Audrey also has a UA-cam channel, and she would probably freak out if her subscribers doubled (currently at 884 subscribers) ua-cam.com/users/Nocturiah TURN THE VOLUME UP so you can feel what it's actually like to be there. I've always wanted to go here... but man it's cost prohibitive. Do me a solid and follow Audrey on instagram here: instagram.com/cakes1todough1/ And of course, here she is on snapchat (her native environment). www.snapchat.com/add/cakes1todough1.
Your cat is trying to get through to you to stop petting him in the wrong direction. Only pet them in the direction of their fur. Learn something new every day. Cats especially like scratches on the sides of the face, when done well. And in front of the tail. Advanced class: Knead their pelt gently, moving slowly head to tail, they'll often plop over on their side purring.
I felt like the quality on this one suffered a little. The bass was causing clipping. If it were possible, it would probably be best to get microphones/recording with no auto-gain to ensure volume stays fairly consistent.
Sorry, I didn't word that too well. When the bass gets loud very suddenly the rest of the sound gets turned down (the mic hits it DR limit) so it sounds like somebody is wiggling a volume slider. That messes with the binaural effect. You mainly hear it in the treble suddenly fading out, it "feels" like somebody clamping their hands over your ears suddenly.
Oh man this makes me SO HAPPY that one of your crew made this trip! I grew up in Zimbabwe and for my 14th birthday my dad took me up there. Mosi oa tunya translates to "the mist that thunders" and seeing this made me seriously tear up and brought back fond memories of that journey! It's a sound that you will never forget.
I love how Audrey approaches the falls slowly so we can appreciate the volume of the falls increasing slowly. Also her camera work is great ...no sudden moves.
THANK YOU! I was born in Zimbabwe and forced to leave as a very young child. The last time I saw the Mist That Thunders in person was when I was eleven years old. You have given me a gift beyond measure today since I am not able to return to the country of my birth.
I live in Florida and I'm laying in bed have my headphones on and your notification came up so I'm watching the video and when the 3D sound started I thought there was a storm outside of my house and then I realized I'm listening to your video.
Luminous knight - the sound would be massive I believe. I think it's about the drop height as well. Higher the water drop, heavier or more low pitched the sound. The closest I have experienced such a powerful fall is the Chitrakoot Falls in India, called the Indian Niagra (Nowhere close to that though), was pretty cool.
I love falls. In my youth, I used to sit for hours on a ledge listening to my grandfather's falls, about 70 feet. You could watch the hawks soar at eye level over his falls. The frequencies if water falling is so soothing. Thank you for the memories. Cheers!
Seemed the mics were clipping a little bit, but still an amazing video. Victoria Falls makes Niagara look sort of insignificant.😁 That a *LOT* of water!!😮
This week on strange passions: A man walks around the world recording the things that he hears and makes them sound as if they are ACTUALLY THERE! And the audience LOVE IT!
This is incredible because I woke up really missing the people and experiences from my stay in zimbabwe a year ago. Thanks for bringing me right back to it for a lil while, gave me chills
This would be even more amazing with 360° video and 360°audio. Move the video with your finger or the angle of your phone. Different angle of sight AND sound. Is there even anyone doing this? Love these videos!
Had to pause this one a few times - the roar is overwhelming. I can actually sense the force of the water moving just through this audio. Thanks for these videos~
Just tried your binaural experience through my surround sound, Destin. Man what an experience. Take note that my system has been expertly tuned with a Db sensor and tonal ears. This is an amazing immersion f sound and picture. The falls were shaking my apartment through the 3 sub's. Can't wait to try more videos! Thanks
Although I'm sure it still sounded cool, binaural signals don't work properly through speakers, no matter how well they are set up. They are designed to work through headphones because they simulate the human head being in between the two channels, which translates to a dead spot in the center of the mix where the head is. The ears are hearing two totally different things, and on a surround system both will just be playing on top of each other, nullifying the effect. Stereo mixes don't have a barrier between the two channels, they're just slightly different shades of the same audio blended together.
to stand next to the falls, in full flood, or at the bottom of the falls (zambian side) is an experience difficult to comprehend... the volume of water, spray and roar.... watching this video brings back a lot of child hood memories. i lived in livingstone (zambia) in the lat 60's and this was our playground. One thing that struck me was, even all these years later, there are still no barriers and in some places you are literally a couple of metres / 6 feet away fro a sheer drop... and i cannot recall a single incident where a tourist or anyone has slipped a fallen to what would be their death....
This video really moved me. I found the combination of the visuals and the thundering roar of the falls to be terrifying. Even from the safety of my room on the other side of the world. What an overwhelming location.
I have been there IRL..and the sound and the view in reality is stunning. But i have to say that the volume of the sound is much higher in the headset (Bose Quiet Comfort 25) than in reality. There is no problem speaking normally there.
Great video and audio experience. For some reason, I found the little mini-falls in the center of the frame at about 3:10 or so to be neat. I was also wondering if there was any interesting effect on the nearby vegetation of basically being watered 24/7/365. I love that, other than the walkways and minimal fence construction, it appears to be fairly natural.
If you really want to know how much water is in the atmosphere and falls as rain then this video just shows you and all this from just one of earth's rivers.
Hi Dustin, may I propose a new project. Binaural sound of frozen lakes. Can't imagine enough how trippy that's gonna be.. I am avid follower of your videos..
Incredible sounds and sights. Thanks Destin and Audrey. But Destin... Why did you not save the flipping cat physics episode of SED (Ep 58) for when you had Prince Rupert? That would combine 2 of your favorite things: slow motion and Prince Rupert Drops :)
Put down the headphones. I have The Klipsch Legend Series KLF-30’s with a Klipsch R-115 Sub. This sounds INCREDIBLE! If you have a built system and a large property like we do, let it rip and feel it. Wow! I put on the headphones As I was told, and thought this is nothing at all in comparison to the system drive in the sound. What an experience. Keep up the good work
Beautiful natural scenery and great sound, very impressive. PLEASE ask you camera people not to whip the camera around quickly from side to side - I understand they want to get everything in - but it's very amateurish. Otherwise great stuff!
Hi Destin, I'm currently making a UA-cam video with a segment about how Mosi oa Tunya is a better and more appropriate name for the Victoria Falls than...Victorial Falls! Can I have your permission to show part of this video (with your watermark intact and with credit of course in the description)? I would probably use less than the window 3:38 - 3:55. Thanks!
A suggestion. Remind people to balance their headphones too. I have been checking in and the sound was ok Till! I realized I had the balance set for my speakers. Set them 50/50 and wow what a difference. Been watching for a long time. I also enjoy the content with other you tubers. Thank you.
Hey Destin, why did you described Vicotria Falls as "Largest Waterfall in the world"? The World Waterfalls Database lists Inga Falls, an area of rapids on the Congo River, as the waterfall with the largest volume; and... the tallest waterfall in the world is Venezuela's Angel Falls, which plunges 3,212 feet (979 meters), according to the National Geographic Society (source www.livescience.com/32753-whats-the-largest-waterfall-in-the-world-.html)
I don't know, the microphones sound like they were actually clipping all the time. It sounds more like a static white noise, than the dynamic noise a waterfall has. You definitelety hear how some parts of the sounds hit a roof and just can't get louder. I guess "normal" binaurial Microphones were used right? But I guess for these ultra loud sounds, special microphones with high db tolerance are needed with lot less gain, so that no clipping could happen. But still, nice video :)
Awesome video and awesome channel, but why oh why is this not in 4K 60fps? is it bc you published 4K to patreons only? Also.. have you thought of doing 360 video as well? this would be amazing with VR goggles
Is there way to know what volume to set your computer at to hear what ambient levels would actually be like? Much of this experience is the sound, I know headphones can't really replicate say a rocket launch but something like this would be closer to manageable.
Sound is fantastic as always, but video quality is really lacking this time. Why only 720p? Higher settings on youtube have higher bitrates, so even if the source file isn't 720p+, it still looks better than a 720p stream. Also, 60fps 720p has a lower bitrate than 30fps 720p, making it even more noticeable.
3:10 why it has the sound of a gas pipe open and flowing on top of the actual sound of water crushing on itself. whenever the camera is near the fall, that Open gas Pipe sound appear again.
What kind of recording equipment do you use for the sound traveller project, Destin? I live in Edmonton and after I started listening to The Sound Traveller I've thought the sound of Whyte Ave on a Friday night (drunk people laughing and partying with loud cars revving in the streets) could make an amazing video like this. I also think going to a car meet with a binaural recording set up would be really cool. If this interests you I'd love to provide for such a cool project and if not I'd still like to know for my own purposes. Thank you and keep up the great stuff!!! :D
I love my Beyerdynamic headphones. So realistic with high volume. I close my eyes and imagining someone was carrying me around blind folded. It's kinda scary.
Audrey also has a UA-cam channel, and she would probably freak out if her subscribers doubled (currently at 884 subscribers)

