Part 4: • Teddy Riley on Produci...
Part 2: • Teddy Riley: Gladys Kn...
Part 1: • Teddy Riley on Growing...
    --------
In this clip, Teddy Riley spoke about being called to the studio for the first time, and he explained that he joined his first group when he was around 11 or 12. Teddy explained that he took his keyboard over to this band’s house and asked if he could play for them, and they brushed him off. Teddy explained that he went every day that he was able, and they finally gave him a shot after their keyboard player quit. Teddy added that the guys in the band said that they would take his Casio keyboard if he didn’t nail the audition, which he did. Teddy then explained how being in the band led to him getting noticed, and he was given advice to get a band with people that were more his age. Teddy then revealed that he met Timmy Gatling around that time, along with Aaron and Damion Hall, who were later in the group Guy with him. From there, Teddy spoke about watching the legendary battle between Busy Bee and Kool Moe D, which is when Teddy said that he started getting in the streets and hustling.

I first came across Teddy in 1985 listening to the Kids at Work album. My cousin who was in the military at that time put me up on them. She's My Baby was that song! It's crazy how that album didn't have the momentum it deserves.

People are conditioned to respond to negative vibes. Stories of violence, drugs and horrible endings... For example, Malcolm X's daughter was found dead last year... not ONE black platform covered it at all, not ONE... But when alpo was killed 🤯...all of these clowns went nuts. Couldn't wait to be the first to cover it. Which is why I don't watch any of them like I used to. I'll watch an interview but most of the time I'm looking at agricultural videos or something dealing with self sufficiency.
