You need to understand dynamics between London and the rest of the UK. There is huge jealousy and resentment from the rest of UK towards London because there is a false belief London gets all the funding and gets everything first and the rest of the UK is underfunded because London. The truth is no city in the entire UK gets less of the money they generate than London as much of the money it generates is given to other less economically productive parts of the UK. Due to London being the most economically productive part of the UK, it also has more wealthy people and the rest of the UK hate that tourist only really want to go London, instead of the rest of the UK, so constantly say London is terrible place, as if eating mushy peas and warm beer in the north is better alternative than high quality restaurants in London.
Also we can’t sugarcoat this but a lot of criticism London gets from the rest of the UK is thinly veiled racism. The entire UK population is 94% white. London is a 50% people of colour city. No city in the UK has such a high percentage of people colour or more people colour. So you find people from much whiter less diverse parts of the saying London is terrible because it is less white than other cities in the UK.
Don’t let British people from other parts of the UK fool you with their envy and racism. London has the highest tourist rating of any place in the in the UK and Europe and is above New York and Paris for positive feedback on Trip Advisor.
Quick tip don’t go to places where rich neighbours where Millionaires live like Kensington and Mayfair because you will just be paying for overpriced everything. Explore more East, North and South London like Shoreditch, Hoxton, Canary Wharf, Greenwich, Hackney, Stratford, Camden, Walthamstow where there is more of hipster vibe with reasonable prices.

@@Delboy0 I've never heard of any jealousy of London. What most people don't get is we live in a beautiful country with so much history, but tourists tend to go to the cities, mainly London, or Scotland/Ireland. People are just trying to open eyes to the rest of the UK , i.e. Cornwall, Devon, the Jurassic Coast, Lake District, Northumberland, also Wales. To name but a few.

    • @Delboy0
      @Delboy0 3 дні тому

@@debbee0867 the rest of the UK being super overtop negative is about jealousy and partly thinly veiled racism. They are angry that tourist prefer London over the rest of the UK. While the places can be nice, they are very one note places that don’t have the variety to attract huge numbers of tourists like London. You would go to them for something very specific.

@@Delboy0 You obviously don't like landscape and beauty and prefer architecture, there is nothing wrong with that. Some of us like both. Someone can easily spend two weeks in say Cornwall and not see all the sights.
I think this jealousy and anger is all in your head. I live in Hampshire and have never heard of any of what you are saying from anyone about London, and I work with people from many different towns. Also, what are you on about racism?, we are one of the least racist countries there is.

@@Delboy0 Other cities have a high population of people of colour but tend to be more of just one or two races, like Birmingham with people from the Indian Sub Continent, not the mixed from all over the world of London. Many London Boroughs have a high single race population which has changed over the years, such as the East End/Docklands from the Hugenoets (Flemish, 16th and 17th centuries) to Jewish (19th and 20th centuries) and now Bangladeshi. Many escaping from religious or racial persecution and tended to settle where a common language is prevalent and the ship docked. Every English person is of mixed race going back to Anglo Saxon times. We are a nation of immigrants.

Even before it got its new name of Elizabeth in honour of Queenie’s Jubilee, it was cleverly called The Clock Tower, but people still called it Big Ben then! … and it will always be known as that … and why not? Queen Elizabeth RIP had many buildings, ships, bridges, parks etc named the Queen Elizabeth “something” during her very long reign, so she probably didn’t mind the Tower being called Big Ben - made a change 😄

Further north: The Peak District (Mam Tor, Curbar, Bakewell), The Lake District (but pick less touristy areas and plan your own walks in the hills), North Yorkshire (York, Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Staithes), Holy Island and Bambrugh castle. Cities: London, Manchester (I'm only not listing Liverpool and Newcastle because I haven't been there yet). As someone from the UK there's a lot of reasons I guess why some people hate London. Sometimes the criticisms aren't all that serious, it's just the kinda inter-regional banter that we have in the UK, a northerner might instinctively prefer the north over the south, and that's fine. Then there's people who just prefer smaller, less busy towns or the peace and quiet of the countryside - again, that's fine too, and plenty of Londoners go out intot he country on a regular basis for the same reason. But then there's a vocal minority of people who hate London for very unsavoury reasons. They simply cannot accept that London is a successful, multicultural global city with people from every race, religion and culture. And that's a shame for them that they'll keep going missing out on what the city can offer. I'm not from London but only an hour away, I love visiting the city and I'm very proud of London: its history, its people, its architecture, and one of its football teams

A bit of an oversimplification. The UK economy is built around the financial service sector which is largely based in London.
So it isn’t a surprise that London generates a lot of the UK’s output. The Deindustrialised areas of UK, particularly in the north of England which used to be Manufacturing centres, will never be able to catch up with London’s Financial Centre, because of the way the UK economy is structured. The whole levelling up thing was a gimmick. You go to a town like Middlesborough or Rotherham and they will never in a million years be able to bring in the level of revenue the City of London brings in.

As someone who lives in the West Country, I think you're being a hypocrite.
You're jealous of open spaces, and clear air with actual oxygen in it, and not having to exchange sweat with strangers on the tube, and less tourists, and almost affordable houses, and good fish and chips that don't cost £50 (WTF was that even about?), and being able to park next to your house.
To be fair, back in the day when I lived in Herts, I did go into London a fair bit. And it's a great place. So much to do, see, eat, watch, kill, photograph, learn about, history, yada yada.
I even commuted into London for my job. Twice. That was enough, and after that I simply refused to.
I just don't think the resentment of London by non-Londoners is anything like you claim. And not for the reasons you mentioned either. Maybe I'm missing out on the political and racist vibes you mentioned. But you went there first. Which to me says that's _your_ agenda, not that of the entirety of the UK you claim to speak for.
And it has the highest tourist rating in the UK? Of course it does; that's why people outside London (and even some in it) try and avoid it if at all possible.

People seem to have no idea.. I cannot tell you how many (Non Londoners) have been to visit my part of London and thought was beautiful and peaceful.
But sure.. let's keep up the old trope - London is shit and busy and lonely

London is expensive at you might expect.... the north of England is a lot cheaper and the Fish & Chips are cheaper and better IMO

Sorry but you both suck dude! Click baiting video title and insulting one of greatest cities in the world! Oh and you come from Baltimore! lol.

We started the video citing sources from actual people in our comments saying it sucks, as well as a multitude of articles claiming the same. We then stated in the video that we were out to prove those claims wrong and find for ourselves what magic the city held. What about any of that made you think it was clickbait and insulting? lol 😁

People from the rest of the country always run down London, they haven’t a clue. It’s a great Capitol, full,of some stunning beautiful buildings and sites. If you want a dump,go North.
