- Опубліковано 13 чер 2023
- James Deane has established himself as one of the fastest- growing personalities in the sport and boasts the largest following of any Irish motorsport personality in the world. James began his competitive drift career in 2006 behind the wheel of a Ford Sierra in the Prodrift Junior Championship and in 2023 he is again behind the wheel of a Ford only this time it is a Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD in Formula Drift with 1,111 horsepower.
James makes his Formula Drift return, the world’s premiere drift series, after a three-year hiatus from the series which saw him take home the Championship in three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019).
However, during his hiatus from US drifting he was no stranger to winning, taking first at the DriftNeu North Cyprus Championship Finals, Goodwood Festival of Speed Driftkhana competition, the LZ Festival Mondello Park, multiple podiums in the Drift Masters European Championship and that’s just 2022.
As 2023 gets underway James will be in pursuit of a record setting 4th Formula Drift Championship and 3rd for RTR Motorsports.

it's nice to hear that he and he and Piotr are still good pals. Used to enjoy those candy machine vlogs they did together, what a great team they made.
Yeah one of the most real blogs we have seen in the sport.
The interview I was waiting for.
* everyone
Ahahah same.
Dude is the man
You need to do another one with James at the end of the season
If he wins it all. Done deal.
The Evenflow shout out . Class
Absolute legend of a man. Great podcast, crazy that Evenflow played his part getting the 1st S14 and Peter asking u to go to FD were my favourite bits. True Irish hero James 🇮🇪
Absolute legend
most certainly i must admit that Jacob did a great job in this interview, sophisticated even, since James is the kind that we all want to listen and get to known. smart questions, and quick about it, i guess thats why FD is the best in the business; the best people delivering the best product.
Thank you this means a lot. I appreciate the support.
"The best people delivering the best product."
My thoughts exactly.
29:20 if James would make a video about that, maybe with the right title and thumbnail, it could go viral. Something like "Pro Drift Champion plays nostalgic Sim". Maybe comparing GT3 with GT7 and how capable the new game is compared to the old one. I also love when he makes videos of him testing on Assetto, always fun to watch!
He used to have a few GT clips on his channel back in the day, but think they have been deleted
I think James is going to kill it in Utah! That track is similar to Riga without the blind walls of course
Good read Vic. I think that is right.
James Deane rolling sticks in Gran Turismo 3 is blowing my mind lol
This man is a legend
Every time one of the drivers is surprised by how deep you went into their history I’m reminded of Nardwar. Keep up the great research!
This is the greatest compliment you could give me. He is a true legend.
1:42:18 The amount of excellent and useful information on Chelsea's channel is just insane. Aaron Losey on Lonestar drift also has killer tutorials.
Love both of those channels.
I did the same even as james back in ireland in rosegreen, his and my first drift comp, to say it was basic is something else. To see how far the cars the sport and james have come since then is great. I can still remember being so exicted when james when with peter to fd. All the lovely content. I remember the first round 2017, James into too 8, i went to bed thinking thats good enough, its late in going to bed. I woke next day checked the results saw james won and jumped out of bed. My gf said it was the most excited she ever saw me! Will james get a win this year?
It was interesting how lottle he talked about russia and his time there and the standard of drivers there. Guess he knows its not what a usa audience want to hear.
Great to hear all the good things James has to say about Peter and @worthousedrift. I'd love to see him back in the states
100%
I listen the podcast in my car, i just love it and i am just in the first 15 mins, all the way from France.
Bonjour
You're killing it Jacob!! Love these podcasts :)
Thank you for the support.
James Deane is a GoaT.
Well done.
happy to hear that he remembered the malaysian drifter, its a wow for me
Your research on each driver is always so awesome, and I love how much they love remembering their upbringing via your great work!
Deane got it imagine if they did a special year and call it formula Drift world and has all of the best of the world it would be crazy to watch and since drift is getting bigger and bigger I feel like it would speed up this and make it a mainstream sport !
Brilliant podcast, expertly researched and conducted. Many thanks to James for the valuable insights.
Another great interview! Looking good this year James!
Honestly this was bucket list.
Great episode, James Deane is the best🔥🔥🇮🇪🇮🇪
LETS GOOO !!
Yess finallyyyyy❤
Rolling was the best way to smooth out steering
🔥🔥
Hell right!
Deane ur great driver
The Goat???
😅If you paused this video, to look up a clip👀 of something they mentioned....like this comment
Ahaha we are looking at more visual references for next season.
Sure it's me, the lad from the Nurburgring. xD
🍿
Heres a secret, that rotate from the middle of the car stuff is actually a driving technique and not a setup thing, wont go deeper into it than that though ;)
Ahahahah right. Kinda sus
Ah you big tease !
I dunno. I watched pro driver's talking about it and they said 50/50 balance gives a car a central pivot. A little more towards the rear helps with rear grip and a little more on the front helps with steering. All dependent on chassis/suspension geometry and driver preference but the general rule of thumb.
My opinion the track in Germany that drift masters compete in , is way more faster than Atlanta that’s just my opinion
What's the story behind worthouse team manager and Deane ?
Nest time on The Outersone lol
55:10, not exactly true though, Vaugn may have not driven in FD for a year but he has been driving his demo car at a ton of events. He even said it in his interview, that he hasn't stopped driving. He has been driving on a rgular basis. Forrest Wang, same thing.
Agreed but driving and competing in fd are not really the same.
25:00 there’s a little Irishism that people don’t pick up on. In Ireland we call all 4x4’s Jeeps.
This happening not only in Ireland.
Did not know that.
@@jacobgettins yeah it flys under the radar because people assume we are actually talking about jeeps. I assume it comes from the large amount of Willy’s shipped over to Northern Ireland during WW2, think the Irish defence forces bought them after the war. Was the first 4x4 vehicle most people saw and the name for the category stuck.
@@jacobgettins absolutely superb podcast by the way, shared it with a few friends earlier and said this guy does Sean Evan’s levels of research on his guests.
@@tdolan500 thank you that means a lot. That is the level we are trying to hit. This was one of the hardest ones to research. I think I touch on why in the show lol
Discount code for Shop FD doesn't work .......... Maybe im to late.
Time for some new ads lol.
James' beard looks A.i generated... haha
There is some upscaling to the video. Some guests have webcams so we made the call to upscale instead of having it look blocky.
Man so many ads in this video
Well there is only 2 from us but you can listen without ads on most podcast platforms.
@@jacobgettins goooot it. Seems like it's every 10 minutes, gets frustrating because the episodes are great and then bam, ad in your face lol
There are some work arounds
How mutch pay RTR Mustang fron finland byers? about?
Shoot them an email.
Stop with the spec cars. 🤦🏻♂️ We like unique cars that reflect style. It’s part of drifting
I think we should have both.
@@jacobgettinsagreed spec invite only series would be super sick to see the best of the best battle it out with equal hardware
