London's old wholesale markets were always closed on Monday as no produce to sell. Borough Market was Vegetables, Covent Garden Fruit and Flowers, Billingsgate Fish, Smithfield and Spitalfields Meat. Some still follow that Monday closure.
Thanks guys for the video. As a native Londoner you have saved me from the crowds by showing me what the lights look like without having to deal with all the hassle. Bah Humbug! And happy holidays to you both. *Now back to my online hassle free Xmas shopping.
I love the crossover content with Travel Spree!❤️🤗❤️This coverage of the Christmas markets was great. It's so much MORE than I thought it was. More food/ drink/ experiences. 👍
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! It was fun getting to see them again. It was more than we thought it would be too. Excited to see the markets in Germany now. That's apparently where they started and they go all out.
We went to London last year right before the Christmas markets in October. We loved London, bit I must say that may be on our bucket list in the future. The lights and food looked amazing!
London and all of the different markets look so fun! Love the dedication to watch the Ravens play late 😂😂 I typically watch the highlights the next morning with coffee.
Hey what's up! Thanx 4 sharing your trip with us! I'm planning a trip to London and Paris next year and you guys have given me a lot of ideas and tips to make my travel dope! Thanx a lot 4 that! I love your content and you have a new subscriber! Look 4ward 2 seeing more! Cheers!!
I was in London a year ago just before Christmas, the best time to visit Covent Garden Market (my photo stamp says Theatre District) to see the bells and the giant tree was after midnight - our group of five were the only ones there and we took a photo standing under the tree - so magical! Also no snow, but it was late.
Shout out for the hat. I didn't think it looked bad? Great video. I might have to do some touristy things, next time i head down to London. Definately the food markets
I’m in love with these Christmas Markets! You all had such a great time, which made it all more festive! I’m with you, that camera shop would have made me so happy! Hopefully someday I can see all this myself. Merry Christmas!
The homesickness really hits with these Christmas vlogs 😭 Christmas isn’t the same here! Glad you had a good time, Merry Christmas to you and all who celebrate ❤❤ (and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, happy holidays!)
Came from the FareDrop channel (voted for you two originally and was so excited you won). 🖤 Loving your videos on your own channel here as well!! This one hit the spot for the holiday season for sure lol. But am excited for more from your England trip too!! Cheers!
Our first ever video on our channel was UK Christmas Market video related. It's terrible. 😂 We need to revisit and make a proper video for sure! You guys need to visit the Christmas Markets in Germany or Austria. Nothing beats them! 😍
Haha relatable. I'm tempted to private all our first videos every time they pop up. Germany and Austria are on the list for next year now that we've gotten to experience our first. Keep telling everyone I want to see Krampusnacht too 😂
@TheDetourDuo We have a video on our channel where we did a Krampusnacht last year. They beat the HELL out of us. We had welts all over our legs. Still worth it..😂
We like to think we're a mix of both, but we really aren't good food reviewers. We can't pull off those types of reactions to food. If it's good it gets a head nod. If it's not great we'll say it's meh, and that's about the extent of it. This video just happened to be one of our most food-heavy because there's only so much else you can do at a Christmas market unless you're shopping
Hi! Came here from Fain and Laura’s channel. I saw you both filming at the same time so I thought I would get your perspective. Cheers!! Happy London travels 👍🏻
Love the sweater! ALSO - you have to come up with random ways to entertain yourself like drumming to the beat when you're traveling on a budget. That is us approximately 100% of the time. haha
Awesome! I had no idea what to expect in terms of food, but that sausage roll won me over! Looked sooooo good. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Love you both!!
Love this. What a beautiful time of year to visit London. The markets look amazing each with their own charm. So glad you got to Covent. All the food looks comforting ❤ Thank you so much for sharing! Happy Holidays to both of you❤❤😘🌹✌🏻
That transition from 4:21-4:25 was so cool. The Detour Duo for the win!!!!! Tony and Sarah are my favorite travel vloggers ever and now I know why. Tony is a Marylander and Sarah is Tony's wife.
Greggs is the best. Ended up with an electric rental car last time we were in the UK - spent a lot of quality time at Greggs charging it up. This makes me want to go back! :)
This was more enjoyable and relatable than a video I watched last year of a couple christmas market hopping through europe. why did I watch their content when I could watch you guys? Im glad Kara and Nate brought me over here. You are in Europe so don't forget to try and add some historical context in here. For example, London was founded during the roman empire. Your home country was founded 250 years ago. So London has been here celebrating christmas 8 times as many christmases as the USA has. Thats nuts.
Thanks! That is pretty nuts. When we realized we were staying in houses older than the US. That was the part where things starting to feel a little mind blowing. We even found an inn that was dated at 947
Next year you have to go visit Krampus celebrations. They are all over, but mostly German tradition. I wish i had friends I could go to christmas markets with. I guess UA-cam is the grinch so you can't do their music, but it would be fun to see more of the actual events or actual programs they hold
@TheDetourDuo yeah same 😄 Luckily we live in West London so we're going back to Cov Garden next weekend again to see it. Great videos btw! That Sunday roast looked epic!
I live here in London and funny enough, I try to avoid the Christmas Markets due to the crowd, so it was nice to see what I miss. I have to tell though, that I will still avoid London's Christmas markets. Btw... it makes me gain weight seeing you guys eating 😂. Thanks for another great video.
Hopefully you didn't waste your sleep on the Philly game. Ravens need to wake up! Anyway another amazing video! Are you guys thinking of planning a group trip in the future?
totally wasted my sleep on the Philly game. They looked like they were just waiting for the bye to come 😑 Not sure. We've discussed it, but it's more or less just a thought at this point. Don't even know where we'd want to do a group trip
Covent Garden = The snow usually comes out of blowers on the roof above Laduree. Chanel is a xmas present ribbon.. a lot of stores do it .the Covent Garden branch of my bank used to..Also LOVING how respectful you are asking before taking photos... if only more were like you. PS here for the quick burst of George Michael on the way out of Attendant LOL
Someone mentioned it doesn't start until some time in December. We were about a week early. The ribbon makes sense now that you say it. I'm sure it would have been obvious once it was set up and the lights were on.
there not sponsored lights anymore in central London I think opting for my eco friendly options. Hopefully you didn't miss the 7 dials lights north of covent garden square the lights their are really nice
Yeah, definitely not against being more eco-friendly, which is why we made the case to acknowledge how they were utilizing the lights even though we were a bit disappointed as well. I think we did happen to see those after we gave up waiting for the fake snow.
I'm pretty partial to Sony having only used Sony and Nikon, and on occasion Fuji. But I'd say the Sony a6000 series will be your best bet, especially for a beginner because it's small and lightweight, and not expensive. Cannon cameras seem to have the best color science to my eye but I don't know much about them.
The first sausage roll you got from Mrs. King's is much more like how a sausage roll should be. The ones from the Ginger Pig have WAY too much filling for me, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that. 🤷♂️
What are your thoughts on Christmas markets?

