    Hey, how did you go about reattaching the rubber seal between the car body and hatch (the rubber thing where the wires run through)? I can't seem to reattach the seal to the car

    • @hurstysgarage
      @hurstysgarage  Рік тому

      Were you able to get it attached Zack? It is a very tough thing to do but I was able to do it with a couple of swear words and about 30 minutes of work to get that finally seated back on:-)

      Same here! Still can't get it on. Any tips?

      @hurstysgarage  Рік тому

      @@mikesantos4576 Hey Mike...sorry to hear that. It took me a little while to get that stupid thing back on too (a few swear words, some needle nose pliers, and I have smaller fingers helped). The only thing I can suggest is, if you cant get it back on, you maybe can use silicone as a substitute for a hole plug...or some type of filler that is pliable, and will be waterproof!

      Jb weld even, but that is permanent! My first choice though is still trying to finagle that original piece into place. It is possible:-)

      Does anyone know if it just goes over the top of that white sleeve and then it is good? I cannot get it back onto that sleeve/cap thing either. Ugg!
      Oh also I wen to put the subaru fiberglass strip back on the outside and it looks like there is some metal hook things it goes into to. I thought it was just the plastic pop in stud thing nope. Gott take off the entire tan rear door cover again. Fun times! On a seperate note the camera and stereo is working great

    Thanks for the videos. We are about ready to do the same on a 2011 Subaru Forester. Just one question. Did you give any thought on running the B/U camera wire up through the center of the car? I have already removed the center console once before and it wasn't too hard. I'm also curious on the level of difficulty it was to run the wire along the door jams?

    • @hurstysgarage
      @hurstysgarage  Рік тому +1

      Awesome, I'm glad you're taking up the task. I thought it was easier to run through the side along the jams because that is so easy just to pick them up a little bit and shove that underneath there.. you don't even have to take them off. Going through the center divider there and trying to run it through there would have been a lot harder in my opinion. But ultimately it is up to you and both ways are acceptable. Again I just think it's easier going along the door jambs:-)

      @@hurstysgarage appreciate the feedback. Knowing I don't have to remove the jams helps a lot.

    I don't need a backup cam. I need a forward-facing cam. Do you have a video for how to install such? Thanks.

      Hey Me Me...thanks for the video 💡! I do not have one right now, but look out for it here in the near future (that is one of the next things on my list. Is it for a Subie? I know I could have used one MANY times. Thanks for Comment and Watching...I'll let you know:-)

    I watched your other video of installing a new head unit for your radio. Are these both compatible with each other?

      Yes...it did not come with unit, but WORKS GREAT...I do love the camera! No bad things to say about it. Let me know if you do install:-)

    you seem to have skipped over how to remove the door sills to get the cable from the cargo area to the dash......

      Hey me999...I went underneath the dash! Sorry if I didn't show it very clearly. And routed it under the plastic door seals:-)

    Hey Hursty! I just bought this same camera the Enredo J-256 you are showing here. And I also have a SUV. However I can’t still figure out how you reach the reverse lamps when the blue wire needs to be routed up behind the lift gate then inserted thru a wire rubber tubing and down again under the weather strip to reach the reverse lights. The problem is that the long cable extension that connects to the short cable attached to the camera has the blue wire right where you join the two cables, and the wire attached to that camera is way too short. In other words the blue wire is only about 10 inches away from the camera. So I cannot connect that blue wire to the reverse lights because I would need for that wire to be at least 6 to 8 feet to be able to route it to the tail lamps. Also I know that the yellow plug gets connected to the yellow jack behind the radio and the ground to a piece of metal with a screw, but to what wire in the power connector behind the radio did you soldered those red and blue wires? How can you tell to what wire in specific you gonna solder them to to power up the back up cam?

    • @hurstysgarage
      @hurstysgarage  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Ray sorry for the late response.. you will need to buy the appropriate gauge wire, which I'm not too sure exactly what it is right now off the top of my head, but should be similar in size or a tad bit bigger would be okay, and then you route that to the back of the light because you are right, they don't give you enough wire line. And the blue and red wires correspond to the red being the 12 volt Hotwire that connects to your harness 12 volt, and then the blue goes to the backup wire on the wire harness which is I believe also blue. If you do not have the harness, then you'll have to trace those from a wiring diagram to make sure that you have the right wires to them. Hope that helps you buddy:-)

      Absolutely ❤ it Rich...with the fish eye, you see so much more! for the money, I really don't think you can go wrong. I know there are cheaper options, but this camera really looks good (quality), and is exactly what they advertised. Let me know how you like yours when you install it!

      Yeah Alexei, sometimes I get a little crazy explaining things, and of course my editing leaves a lot to be desired...but hopefully you got the jist of install and completed it yourself? Thanks for the advice, and leaving a comment. It is the only way we get better and more proficient! You'll have to watch some of my newer videos to see if I correct things, lol.

      @@hurstysgarage Thank you for the video and for answering. Yes, more or less I figured out the course of actions, I'm plannig to install the camera in a week or so. The camera is already bought (the one designed for Forester - replaces one of the licence plate lamps) The camera is tested if it works with he head unit as designed, the wire that feeds the reverse light is identified and marked (I will tap it inside in order not to punch the rubber). Still not decided how to pull the cable from the trunk to the head unit - over the ceiling or the floor...

    You don't need to take the rear wiper motor out to get to the nuts.... just undo it's bolts and then then spin it with wiper still attached to get to the nuts. My wiper wouldn't come off (it's really stuck on) and so gave up and realised you could just leave it on.
    Also there is no point silicon the hole in the outside trim piece, water is meant to get behind that part so it's not really going to help.
