an ARB bumper on my 08 Taco, I would like an overall lift thats not too much but I would like it to ride smooth. I’m between this kit and a basic leveling kit.
Hi I did the 3/2 spacer and 285/70/17 tires love the look. Had a shop do it. But it has a little shiming or wobble in staining wheel around 46 to 60. But if I apply little presser on steering wheel it’s ok. I told the shop he said he has no idea what could cause that other than big tires? The alignment is good I think it’s balance friend said he read something about the Uca in a 2020 Tacoma need replacing and needle bushing in drive shaft. Getting stressed out. I tried lowering tire pressure from 35 to 30 no difference any suggestions?
Pop it in neutral at speed and make sure it's in the wheels vs something elsewhere. If it still shimmys it's definitely something rotating causing your problem. Could try a bubble balancer and weights on the rear of the rims to see if it helps and rotate hubs by hand to see if anything seems sketchy.
If you're going with a little more narrow of a 33 like a 255/85R16 or 265/75R16, you should be alright. But if you go with anything wider they may be needed. New upper control arms would be a nice addition to this kit anyway though, as it would help correct your trucks suspension geometry after lifting. -Zach
Hello, so I had this lift kit installed on my 2016 Tacoma TRD about 7 months ago. Everything seemed to be fine until 3 weeks ago when I started to hear a humming sound from the front end. It was a faint sound almost like a revving sound every 2 seconds. I could even feel it through the gas pedal & steering wheel. Could this be the needle bearing in the CV axle causing this sound? I brought the truck to a local mechanic who could not determine the exact cause other than to tell me the front end is not in aligned properly due to the lift. Any thoughts on how to remedy this issue?
Thanks for watching, AJ! We don't carry parts for the first gen Tacomas right now so I can't give you any links. But I would highly recommend looking into a set of new shocks and struts from Bilstein that give you a little but of lift. They're amazing quality and I see nothing but great feedback! -Zach

Just did this kit but with the lifted struts not spacers. After done going down road and I get this harmonic vibration kinda like rubbing noise. Goes away at higher speeds and coming to stop. Any ideas what it could be??
@Cymett yep, east coast gear supply sells a clam shell bearing (needle bearing)that is installed on the driver side (drawing a blank on the proper name lol) cv arm. If it was lifted using lift blocks front and rear without the use of adjustable upper control arms, that could be causing the stiff ride! -Zach
