The cast iron collection BLEW my mind! Outstanding collection. I'd walk though that room like kid in a candy shop. IMPRESSIVE! There is never enough cast iron. Sorry that's off topic. I'm so glad ya'll did this collab. Found some great channels along the way.
I was thinking the same thing about the irons
That’s a cool antique!
Great Info Mud !
Love all those cast iron skillets!!!!!!!!!!
Cast iron is the main focus of my channel.
Enjoyed your video. Loved your kitchen wall.
Love this collaboration
Thanks for sharing ..
Thanks for your video.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing
Very cool fruit press!
Love the cast iron
Holy Cats! Love your kitchen.
Was that a wood Cookstown?
Love Northern Wisconsin...
This was very helpful! Love the fruit press! Very handy!
I love canned cranberries with orange relish
Thank you for your video!!
Sweet potato pie 😁
Great video.
Love this!!!
Thank you!
I liked your old fruit press
Great voice! Thanks for the vid & tips.
Nice job.
First time with your channel, love it.
Love that fruit press and what a cast iron collection!!!
I enjoyed your video. That fruit press is really nifty!
Thanks for your video and the view of your awesome cast iron collection!
Thanks for doing this you did a great job.
I think it's kinda neat with peaches. Even if slightly bruised... once canned, the peach seems to un-brown
I just subscribed and hit 👍 button.
If he would narrate an audio book, I could listen to him all day. LOL
Enjoyed your video and hearing what you will can again and what you won't can again! Thanks for sharing your fruit press with us!
Oh my gosh. I love your berry press. I could have used that for making my raspberry blackberry sauce for ice cream and pancakes! Very nice antiques!
I came here from your canning video & I want to thank you for finally giving me the confidence to use my PC I’ve had 8 years. I followed your video to a T and all is well except my PC is running around 11lb and I need 10lb but my stove is all the way on its lowest setting. It’s slowly still rising about 1/2psi every 5 minutes. Anything else I can do to lower my pressure to the recommended setting of 10lb? I’m too nervous to lift it off heat. Thanks so much!
OMG I love the press! I've been thinking about getting a press for pressing the vegetables cook in the soup broth that I make so I can extract out all the flavor and liquid.
That fruit press is just lovely! Thank you for sharing it with us. Now I need to go shopping! LOL
You sound like my good friend russ . Your voice and such, like your normal thinking of what works. Love it. He is from Minnesota.
May I suggest veg kraut/mock kimchee in place of pure sauerkraut. A flavor difference to prevent food boredom. Another option is fermented red beets and turnips.
I love the cast iron collection behind you. I purchased a Presto 16 quart canner and cooker. First time to use one. I am reading all about it before I start. Thank you for sharing.
I need to cann more fruit. I mostly have applesauce but we don't use it as much as I thought. I will need to cann less of it.
Great fruit press!
I had forgotten you are from Wisconsin have you had any run ins with the Hodag?
They're rare around here, you find them mostly over towards Rhinelander.
@@TheMudbrooker Okay just wondering as I just saw a video about them.
Sweet potatoes need butter and sorgum syrup on them. My Granny had a press like that one.
I liked watching your channel and I have canned chuck roast but raw pack and it comes out so tender but my question is why would you cook it and then cook it again in the canner? Is it better doing it that way? Thx again and happy canning.
Always fascinating!
Thank you.
Interesting and educational video. Thank you!
You're welcome.
I recently got a steam juicer. I've never seen like yours. I'm going to keep my eye out for an antique press like you have.
wow I love all the cast iron very nice and the fruit press is awesome I am going to have to try canning the hot beef it sound yummy
Is it ok to can different kinds of meat in one batch.
Good channel man. I just wanted to add my opinion that canning sauerkraut is not the best idea because it kills all those awesome microbes and enzymes we are after with a ferment like sauerkraut. It holds indefinitely in the fridge after the ferment and the ferment itself depending on your taste can even take a month or more
Awesome fruit press.
Got it for $30 at a thrift sale. Took quite a bit of cleaning, but it shaped up nice.
Thanks for sharing. Loved that fruit press, I've never seen one like that. Be safe and stay well, Catherine
Newbie here! I'm going to be watching for you to make the Winsconson Hot Beef!
I already have. ua-cam.com/video/TIKBP6wQ54E/v-deo.html
I love the jelly press or the fruit press for making jelly I sure could have used that while making raspberry jam , thanks for sharing! Happy canning
I just gave one away very similar just last month, all cast iron weighed about 70lbs its was more a sausage and lard press
Thanks, I really learned a lot from this video!
Well, I try :)
Happy to have found you through the Collab! That hot beef sounds amazing 😋 I've done beef chunks and venison but not quite processed the way you describe but it sounds good. My brother is a bee keeper, CNR apiaries. So I get what you mean about the honey, it's good to have long term stored and raw, especially if you get a big quantity at once. Thanks for sharing your favorites
Pie filling is good on the pancakes, ice cream, or even in a dump cake.
It's handy, but i still like to just thicken fruit as I need it.
Thank you for coming back and doing a do over. I found you because of this collaboration.
