I never heard of the Glow until now. Amazon really dropped the ball with not marketing it better. I love the advances in technology but I'm also weary of where it's going. Companies don't want us to own anything. We're spending hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on stuff that can become obsolete at any moment. That's not cool in my opinion

Glow was a great product. I was on the fence about buying it for connecting with grandparents and creating shared experiences from a distance for my daughter. But it never felt like Amazon fully believed in the product. I just stumbled across its existence, never having seen any press from Amazon or other tech websites…which was odd. Additionally, shortly after it came out, there were very few non-Amazon videos about it on UA-cam…also odd.
Great concept, decent execution from what I can tell, just no follow through from Amazon. I feel like if they had believed in it, it could have succeeded. Most people didn’t know it even existed.

You forgot the Slingbox! This was one of my favorite devices. It connected directly to a cable box and allowed a user to watch a direct video feed from their cable box to their phone or TV anywhere in the world. It allowed me to watch live stateside TV during my Japan trips. The network completely shut down in November. Obviously there are apps like UA-camTV and SpectrumTV that have similar functionality now, but they are georestricted to the US and are built to block VPN connections. I’m very sad to see this one go 😢

For me, the discontinuation of the iPod was, I thought a poor call on Apple‘s part. The reason being is that the iPod can make a nice back up in case your phone dies and you still need to send mail or other things. It's sad seeing products moving to a 'rented' subscription model where it is bricked if the company discontinues support. For music/movies I still buy the physical CD/Bluray so I own it & am not relying on streaming services that can be discontinued at any time ...

While I knew it was inevitable, I was still a little sad to see Apple finally discontinue the iPod.
But I was very disappointed that Apple did nothing to commemorate the iPod's twentieth anniversary in 2001.
The iMac made Apple trendy again, but the iPod made them profitable again, before the iPhone launched them into the stratosphere. Apple should have done SOMETHING to commemorate this iconic product in their resurgence; even just an iPod-style interface for Apple Music.

Great job on the video. Very entertaining. Maybe some of them will become vintage tech worth a lot of money like the Atari 2600 and first generation Nintendo game systems. You might even get your money back from the Amazon Glow in 30-40 years...mostly for the rarity. Because this was the first time I've heard of it. Lol

That's the biggest issue of modern gadgets: they all rely on some cloud service to work. And we accept that because it offers a lot of convenience. But we are at the mercy of the company which supports these products, and when support ends, your gadgets becomes instant e-waste! That's not gonna change but companies should at least be forced to take the products back and properly recycle them. At least Amazon is doing a decent thing here.
