Thinking out side the box and utilising the small drill as a handle proves to do the job other pick designs possible one handle. Abus just getting his UA-cam channel launched. well done
Really, really good. I can't afford to buy dimple picks and I was thinking of making some, but hadn't worked out how. So this video is EXCELLENT 😃 Thank You RK 👍🙏🏻❤️
Very glad to hear this video might have been helpful. I should mention there are other way to go about making flags. One that comes to mind is to use those injector pins, and grind, and file them down. It takes a lot longer to make one, but they can look incredible once finished. I believe NigBee has a video on the process of making ejector pins into flags. It might interest you. Good luck on your pick making 👍👍👍
Thank you hopefully it's useful for you as it has veen for me. Heres a link to a vise I use. Yost Tools Yost V-275 Portable Vacuum Base Vise, Pivots Multi-Angle, 2.75” Jaw Width, (1 Pack), Silver a.co/d/aQBaUtD I have beaten this up for a few years and it still is holding up.
Thanks!! I can't remember where I seen it, but I believe I have seen people make them out of injector pins. It would definitely take some time to shape, but might give great results.
That's awesome, I definitely need to give it a shot. I have a few injectior pins I refound, that were left over from making disc detainer picks. Hearing your success is giving me the itch to give it a go. Thanks for sharing the good new. Happy picking my friend P.S my neighbors are no fan of me either lol 😁👍🏻
Hey this is a good idea! Thanks for sharing. Now, this might sound like a stupid question, but where can I find piano wire and those drill bit handles?
Thanks brother. Thats not a stupid question at all. For the hand drills, The easiest and fastest shipping, but more expensive, would be Amazon. The cheaper, but longer shipping wait, would be websites like temu, banggood etc. As for the wire, I found a good mix of sizes on Amazon, (its not exactly piano wire) but it is good stuff. Heres a link if you're interested BBYPP 131Pcs 40cm Lengh Straight Steeless Steel Spring Wire Assortment Kit, 13 Different Full Hard Steel Wire Diameter 0.2mm 0.3mm 0.4mm 0.5mm 0.6mm 0.8mm 1mm 1.2mm 1.4mm 1.6mm 1.8mm 2mm 3mm a.co/d/ahQzcvo If you want piano wire, they have that too, but I didn't see a mix sizes so you'll need to know exactly what diameter you'd want. Hope that helps on getting the ball rolling. Thanks again for checking out the video, really appreciate it. Have a good one 🤜🤛

🤔 yeah, I guess that's one way of making a curved flag. My biggest question is still how to make a 3D printed handle that can hold wires like these and still provide good feedback.
That's an interesting idea, a quick guess I would think you would have to maybe bend the back of the picking wire like a zig zag shape, and then in case it in the 3d printed handle, or some sort of handle with equals part to some how snap on to it. Definitely wish you luck 🤞🏻
The metal you're using looks like stainless steel spring tempered piano wire. I've worked with it extensively and doubt very much your flags will last very long without bending or breaking. Perhaps in an emergency situation your method would be useful. You clearly have skills, but you're using the wrong metal. Have you tried using plastic injector pins instead?
Yes I have done many things with injector pins. This project was for people that don't have things like a Dremel, or didn't want to spend hours with a hand file, or maybe don't have the money to spend on a dimple pick set. As for lasting a long time, nothing lasts forever, but I have lost count on how many locks I've opened (numerous times) using these flags. I also have gotten great feedback from others that have made, and use them. I think you're overestimating the pressure needed for the majority of dimple lock pins, to be set. Now something like a mul-t-lock interactive, would probably be something these flags wouldn't do well with, but the majority of dimple locks don't take much to set pins. I have used these flags for almost a year, And still have the originals from the video. If they do break,(which is totally possible) I will just take 5 minutes and make more.
@@laurenarndt464 yeah not trying to sell this to you lol. I get what your saying though. This was just a DIY project for people at home for the hobby of Locksport. I have Multipick dimple picks for the real locks like Mul-t-lock and higher. That said, they use piano wire in all sorts of applications, one that pops out to me is for picking lever locks, or curtain locks.
LMAO in fairness I said you could use a rock too😆 thank you brother, hope you have a awesome weekend too. All the best to you, and yours brother ! 😁👍🏻 Thanks for the chuckle.