I agree with pie filling. Was so excited to make it and 2 years later I still have some on the shelf.
Thank you for sharing your fruit press. What a beautiful piece! 😊
If I have sweet potatoes I add them in the pressure cooker with the bean soup. I'd like to try canning one day. Thanks
That sounds great. A little sweet in bean soup is good.
That does sound good.
The fruit press is wonderful. You are so right about peaches! Thank you.
Wow thanks for sharing. I love all the cooking equipment you have laying a round. Love getting everyone take on what they like and don't. Thanks again
I love using antique equipment. It's so much better made that today's equipment, and better planned as well.
Really neat fruit press. I always say a thank you to you when canning!
I love the fruit press and can’t wait to get one. I love these type of videos since I am a newbie at all the different ways of food preservation know what other like and/or will never can again helps me to know what I may or may not try try in the future. Another great video, I am looking forward to the next one and thank you for introducing me to some UA-cam channels i am otherwise very found. Regards from Australia
Awesome video. Loving this collaboration. Thanks so much
Fabulous video! I love the press. Im going to try canning this year.
Good luck and be sure to get the USDA canning book, here's a link for the free pdf version. nchfp.uga.edu/publications/publications_usda.html
Love that cast iron wall!!! I have a simular stove a 1924 white Tappen.
You have a nice voice! Thanks for joining in on the collaboration and for the likes and dislikes! looking forward to more videos :D
That's a pretty cool press. I've used various presses & mills over the years, but my favorite tool for jellies & juices is a Mehu Liisa steam juicer. No need to remove stems, seeds, pits etc. Just toss a pile of fruit in, throw the lid on & let it cook all of the goodness out of the fruit.
I never thought to can honey simply because it's naturally shelf stable. But putting it into smaller jars & re-canning it makes sense. I don't need 2 quarts of honey taking up space in a kitchen cabinet.
Thank you for your thoughts on canning yes or no. Enjoy seeing other peoples opinions on what they like and don't like.
LOVE your cast iron collection! Thanks for your participation in the collaboration, Am loving hearing all the different things people love and don't love to can.
WOW That Cast iron!!! FABULOUS!!! I love it too! I so agree on just canning fruit instead of pie filling!
I've never seen a fruit press! It looks amazing and such a simple concept.
I have a steamer juicer for when I process my wild dewberries for jelly.
It works great but it really takes up a lot of room to store. I'll have to keep my eye out for one of these.
Have plenty of second hand shops around us, maybe I'll get lucky!
If imagine it would work well for tomatoes as well.
Btw- I'm slightly jealous of your iron skillet collection. Very impressive😎
I love the press. I’m sure it’s better than any home use press on the market today. Great video, as always.
You are amazing. Everyone should be watching you! I am definitely a new subscriber!
Thank you much.
So your an ingredient canner which makes ingredients more versatile and use in many recipes. I just canned Italian beef yesterday, makes a great Italian beef sandwich or pair it with mashed potatoes or rice. Thank you for the will/ won’t can again video. This collaboration is so interesting and informative. Love the fruit press, a fantastic piece of preserving food. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day!
Yeah, I pretty much stick to ingredient canning.
I have my grandfather's old press. Love using it to make grape juice.
They're nice to have.
I'd recommend making sweet potato flour, or squash/pumpkin. Really good in biscuits, pancakes, etc.
I might try that if I find cheap sweet potatoes again.
I love that fruit press.
Thanks for the video
You're welcome.
I love sourcrout too!
Can you do a recipe for canning your sourcrout? Please.
Already did. ua-cam.com/video/d9CFeD59s64/v-deo.html
Thank you for showing the old press. That was fun to see.
It makes jelly making a whole lot easier.
Sometimes when I make ice cream I put a 8 ounce jar of home jelly in mix, it’s awesome !!, thank you for your video
That sounds really good, if you look close, I think you can see my ice cream maker in the background.
Thank you for doing the table top fruit press I remember grandpa had one and I think they mostly use that for cracklins it may have been a different kind of press have no idea whatever happened to that. I do remember getting cracklins in cakes when it was time to do the hogs. Glad to hear that they still make some kind of table top fruit press that might be a good thing to have. At this point in my life I may not be able to afford the antique one which would be my preference
There were a couple of different styles of press, the one I have is uncommon. They were originally called fruit and lard presses and were definitely used to press cracklins for the last bit or lard. I see old presses selling for anywhere between $75 and $150 in antique shops.
Great video! Love that press and your stove!
I use the cook stove quite a bit.
I really like the idea of Wisconsin hot beef never heard of that one before and missed it when I have been watching you may have to try that I think it would be a hit in my house
Here's how to make it. ua-cam.com/video/TIKBP6wQ54E/v-deo.html
@@TheMudbrooker thank you for sharing this link I went back and watched this this looks like a fabulous thing to make. Saved it so I could find it for when I've got a big hunk of beef to use it with the venison deal sounds like it would be good too.
I am not a fan of sweet potatoes. I only like them if they are cut up & fried like french fries. Extra crispy. 🍟
I love sweet potato fries.
