    Just got a front/rear dash cam and was wondering how to run the wiring to the front. This helped a ton, thanks! When it comes time to update the radio I’ll definitely buy through these links. 🤙

    You are giving me diy confidence to take my entire outback apart! LOL! One question: most receiver/backup cameras I'm researching refer to wiring to the Parking Brake! As you know 10 Outbacks are on the dash left of steering column; did I miss this step? Thanks!!

    So I have a legacy same year pitty much the same. I've noticed behind my radio there's 2 connectors unused taped up. Could these already be for a camera if it was an option or they for something else
    .cheers

    Hi, and thanks for a great video. I am trying to upgrade from an Eclipse AVN726EE to a Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB Radio on my 2010 Subaru Legacy. I got most of the functions working, but cant find the AUX cable on the car side, the one coming from the middle console box behind the cup holders. I also wonder if you succesfully installed the call and hang up buttons in the steering wheel left side. The I wonder about the Light green cable on the radio side. It says: "Used to detect the ON/OFF status of the
    handbrake. This lead must be connected to the power supply side of the handbrake switch" How do you connect that to that hand break button on the left side under the mirror adjustment knobs? And what would it do anyways? Thanks much for a hint

    I may have missed this, but what is different if you have a factory backup camera already (that displays on the rearview)? I have an aftermarket Pioneer headunit and would like to upgrade my backup camera and run it to the new headunit. How is that install different?

      It’s quite a bit of work. In most instances, the rear view mirror powers the camera off of 6v. You’d need to power it with a 12v to 6v reducer, and tap into the video signal and run that signal to the new radio.

    I bought the same head unit and backup camera hoping for my 2012 Forester but I'm having an issue. I hooked it up just like you have but when I out it in reverse it says camera no video signal. Any ideas? Also what gets hooked up to the camera 12v lead on the stereo pigtail?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  2 роки тому

      If it is cycling over to reverse, but there is no camera signal, your camera isn't getting power. The Camera pigtail will need to go to power and ground of the reverse light as well, same location where you tapped in for the reverse light trigger.

    The trigger wire already exists on MY11 Subarus, you don't need to run it from the backup lamp.

    Great Instructions!!!
    I just followed everything is working probably, the only thing that I could figure out was the steering wheels control, I plugged it in on the right spot (SWC) on back of the unit but couldn’t get any signal,
    Any Idea why?
    Thanks men!

      Depends on the radio. If you used the Crux harness, I'd suggest reaching out to their tech support directly.

    Why not have or show install a factory camera on a 2012 legacy with 5”LCD screen. Not everyone wants to put in an aftermarket radio
