RIP Slayer
Slayer are such nazis sympathizers that the guitarist said he thought cops killing
Black people is wrong.
Dixie Wrect the best one, Brother.. Dave(Megadeth) said..
Morningrise indeed!
Robert Miles you don’t like nazis yet you think it’s ok for cops to kill black people! You’re fucked up pal! Oh an Slayer are not nazi sympathisers! They were pointing out the brutality of these people!

Most underrated comment.
Two years later, and the reply still stands.
One of Jeff Hanneman's greatest compositions. RIP.
ilovehearses I agree.
Abso - Fuckin' - Lutely!!
In my opinion his greatest
It is. When you see them live, they close out the show with this song. Right as the song starts, they drop a banner across the back of the stage thats a tribute to Jeff,
@@mikerose9313 Luckily when I saw them live twice, it was with Hanneman.
When I first heard this song I thought Tom's opening scream was a guitar.
Jakob Synn he just stubbed his toe
I’m just realizing this, and I’ve heard the song tons of times 😂
It is, gary sqeuls the guitar, and the guitar turns into toms scream
Same actually lol

I was in my late teens at the time it was released. We'd had Metallica's first LP Kill Em All and Megadeth's Killing is My Business and we thought they were the fastest heaviest stuff we'd ever heard... And then came Slayer.
Exactly 🤘
Humanity has never and will never see a better time then this
I'm a super metal head myself.. Metallica's like my all time favorite! Gods of thrash and riffs! But I gotta admit, Angel Of Death hits very differently! I agree with Alex a hundred percent! Slayer is the f*ckin' epitomy of intensity! Oh my God!

@@deadinsidemcgee411 yep, it's about 28 minutes.
I was a young adult when this song was released in the late 80's. I tipped my hat to Slayer because prior to this, many young kids and teens were unaware of the Holocaust at the time. This song was an introduction to history for many.
Yo, even now kids are unaware of how bad and impactful the holocaust I remember in my Language Arts class in freshman year we were assigned a book called Night and it was about the holocaust, and before reading the book she asked us what we know about the holocaust and at least 3/4 of the class did not know what it was.
Abacination is a form of torture, blinding a person with a red-hot metal plate held before the eyes.
Fun fact: the 2007 book Foyle’s Philavery, a compilation of obscure words, includes abacinate, along with the note that this song’s use of the word was the only print example in history they could locate.
Sounds like a method from the Roman Empire ...
I always wondered about that, too. Tom Araya has an incredible vocabulary.
This is why Dave Lombardo is The Godfather of double bass.

These guys should have got a grammy for these lyrics. How many of you didn't know about Mengele before Slayer? I didn't, but I bought this album when I was 10. I learned that there are real monsters, Mengele is pretty close to the top of that list. Unit 731 is pretty close to the top of that list too. 1:45 when you find out there’s no candy in the van
first time I heard this I was just a kid in the early 80's and was just amazed at the speed, lyrics , and composition of the song, just a terrifying scenerio based on the true story.
Really though, I've been listening to this song for 30 years. I play drums in a SLAYER tribute band, and this song still gives me chills.
Loved at the beginning your yawn was almost in sync with the scream.
That double bass break/ solo is one of the most iconic drum breaks in metal.
Cheers.
Although Hanneman regularly had SS and Wehrmacht iconography on his guitars (such as the totenkopf death head) and such, I don't EVER remember seeing any band member posing with any swastikas ANYWHERE on them.
Never ever saw a swastica myself?
mmrseed yup
Must say Jeff's signature ESP with SS lightening bolts up the fret board was pretty neat.

As I said, Jeff had lots of Nazi related imagery on his guitars and apparently dug Nazi crap.....but the band has never POSED with Swastikas. That is a VERY specific symbol so if the google search shows slayer posing with a swastika please show it

Their most loved song, on their most popular album.
Not my favorite song on the album, or my favorite album of theirs. But damn it's fantastic, a timeless classic that has yet to be matched by anyone.
You asked what abaccination was, and I agreed that the word in of itself did sound cool, so I checked it up.
According to Wikipedia, Abaccination is "a form of corporal punishment or torture, in which the victim is blinded by having a red-hot metal plate held before their eyes."
Due to the subject in this song (as in, what it is about), it's not all that surprising. And now that I've learned what it means, it doesn't strike me as all that cool anymore.
On a sidenote, your yawn in the beginning was perfect timing for the scream.
You nailed it dude....ive seen them 12 times here in CANADA.....it's INTENSE LIVE!!!!!!
I've heard this song live 3 times. Gets better and better every time.
BTW, Public Enemy used to sample the riff that starts at 3:25. So this guys probably not the first hip hop head who thought this was dope.
Came to leave the P.E Comment. Already Posted! Rock On. BTW the song was "She Watch Channel Zero"
Juan Taylor correct! I’ve mentioned this a few times elsewhere!👍
A few things:
- It's pronounce "Yo-Sev Meng-a-luh"
- This song was intended to showcase the evils of the Nazi experiments at Auschwitz. It's not glorifying anything. So "headbanging along" isn't an endorsement of the activities, but an acknowledgment of their inhumanity, and an agreement to the sentiment "fuck the Nazis". Don't feel guilty.
- I was eagerly waiting to see your reaction to the opening scream XDz
= Abacination is a torture method that induces blindness, by holding a red-hot metal plate very close to the victim's eyes, while they're bound and unable to stop it. Although it's also been used, less commonly, to define an even more evil practice of binding a victim to a table, and very slowly dripping corrosive substances into the victim's eyes, drop by drop, until they die. This is believed to have been one of Mengele's vicious "experiments". And of course, the reason for the line "Abacinate! Eyes that bleed!"
Kaptain K Phonetics on point boss
Ava inaction is fucked as hell
I think he was trying to change the colour of the eyes (read about it long ago) not torturing or executing them but yeah abacinating is the best word for it, especially for a song and since that's what the psycho accomplished.
@@sakurasfish2115 Technically, torture was never the actual goal of any of his experiments. He just had zero concern about it. The goal was information, such as whether humans can artificially change genetics, as well as testing the limits of human exposure to chemicals and extreme conditions.
Obviously, the issue at hand was the horrific nature of the experiments, lack of consent by subjects, or concern for their safety or suffering. Using Jews as literal lab rats. Therefore, they were seen as crimes against humanity, regardless of any potential benefit they may provide to science.
Well done, intense, u've got the spirit!
