A much under appreciated song. Not to sound depressing, we all will die. People in their 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s, 20s, those only 10, those only born a minute ago. This is the natural course of life.
We have to ride the waves of life, celebrate the joy, and ride through those difficult times. Because they happen. Such is the human condition.
But, we are all stronger than we think we are. I've gone through some devastating times in my life. But then, sometimes - much after, I catch myself laughing at something. And I suddenly remember these past events. During those times, I couldn't even imagine a time in the future I'd be laughing at something as simple as a TickTock video.
We get through it.
Not that it matters, but I'm 64
You got it straight away. It is a love song. The man who proceeded his woman in death comes back to comfort his woman in her final moments. She's terrified. He assures her that she has nothing to fear. His love for her transcended this plane so much that he's there for her. Also, the reaper isn't death itself. It comes AFTER to carry souls to where they are supposed to go. Great reaction. 👍🏿
Thank you for watching and leaving this comment, I really appreciate it 🙏
Thanks for the mention. This song is also famous for featuring a cowbell.
Oh really!!! Had no idea 🤷🏽♀️ I really enjoyed this, thanks for the recommendation.🙏☺️
Dharma said, he wrote it when he was young and pondering his own death. He decided death is inevitable and there's no need in fearing it. You hit the bullseye with your take on it. 🌹
Thank you so much . ☺️🙏
It's just stunning how people state that it's a song about suicide. It's so far from that, and really quite obvious. Not to mention the fact that the dozens of on-line interviews with the writer regarding the inspiration behind the song and explanation of the lyrical content.
Of course it's about suicide. Why else mention Romeo and Juliet " . . . together in eternity."? "They looked backward and started to fly"? "Came the last night of sadness and it was clear she couldn't go on"? B O Cult, at that time had a pretty dark reputation, so my guess is that they devised a cover story to placate radio stations that it was not about a suicide pact. Remember this was back in a time where banning songs was a thing. Look what happened to The Animals "Sky Pilot."
Basic rule of interpretation, writers don't put words in by accident. If there are metaphors possible to draw, they were intended.
That was well said, thank you.
Thanks for watching!🙏😊
Its an iconic sound
Smooth but it rocks 🤘🏽😎... and yes... check out SNL funny skit about making this song 😂🤣
Oh, cool, that sounds interesting I’ll check that out
Great reaction! Also Saturday Night Live has a hilarious skit called More Cowbell that features cast members as Blue Oyster Cult trying to record this song! Will Ferrell plays the cowbell in the skit.
Oh , sounds interesting. I’ll like too check that out
Check out BOC "Then Came the Last Days of May"
Okay 👍🏽
One of the best rock-metal band🤘
👍Good performance and reaction. As for me and The Reaper I say, "O death, where is thy sting". 🖖❤
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment 👍🏽🙏☺️
❤😊
THis song is about suicide. The Reapers was talking to her mind and he finally convinced her to jump out of the window. When the song was made 40,000 people a day commited suicide, today that number is higher as is the world population.
It sad but so true.
As stated by the composer, this song is about eternal love and the inevitability of death, not suicide.
i dont think you quite get the meat of the song. its about suicide!
