    Thanks buddy, worked a treat. I had a 2017 FJR a few years back but got it with the seat in the low position so didnt have to alter it. I have just got a 2015 FJR and it had the seat on the high, which is a bit too much for my height. Just wondering what the 7 thumbs downs are all about? Would love to know what part of that they didnt understand !! haha. You have given an idiot proof explanation that even I understood!! Thanks again for helping me reach the ground comfortably.

    Yup. Helped me. Just got my '16 FJR so I'm deathly afraid to over power a piece and break it off. Have appreciated several of your vids so far. Very helpful. Will look into your other forums/sites. Keep'em coming sir.

    Excellent video. I just bought a 2014 FJR1300ES, red with 6100 miles for $7,700. Exactly the same bike you have. Your video's are going to make my life much easier, working on this bike. Keep up the content!

    Thanks so much for this video! Had new FJR last year and asked dealer to put seat on lower setting! Struggled for months trying to put feet down and felt very uncomfortable when stopping at lights etc.. After watching your video and looking at my seat, I realised dealer had only altered front part of seat. Anyway after adjusting rear as you detailed I can now flatfoot easily and feel so much more confident and comfortable when stopping in traffic! Thanks so much for your help! Durchy

      denis urch , Maybe they need to incorporate these videos in their ongoing training? It sure doesn't make the dealer look good if the mechanic hasn't figured it out yet too.

    I just came in from the garage where I was figuring out how to adjust the seat height on my week old 2015 ES. Pretty funny that right after doing it I see your video. Guess timing is everything eh?

    I'm glad to watch your videos, and learn what you've already learned! I'm 2" shorter in the inseam than you, so I will definitely be keeping it in the low position. When I first climbed on when it was in the showroom at my local dealer, the riding position is what sold me. I felt really comfortable as soon as I climbed on it.

  • @stevekitella4781
    @stevekitella4781 5 років тому

    No one had done a video on lowering your seat by removing the plastic seat bracket. It'll lower the seat by 3/4". Easy to do. Very few people raise their seat! So in my mind this option is useless. And it then opens up more room to install a power block and ground bar in this area.

    Man for a so called simple fix you turned it into a piece of cake. Well done my man! I'm vertically challenged and fell off my BMW LT 1200k more times than I care to remember. Although the seat was lowered to the last. Thinking of the FJR 1300 and am wonder if I'm going to have the same problem. All that said, you done a super job with your demo and expo Many thanks from Ireland

    You are wrong about that bracket that seat sits on NOT being removable.
    Very easy to remove and it lowers your seat about 1/2". (seat sits on the frame)
    Yes, it's a little loose at the front, but it's not going anywhere and with rider on the bike, seat doesn't move at all.

    • @LamontCranston
      @LamontCranston 9 років тому

      labusasmr and you can remove the rubber baby bumpers on the bottom of the seat, (in the front) to get another 1/2 inch lower. Midgets need love, too.

    • @TZGreg
      @TZGreg 9 років тому +1

      labusasmr I don't own an FJR (yet) but from what I've read, yes, you can remove the bracket, but the seat then apparently sits directly on the plastic side-covers and can crack them.

    • @michaellovell2518

      I'm 5'7" and I can't use both feet due to seat width, but who uses both feet anyway? If I try to tiptoe both feet, they're too close to the bike for stable support, never mind the small contact patches. The right way to ride the FJR is to slide to one side and put one foot down. With one foot flat, the bike is leaned slightly and my foot is far enough from the bike to keep it stable even if the wind is gusting. If you're trying to put both feet down, yernotdoinitrite. If you can't slide to one side and get one foot flat, THEN you might consider lowering it. I can ride a dirtbike that's tall enough that I have to hang by my knee off the seat just to touch one foot, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that on a heavier bike.

  • @TheJmebe

    Many thanks! Obviously I didn't read the manual and then tried to just move the seat into the lower position without moving the bracket!

    I am 5.5, and I would like to know how to lower the seat height. Apart from adjusting the seat as you mentioned in this video, is there any other adjustment can be done to lower the seat height? I mean, without using third party lowering links. Thanks for posting this video. Very helpful.

      I’m late to this post but for future reference Sargent Seats makes replacement seats for several model bikes and some can be had with the seat dished out a bit lower than stock. Giving the bike a bit lower stance seat wise but not affecting the suspension.

    • @rogermorello9910
      @rogermorello9910 6 років тому +1

      Yeh once you have the seat on the low position the only other option is to get a purpose made low seat or have your seat re-padded. I dont mean to show you how to suck eggs but there are bike boots out there with a slightly thicker sole and heel than others, and this can also help by giving you a few more millimetres. Just a question of looking around.

    Hello there
    I just bought a 2005 yamaha fjr 1300 . I will like to ad a damper stabilizer just in case if I need it when if comes the time ( better have it and don't need it than need it and don't have it.) well about the damper can you make a video or point me to the right video how can I installed. Thanks to your video I tune up the bike the very next day from washing to lubricating & spark plugs air filter.
    please let me know if can help
    thanks for you videos... :)

    Like that u're very elaborate in ur explanation on each & every part and what it does.
    Echoing my comment in one of the FB post in FJR Owners, people should try riding in the high position and see if they like it; no matter how 'vertcally challenged' they are. Like me, at only 5"6' and been riding the FJR for a little more than a year. Just recently tried putting the seat position at High and BOOOM!!! ( ok... that was an exaggeration) But the ergonomics just clicked into place, except that I need to tip toe a bit more than usual.... and a taller screen seems more urgent now cause with the windscreen at full extent the wind is now hitting my eyes..
    BUT... the riding position just seemed perfected with lesser fold on my short stubby legs and a gentler slope forced upon my bum; easier for longer rides in the saddle.

    • @buttcheezemo
      @buttcheezemo 9 років тому +1

      That is a good point Jamad, I had not thought about the actual riding posture that would produce. I am thinking about buying some 1 inch lowering links and raising my seat like you did for a better riding posture. I have the A model so it might be less dramatic then with the ES.

    • @jaydee_world
      @jaydee_world 9 років тому

      Darren Gray Yes.. but wouldn't lowering the links would give lesser ground clearance especially during cornering..? With my riding style the standard FJR ground clearance is already quite low.. surely I wouldn't want to trade more of it for anything else.

    • @buttcheezemo
      @buttcheezemo 9 років тому +1

      Yes it would, but I ride my wife around a lot (Plus I'm old) so I could use the added stability when stopped. I don't yank and bank as much as I used to ...I'm going to try it and see if I start grinding pegs ...but I doubt I will. lol

    • @jaydee_world
      @jaydee_world 9 років тому +1

      I see.. Fully agree lowering the links would be the best option in that case. Good that the missus still wants to go on rides.. couldn't get mine to even go for dinner! 😁

    Thanks! Gotta say that helped me, as the plastic piece that is closest to the gas tank seemed like it might flip up or something to remove...now I know it just needs quite a bit of force to remove. I was worried I would break it like I do with most plastic clip type parts. lol
