    You can skip the shortening and just use the sour cream. And personally I like using self rising flour.
    Self rising flour and sour cream with water or milk or the sprite makes a fine biscuit without the butter in the pan minus a smear to grease pan.
    But yeah all that butter is good. Lol.

      Yes absolutely! I have so many ways in making biscuits. This one is just my family's favorite.

      No offense of course...
      I got a few favorites.. self rising flour and cream that's it is one.
      Flour and mayo maybe a little milk depending on mayo..

      @@jimmieburleigh9549 no offense taken at all, on the contrary, I really like others opinions and ideas. OMG, my kids called me crazy when I made biscuits with Mayo. I also love the self rising flour one.

      @@HeavenlySweetsbyJudy I use self rising for every thing then you ain't got to add the baking powder I even use it for my roux's gravies and frying what ever like chicken fish etc.

    Never twist the cutter! Press straight down or the layers will be ruined and won't rise as high.
