Keith Sweat on Knowing Teddy Riley from the Projects, Pursuing Music, 1st Album Classic (Flashback)

- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- Back in 2016, Keith Sweat came through to speak to VladTV about his twelfth studio album, Dress to Impress, which he explained doesn't deviate from his classic sound. He went on to share his thoughts on R&B today being "different," and Keith added that he feels like it's time for the legends in the R&B world to come out and represent. Moving along, Keith Sweat spoke about being referenced by artists like Kendrick Lamar, and feeling like people still referencing his songs like "Nobody" makes him relevant. Keith also spoke about growing up in the projects in Harlem and feeling like he chose the right direction by pursuing music, and he also detailed how he got his big break with an album deal. To hear more, including knowing Teddy Riley and making his first album with Teddy, hit the above clip.
I fuck with Keith big. His first album still 🔥🔥
First album i bought (on cassette) 8 tracks everyone of them a classic , probably the best RnB album ever for me
Had the tape and CD.... Make it last forever 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Keith is a living legend his music is timeless.
I agree on that.
That's a FACT
@@cherylmcleod6088 😘
So I guess he made it last......forever
Big time
Keith has so many bangers that people sleep on unless you have his later CDs.
The reason so many late 90s babies were born.
Facts 💯
He was the the reason so many late 80s babies were born too. 💯
Early 90s too
Late 80's babies too
Not late 90s his first solo album came out in 1987... remember he was before R.Kelly..
Just admit it Keith, R & B now is weak. Good music will last a lifetime
real shit. these little kids are wack af
He actually said it if you read between the lines, he just wanted to be polite, but he knows todays rnb is garbage
I don't even listen to today's trash!
Yep, r&b died in 1990
No it’s not dead it’s just mix with too much hip hop and being disrespectful instead of meting sexy and sensual like back in the day
Keith was so underrated!! One of the very best to do it. 🏆
How is he underrated he's been in the game since 88 or 89. How is he underrated
@@tazzhardwick1316 😂 Right! 🥴
Y’all say everyone is overrated. Smh
🤫
A pioneer
One of the OG’s of the new jack swing
Keith Sweat is one of the special artist. Like Big Daddy Kane, Diana Ross, James Brown, Barry White and a few others. Their music has always been part of my life. I played the Keith Sweat I will always love you cassette tape every day while attending Washington Irving high school in 1990. I brought that cassette again and again and again because I kept popping the tape in my walkman. LOL...the dudes selling music tapes on 14 street union square made much money off me. That tape takes me back to H.S. and my first girlfriend. Man...those were the days. I still love all the songs from that Keith Sweat album and know all the songs by heart. Keith Sweat is definitely a legend.
You weren't even born when James Brown was in his prime throughout the 60s if you were in high school back in 1990
@@bigolebot Of course I wasn't. LOL. But, I still have seen him and other legendary artist on old TV shows performing and you know I heard their records. Come on are you serious? I love old school music.
I totally agree older artist need to make a comeback and stay true to the authentic R&B vibe of the 80's, 90's up to 2010.
🔥♥️💯 Keith Sweat... his music still has me "Twisted" and "Nobody" can deny that! 🔥♥️💯
😄 Good one! 😄
Chocolate Girl 🔥🔥
I've seen him live once when I was a teenager once when I was in my thirties and once when I was in my 40s the show got better each time The man is a legend He said he begs so we don't have to 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Lol
@Sonja Clemons facts UNC is cool as hotel pillows
He was drunk AF during that versuz battle
I was the one who brought the 🥃 to the versus...TK Kirkland 💯
Yep! 😂😂😂
I was dying when he told Dj Cassidy he would've robbed him back in the day
That’s wassup
@Gianni Schettini I just subscribed to your channel 😂🤣😭
Just remember Teddy Riley didnt start making new jack until Keith, all Teddy did was hiphop. Keith is New Jack!
New Jack was inevitable even if Keith and Teddy didn't exist. Hip Hop was exploding in NY, R&B was struggling to stay afloat, and adding the hip hop beats to the R&B brought R&B back to life.
Kieth sweat is the man legend for sure 💯
Keith is mad cool, his demeanor is legendary 💯💯😂😂
I remember going to his concert 33 years ago, my son was 4 and a half weeks old and it was his first album. I loved every minute of it
I was like 8 or 10 I think when his first album came out. I think that is hos best album to date..
