This is the mod edition of the weapons pack released a few years ago. It has been forked off of seven's SMC 5.30, bringing with it many new features - This mod requires darkplaces as it makes use of engine extensions specific to DP.
Quake 1.5 is firstly a weapons overhaul, the original weapon pack's goal was to redo the quake 1 weapons to give them more feedback. Changes in the mod version include things like shell ejection, seeing rockets slide into the tube, additional frames for nailguns and a spin up/down on the SNG like Q2's chaingun.
The mod is a gameplay mod second, and branches off of SMC to include many new features. - Ігри

Hey SonnyJim :) In mod options you have ability to change one of quake power up to bullet time power up :) And you can change weapons position to default center view.
I wait long time for relase this mod, and I love it, I hope that future version will be compatible with Quake mission packs and Arcane Dimensions.
You should also check and review mod for COD "United Fronts" and COD 2 "Hardcore Tactical Mod" with my addon " Brutal WWII Reality v2.0" with new gore,bullet hit effects,weapons sounds,explosions etc.

Really impressive how this still runs on Quake 1, granted it requires Darkplaces but the animations and physics look far beyond anything possible in 1996.

Yeah, according to many people who were developing this nightmare, it was originally a 2D game where the main character was Quake, the strongest person on the continent, wielding the hammer of thunderbolts and other magical doohickys. This was the first ever game to be stuck in Development Hell, next to duke nukem Forever (Ugh), and Aliens: Colonial Marines (Another Ugh)
@@ChaseMC215 Duke nukem forever was in development hell because the management had restarted the project countless times and almost the entire original dev team left because of it. Otherwise it would have been a solid game as we can see in the recently leaked 2001 prototype.
This is the reason we need mod support/open source old games. People can and will bring them back to life and make them even more awesome!
Fuck the modern games industry for not giving us modding.

Romero wasn't the only level designer in Quake. I think he was responsible for the first episode. American Mcgee was another level designer for the game.
In any Quake version in the folder of the game there should be read-me file, it describes all level designers and who did wich level. Romero did all introduction base levels, episode 1 and some levels in some episodes, episode 2 is McGee probably, Tim WIllits did 3rd one, and Sandy did episode 4 (wich is recognizable, his style also seemed in Doom).
@@sgorgardr227 McGee and Willits did levels for mostly Episodes 1 and 3. Episode 2 was almost entirely designed by Romero (all of the main levels were made by him besides the secret level which was made by Willits).

Quake V:
- dark medieval / gothic design ala Quake 1
- 100% Idtech engine / made in house (not another QC fiasco)
- Solo content in mind with great level design ala Quake 1 (maybe look at Arcane dimension maps)
- Stunning graphics with integration of all the high-end gpu new tech.
It could use both Quake 1's Gothic ambiance + the Quake II futuristic setting
I think Quake would look/run fantastic using Id Tech 6/7.

@@ikagura Check out "idVerse Theories and Stories" on youtube. This guy made up a cool timeline that links Wolfenstein, Doom, & Quake 1+2.
I kinda like those theories but I think it's not always linked... It's kinda like how the Valve game aren't all linked to the same universe.

Significant bug I found: If the bullet time activates as I die, and I reload the save while it's still active, the bullet time stays on permanently. I need to turn the game on and off again to fix it.
If you haven't been using quicksaves like myself ( I just prefer to manually save), all you gotta do is press space once you die to spawn back at the starting room of the game. Then load up your last save and it's fixed. It should still be patched, though.

Still better than the game crashing on Far Cry 4 if you die...maybe it got patched later but I don't care
There are 2 additional patches on Mod DB; this bug is fixed with those updates (among other bugs of course).
I've definitely been saving more frequently than I would in standard Quake, the enemies soak more damage and seem faster and more aggressive.

I always liked how you focus on the non stop action.
I tried this mod myself a few days ago and while it caught me by surprise that the Ogre Ballet isn't as easy to do as in vanilla as well as the damage spongey-ness of the enemies in general, the weapons really got a good kick and I really dug the lightning gun change. It'll improve better in time i feel. Great review, man!

Just recently beat Quake for the sega saturn and had a blast playing it again and finding secret levels I'm sure very few people have ever seen or played. This mod looks like it will be another joy ride to play through the game once more and possibly even in coop ;D
Turoki Chicken loved Saturn secret levels, it was icing on a delicious cake.

the mod has its own options menu where you can choose for a older SSG skin centered weapon and what powerup to replace with the slowmo powerup it also has a CFG file with lot of settings for you to piddle around with

The Lightning Gun chaining thru enemies was originally planned for Quake with the Super Lightning Gun, which was eventually cut.

Only just replayed Quake about 2 months ago too. Will be good to give 1.5 a run while the original is still fresh in my mind.
I remember playing quake-1 back in 1997 and that time was the best game which I was playing!! Imagine my desktop was a pentium-1, working with Windows 95 and playing the game only with the keyboard. Looking quake1.5 now.. It looks fucking awesome!!! Congratulations to the designers! They updated the game to the standard of the computer technology that it deserves to be played and being enjoyed by us!! Quake was, is and will be legendary!!!
I was going to say that this is essentially Brutal Quake, but the sunny Jim that made this video beat me to it. This mod looks fantastic and I'll definitely be giving it a go as soon as possible, but from watching your video I hope that this mod adds in the option for us to have the weapons centred as they were in vanilla Quake. Weapons like the rocket launcher just look way better when it is centred and it doesn't look all that great in the footage that's being used in this video.

I'm only what, two years, late to this party, but I wanna point out that the fireball throwing imps and the spiders are from HeXen 2, as are the newly added breakable walls, imo this game feels like a glorious mash of Quake with Hexen 2's engine improvements and I love it.
Time to replay Quake in 2019.

From the first two sentences I already know what I'll be playing in April.
I've been playing through Quake on Nightmare and honestly, it's not all that nightmarish but it's still a great challenge ;). The level design is incredible and I love the traps that are set throughout as well as all the secret rooms that open, freeing monsters that ambush you. I can tell just by watching the gameplay that this mod is an improvement, I'll definitely consider downloading it some time ;).