Love them🙌🏻 The more lights the better!! Spiced cider yum❤❤❤
Borough market - The mussels, clam and seafood concoction dish is the very traditional native Spanish “ PAELLA” ….enjoy guys.
Ah, thanks for educating us! Everyone looked like they were enjoying it. The line was way too long to wait though
Thanks guys for the video. As a native Londoner you have saved me from the crowds by showing me what the lights look like without having to deal with all the hassle. Bah Humbug! And happy holidays to you both. *Now back to my online hassle free Xmas shopping.

This has really inspired us to want to see more markets around Europe. I hope you do get to experience it one day soon
London and all of the different markets look so fun!
Love the dedication to watch the Ravens play late 😂😂 I typically watch the highlights the next morning with coffee.
Gotta rep those Ravens! I was mad I stayed up, and they lost. 😅
❤ merry Christmas 🎄🎁, tou two are adorable.... The energy even in the cold is infectious 🎉🎉
Merry Christmas to you too! It was definitely a fun one. The videos are way more fun to make when the positive vibes we want to send are felt
Brilliant video! The Ginger Pig is the ONE! So glad you went there
Yeah, the Ginger Pig was amazing! I feel bad for dissing Mrs. King's but it didn't hold a candle to the other rolls we tried
Nothing wrong with sharing an honest opinion! And you showed it was more flaky pastry than sausage… some people will LOVE that review! ❤
@@hannahmonkcom That's so true. Thanks for the encouragement

I didn't even think it would be open, or the lights would be on that late.
I've been to New York City during Christmas, and I have to say that London looks even nicer and more festive.
right! and I feel like London was tame compared to the likes of Germany. Got the itch to see more in different countries
@@TheDetourDuo As Shia LaBeouf would say "Just Do It"
Shout out for the hat. I didn't think it looked bad?
Great video. I might have to do some touristy things, next time i head down to London. Definately the food markets
Thanks. I didn't think it looked too bad either haha
Your travel videos are simply fantastic! They inspire me to explore new places and plan my own adventures. Please keep them comin
Thank you! Will do! I hope you do make some great adventures and memories of your travels

The homesickness really hits with these Christmas vlogs 😭 Christmas isn’t the same here! Glad you had a good time, Merry Christmas to you and all who celebrate ❤❤ (and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, happy holidays!)
The holidays really do hit different when you're not home 😭Merry Christmas to you too!
This was so much fun! Everything looked amazing, and the food looked delicious ❤🎉
We're so glad you enjoyed it! We're already thinking about our next trip going to other markets in Europe.

Loved your vlog guys, Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you! You too & Happy holidays!

Greggs is the best. Ended up with an electric rental car last time we were in the UK - spent a lot of quality time at Greggs charging it up. This makes me want to go back! :)
Greggs is a great way to spend time! A couple people told us to try the steak or chicken bake there too

We’ve got Krampus on the list for next year! That's #1 on the European Christmas market tour if we can do one
Shoulda bought the hat Tony, it looked mad good dude!
I'm saying!!!
We did the same thing last week waiting for the snow in Covent Garden. Then we found out it only happens in December 😅
ooh!!!! Well that's news. Explains so much. So many people were waiting around lost like us 😅

Chanel decorating begun is the cross bar of a wrapped Christmas package.
We did end up finding that out. Makes sense now. It probably would have been more obvious to me if it were finished and lit up
Interessante Eindrücke, danke dafür

I want to. We might take a long trip to Germany because we want to be there for Oktoberfest too.
Love love love the Greedy Goat in Borough Market!
Same. I was so impressed with it. Helps that one of the nicest people I've ever met was working too
Where do guys stay when in London? Do you go Airbnb, hotel or Aparthotels? Bc London is EXPENSIVE!
First place we stayed was called Kensington Rooms. It was 100 a night. The second hotel we stayed we booked off hotel points

Aaron was a pretty dope guy! Wait, where Sara's Emmy Speech?
Haha I had to cut it. She didn't have a mic on so the music was too loud to isolate her voice

Your friend Laura looks like Nicola Coughlan
I can see it when they smile
what are you talking about? Spending two nights out drinking, and then wake up and eat seafood for breakfast? Yum lolz.
lol