@@munecamccoy I was 18 years old when it came out
My Ex was pregnant with my son. I went to his concert around the same time ⏲️(1988)! Along with Keith it was Rob Base& 🧂Salt& Pepa 🌶. My college years, great time. I Preciate U!👏
You exclusively mentioned you left your 1 month old son to go to a concert!😂 I bet that nigga in jail now😂😂😂
I was born in 1988 and grew up on all the 80s and 90s great classic music good times 😃💯💯👍🏽
Keith Crier better known as Keith Sweat was stock broker before his album "Make It Last Forever" charted.
Baby making music from this fine fella 💃💃💃
He seems down-to-earth and humble a true legend
He is my sister and girl friend meet him at the state capitol in Atlanta took pics with them and was very nice
Keith's biggest hits wouldn't be sh*t without his female backround singers. MAKE IT LAST FOREVER AND WHO CAN LOVE YOU LIKE ME.
You must've forgot dude went platinum before his duets and background singers
Anybody remember YUMAYUMAYUM LET ME GET ME SOME...😂. I always thought it was inspired by something he ate.
R&B Legend👑 💯💪🏾✊🏾
How U feel bout R&B today?
He wanted to say, "They cant sing!"
I will tell you that some can actually sing( just a few i will say) but the instrumentals are garbage, thats why talented artists cant really show us what they can do
@@BigSocksProds yea they can sing but I’m noticing not a variety of different vocals
@@ajat3202 thats how they arw asked to sing, variations in vocals are regarded as old school type of singing 🤷🏾♂️
Never knew Keith Sweat was on this
Neither did I. GREAT!
Keith sweat is a true icon, he has a nice catalog.
Keith was full of that ciroc versus bobby brown lol but he still put on a good show salute 🙏🏿🙌🏿👑💯
Make It Last Forever is my favorite album of all time…How Deep Is Your Love’s production was just ahead of its time…TELL ME ITS ME YOU WANT! 🕺🏽🕺🏽
It up there, my favorites are Keith Sweat and Just Me, but honestly when I hear a new lp coming nothing else really matters.
@@pictureofmyjunk2279 i use music to reflect and take myself back to moments in time…when that album came out, i was around 10-11 years old…for some reason it has always stuck with me, lol…even til this very day when How Deep Is Your Love come on, it’s almost like it’s new to me…makes my body groove, lol
Facts!
Keith Sweat is a true legend no doubt!!!
8:54 "They cut ✂️ me off, they didn't think I was good enough" .... Wow, were they ever WRONG! Thank you for not giving up Keith Sweat 🙏❤ Your music is perfection and legendary ❤

Off top the 2nd album is my fav especially Merry Go Round 1 Of Them Thangs... Those synth 🎹 hits always do it and the carnival clown blowing on the 🎷
I Wanna Her will forever be a classic!! If yo aunties wasn’t bumping Keith in the late 80s what was they really listening 💯🤞🏽‼️
I don't think he gave Teddy Riley enough credit as his producer.
Probably because you could never give enough credit to that man, so why try. Just say thanks.
@@pictureofmyjunk2279 but he didn't say thanks even. The interviewer mentioned Riley.
Twisted w/ Kut Klose was the jam
Legendary.
1st album my favorite⏺️📼
Legend in the flesh..
K.Sweat #1 fan forever
To make it in the music 🎵🎶 Business you gotta know people.
Keith is actually speaking on personal responsibility and being accountable for your life decisions. It's extremely rare to hear black celebrities speak that way in this damn time.
This man is a legend in the music industry and he has had so many hits and artist today would pray to have a career like his and his music is timeless. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
I was so disappointed when Keith stopped putting out music. I believe the record companies must have screwed him over. Those record companies are treacherous and back in the day they were downright evil. I'd love to hear Keith put out his style of music again, he's one of a kind.
Please bring back true R&b!!!
Keith Sweat have great music one of the realist R&B artist
In 1998, Me, keith, and dru hill all traveled to Hong kong and spoke in a Puerto Rican accent there ⛩🇨🇮
Keith be playing too much 😂
It’s amazing for your 1st album to be so perfect. It’s a classic
Every album after that was so so.
@@onionhortonjr His second album was alright he had an few hits like merry go round and ill give all my love to you and Make you sweat!