Man THIS GUY IS SIKCE
Wow that’s loud
We definitely want more videos of your carnivorous cat!
As opposed to his herbivorous cat.
And his Breatharian cat.
This felt a lot more realistic by tripling the volume after the intro
josav09 maybe I should turn down the intros so people do it naturally
I felt like the quality on this one suffered a little. The bass was causing clipping.
If it were possible, it would probably be best to get microphones/recording with no auto-gain to ensure volume stays fairly consistent.
But it is that bassy with the rushing water.
Sorry, I didn't word that too well. When the bass gets loud very suddenly the rest of the sound gets turned down (the mic hits it DR limit) so it sounds like somebody is wiggling a volume slider. Yes, I know what you are saying and agree with you also, but IRL it is that deep.

Celtic.... they have given us ALL a wonderful gift with this experience. Hope you are doing well in your new home.
I live in Florida and I'm laying in bed have my headphones on and your notification came up so I'm watching the video and when the 3D sound started I thought there was a storm outside of my house and then I realized I'm listening to your video.
Laying in Florida.... walking in Africa. The internet is awesome.
I thought the same thing. Also from Florida.
Better, i think i hear flash flood for a second
OMG... That sound. Better than the SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch and it's all natural
Luminous knight - the sound would be massive I believe. I think it's about the drop height as well. Higher the water drop, heavier or more low pitched the sound. we are nature, spacex is nature. there are no difference. we are all ONE.
Although this is great, I'm gonna say nah. I'd definitely be more impressed by Falcon Heavy.
I love falls. In my youth, I used to sit for hours on a ledge listening to my grandfather's falls, about 70 feet. You could watch the hawks soar at eye level over his falls. The frequencies if water falling is so soothing. Thank you for the memories.

