My music isn't playing at all. I downloaded the music and unzipped the file, then cut the tracklist file and the music folder into id1 and it doesn't play. Is there some setting that needs to be changed?
I'm 9 months late, but you can probably find it elsewhere on the internet if you google for it. Trust me, it's well worth it. Playing Quake without the soundtrack is like riding a bike with one of the pedals missing.
The music step is just straight up not working, I've read multiple guides and they say to do the same thing, which I did. Doesn't work. Using Quakespasm, I've got music folder and the tracklist file in id1 as instructed and it will not play when it should. The external music setting is set to off, which I believe is correct, but still nothing plays. It DOES play if I use a console command but it will not automatically play at the start of each level or on the menu. The track file names are all correct, no extra zeroes or anything. What am I doing wrong?
one more thing. since its gonna run quakespasm with the exe renamed to Winquake(Or GLQuake) in the pre launch options, put "-sndspeed 44100" for higher quality sounds and "-fitz" to enable the demos
Links in the description don't seem to work anymore, both of them just take me to the steam community tab and not the actual pages for Quakespasm or Quake's ost
For anyone wondering, Quakespasm also works for the original physical DOS version of the game, although you need to install it via DOSBox using some code and then locate the ID1 folder as per the usual that way. This isn't any different to the Steam version at all in terms of gameplay when ran through Quakespasm so Steam users won't feel as if they are missing out on anything but for collectors like me who already have the game physically, its just one more reason to open the box and actually use the disc.
works the same. but if you want to play the expension packs just drop them in quakespasm folder just like you did with the main game. the map name of the expansion packs should be called hipnotic and rogue. hipnotic is for Scourge of Armagon and rogue is for Dissolution Of Eternity. then you open quakespasm type in the console (open it by pressing ~) and type game rogue for mission pack 2 and game hipnotic for misson pack 1. press enter after you type it in and the expansion packs will open automatically.
Doesn't work... every other tutorial.. when installing quakespasm into Quake directory folder. I get warning saying (Your Quake folder conatins a directory anmed id1 with a registered pak named pak1.pak located in that subfolder" and won't let it install. Like every other damn tutorial.... doesn't work... Isn't there one that work or am I just cursed
Absolutely. I've wanted to do one for Quake 2 but have been trying to mix these up and offer different types of games. But I think we're overdue for a return to Quake :)
"Modern controls"? Didn't Quake already support those right from the start? Also, why mess around with putting Quakespasm in the Steam directories? Like with Doom sourceports, why not just put Quakespasm in its own directory and copy-paste only the necessary data files over from the Steam install folder. That is, unless it's for some reason absolutely necessary to have it running under Steam...
Im trying this off of bethesda launcher and it say when i open it genport i/o initialization failure, grSstSelect: non-existent SST and couldnt sed video mode. If you have any fixes can you please let me know
@@dream_killer-cc3vr What's an id1 folder? No clue what you mean there. That's where I'm stuck. I have QuakeSpasm installed into the Bethesda Quake folder. But it brings up those errors you got every time.
@@dream_killer-cc3vr Now when I try to install QuakeSpasm into the Quake folder, I get this error... "Your Quake Folder contains a directory named id1 with a registered Quake pak named pak1.pak located in that subfolder.
If GOG's version comes with the soundtrack, you shouldn't need to redownload the soundtrack. The issue you're having is that the original executable that GOG ships with is only designed to play the music off of a CD, and it can't play the music from anywhere else. You have two options: - Burn the music onto a CD and have it in your computer when you play Quake. If you're running the original via Dosbox, this might not work since Dosbox might need some configuration to work with your CD drive (if you even have one these days). - Download the Quakespasm engine and use it to play Quake. Among other features, Quakespasm is capable of playing the music straight out of the id1 directory. Put Quakespasm somewhere, put the id1 folder in the same directory as Quakespasm, put a folder titled "music" in id1, put the music tracks in there, and you're good to go.
@@Renbuscus I don't know, I only have the Steam version. If the expansions use a separate id1 folder, try copying the music folder and pasting it in there, and make sure you launch them with a modern sourceport that supports playing the music from the filesystem.
eehm yes it is. i play it on 1080p no problems what so ever. monitor size is 24 inch. my second pc got a ultra wide monitor. 34 inches 1440p and it works on that monitor just as good.
the music link takes me to steam and then a link that sends me to a 404 error.
does anyone have the music download?
Thank you so much.
Just bought a whole heap of old games from steam.

To fix 3:48 z-buffering issues and some seams for hidden doors on the wall, use Ironwail port instead, better than the original QuakeSpasm.
well, does it even have QuakeSpasm features?
