    HOAs are clubs for losers. I lived in Henderson, NV and had a few run ins with the HOA. One was that my lawn was stressed. However, the entire state is on strict watering schedule. It's the desert, everything outdoors is stressed.

    This also goes to show that law-abiding citizens are not committing gun violence because if they were, most of these hoa board members would be hurt.

    The HOA for the neighborhood we were in, wasn't actually a terrible one when it actually came to enforcing dumb rules. But it did have some dumb rules if someone wanted to enforced them.
    Our solution was to sell the house in the HOA and getting one not in an HOA. Lost access to a really nice bike trail. But got more land, in a better (for us) location, and a better (for us) house.

    How about some stories about neighborhoods without HOAs? I have seen some crazy stuff that I absolutely would NOT want to live next to. I live in a neighborhood with a great, reasonable HOA.

    Regardless of how bad it is for the economy, making money online is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get rich.

    HOAs are a lot like unions. They have their place and are sometimes useful. Unfortunately, they are also frequently abused. Or more specifically, people running them are abusing them to the detriment of everyone - including the members

    The ford truck thing is because they think a couple work trucks in the neighborhood look bad when every one drives a luxury car. When are you going Red snapper fishing by the way?

    So... My neighborhood was the first one in Hillsborough county to have platted deed restrictions when it was built in the 80's. The developer did not create a HOA. After the neighborhood was about 50% developed an HOA formed that was voluntary because you can't force people to join after they've bought in. Not only that, once a development has been established, you can not have a mandatory HOA without 100% of the plats agreeing to join. Our HOA did not own ANY community property and our community had a special assessment with the county. Well, after 30+ years our HOA was taken over by some ridiculously unethical people that literally got into fist fights at previous HOA meetings. Then they hired a notorious law firm to help create new community rules and told everyone that they had no right to vote on whether to accept the rules. The lawyer for the HOA convinced the board that they had the right to fine and foreclose on peoples homes. Well, we weren't going to sit idle and let these people take our neighbors homes. We crowd funded a lawyer to go over all the bylaws and it turns out that there's no chance that the HOA would win. We canvased the community and in a 1000+ home community, we had over 500 people show up to several HOA meetings and we voted the board out. The new board fired the law firm and stopped all of the foreclosures and fining immediately because it was 99.9999% likely that it was illegal for the HOA to do so. This POS lawyer didn't want the HOA to stop collecting from previous fines and settlements either. Ultimately, the community voted to change the HOA bylaws and make sure that there was no question that the HOA was voluntary and had NO ability to fine or foreclose. To put icing on the cake, the old lawyer got caught allegedly receiving oral sex from under her desk on camera during a zoom call with another HOA meeting and was fired immediately when the video broke. No I wont link it here. Don't let these small minded crooked bastards run your HOA. It's the dumbest thing to let morons with power trips to control a community that can fine or levy liens against was is likely your most valuable asset.

    HOA's are a very small problem. The fact that these (types of) people are being elected to office from our cities to our nations capitol is the BIG problem !

    I know Holley By the Sea has be the inspiration for this video.
    Some dildo wanted his neighbor fined for weeds in the backyard that he had peer over a 6 foot fence to see.
    Last board was pure ass hats.
    Finded some Airmen for having his boat in his driveway while his pool was being installed and he was out of town on temporary duty assignment.
    He couldn't put the boat beside his house because it would have blocked the gate.
    Had a gaint pier built with no state of co permits.
    Builder charged for 2x12s and used 2x8s. Not only was nothing done. The board refused to acknowledge it even happened.
    We have a good board now, but I fear petty tyrants could return . One of the people running for next term use a bunch of aliases online to argue with people.
    Hidden creek has that crazy garage door rule. It's only to be opened when people are getting something out or putting something in.
    All that said I have been on the other side of the hoa fence.
    I had place 7 miles out of town and neighbors on both sides moved in and just completely junked up the properties.
    5 junk cars, 3 junk boats .. head high grass. Trash everywhere. Set the woods on fire burning trash .