Your cat nibbles you and follows your hands with its paws without scratching you.
...your cat is a dog.
I really really love this channel. I always loved binaural audio.
Keep up the good work, man!
Can't wait for a new video!

Not that VR has taken off yet but stereoscopic video and binaural audio would be insane to sit down and enjoy. Thumbs up Audrey
WOW this content is amazing.!!! Smarter Evday brought me here now....!!!! Thanks Again Destin and all collaborators. !!
2:10 goosebumps
Thank you so much for taking us to some glorious places
David Livingstone was not the first person to see the falls but the first European(whiteman) to see the falls.
This video really moved me. I found the combination of the visuals and the thundering roar of the falls to be terrifying. Even from the safety of my room on the other side of the world. What an overwhelming location.
haha, nice intro, it reminds me of 2 of your videos as I wondered what happens if you let prince rupert drop? haha couldn;t resist!
"How do you put headphones on a cat"
Man has his priorities straight
Bro, this was far by far the most relaxing and indluging video i've seen. I really felt like i was there.👍🏾
I have been there IRL..and the sound and the view in reality is stunning. But i have to say that the volume of the sound is much higher in the headset (Bose Quiet Comfort 25) than in reality. There is no problem speaking normally there.
The Smoke That Thunders is amazing.
Can almost feel it while listening.
WOW, so glad I found out about this channel.
Dude you are a genius. I love the idea of these videos. Thank you.
Gotta love that warp stabilizer w the weird warpy things.
You are amazing bro. I like how you mentioned what the locals call the falls.
That place is gorgeous.
Great video and audio experience. For some reason, I found the little mini-falls in the center of the frame at about 3:10 or so to be neat. I was also wondering if there was any interesting effect on the nearby vegetation of basically being watered 24/7/365.

I can't believe I'm only learnig about binaural just now. Its just a whole new world. Thank you!
Wow that water is really loud. What an experience, thanks.
Also sounds awesome with speakers and a sub connected to the tv! Then more than one can watch😊. Great concept guys!
The cat is so cool... She is making you do a high five ✋
That brought back some memories. They've got a practically identical statue of David Livingstone on the Zambia side.
If you really want to know how much water is in the atmosphere and falls as rain then this video just shows you and all this from just one of earth's rivers.
Been to Niagara Falls, very similar sound, I turned the volume up to match the larger size of this one. WOOOOSH!
Amazing. I can feel the force of water in my ears.
image and audio it's very very good quality. Thanks for the trip!
01:18 , experienced cat owners know who hasn't had some "fun" in a long time
It's weird because I was there last year. This video is almost as good as being there. Thank you that I was able to experience it again.
nice audio. that warp stabilizer tho
this is awesome :D. Would be nice with 360 video as well.

Loved the rainbows😍😍
Want more videos like it!!!

That was amazing! Thank you!
Thats my home country!!!! I have been there about 5 times and these are the exact sounds I hear all the time
cat with headphones is hillarious!:) great video as well
Does anyone else notice an eye in the cloud (top right side) at 7:03 O.o
Very cool! Why is this not the default mode for recording sound in videos? It is certainly more engaging!
Amazing :)
I would be interested to see in a future video - 360 video or similar so it can become a full immersion experience with VR
Hi Destin,

what an awesome cat ! he can keeps biting me all day long ❤️
Woah that is really impressive.
This is so peaceful
VERY COOL IDEA MAN , MANY THANKS
Dustin! Please be careful with Prince Rupert's tail!!!!
Awesome and almost terrifying many thanks from NZ
You have people going places to film these videos while I get my binaural audio from minecraft

I feel like I’ve scene this In Lords of the rings… total middle earth mind trip. Great vid

That's actually amazing.
Lucky you made it in time. Today there's but a trickle left.
That is weird and amazing at the same time!
You should definitely do one of the Saturn V Hall at the space and rocket centre.

Really good video, thank you for your time 😃
amazing sound and video thx ;)
nice one! - but 4k would be appreciated
At some parts of the video it's like you almost feel water droplets hit your face
Another awesome video!
You should do one in waves with a surfer
3:10 why it has the sound of a gas pipe open and flowing on top of the actual sound of water crushing on itself. whenever the camera is near the fall, that Open gas Pipe sound appear again.
Can you make a video like this riding a roller coaster?

4K please.
I promise you , if i had the money i would make videos like this, it is my dream for about 5 years now
I love my Beyerdynamic headphones. So realistic with high volume. I close my eyes and imagining someone was carrying me around blind folded. It's kinda scary.
That is f*cking spectacular!
Its like the static noise^^
What do you do about prince rupert's droppings in the garden?
Feel the force of mother nature
