HIP HOP FAN'S FIRST TIME HEARING 'Slayer - Angel Of Death' | GENUINE REACTION

  • There's something about good music that makes me emotional. It may sound silly but I sometimes feel like I can physically feel music and when I can it makes me feel all different types of emotions. I have only ever heard 2 Slayer songs now and both have them have been unreal. The true musicianship that has gone into making both songs is unreal.
    Here is my reaction to hearing Slayer - Angel Of Death for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

      Me too mate, I was 14 and heard Angel of death for the first time on a local radio show that played heavy metal once a week for 2 hours late on a Tuesday night in Sydney , totally blew me away and I have loved Slayer ever since. This Album Reign in Blood is considered by many.. including me as the best Thrash Metal album of all time.. there are others up there like Megadeth's. Rust in Peace and of course Master of Puppets... and yes sometimes it is good to know what the songs are about before hand as it can change the way you see the song like “Angel of Death” a thrash metal classic .The lyrics describe the atrocities committed during the Holocaust by a sadistic doctor referred to as the “Angel of Death”. The song’s opening lyrics are “Auschwitz, the meaning of pain / The way that I want you to die”. The song’s title is a reference to the nickname given to the Nazi physician Josef Mengele, who performed gruesome experiments on Jewish and Romani inmates at Auschwitz concentration camp between 1943 and 1945. The song’s vividly grotesque imagery has caused controversy and accusations of pro-Nazi sentiment. However, the band has stated that the song was written to raise awareness of the horrors of the Holocaust and to condemn the actions of the Nazis.

    Dave Lambardo, drummer, is a G.O.A.T. when it comes to drums. He's referred to as the Godfather of double bass, uses no triggers of any kind and to this day can still maintain that same momentum of double bass. He's what inspired me back in the day as a teen to venture further into my drumming experience. It's his technique is how I gain my speed and power playing double bass. Unfortunately He's no longer with Slayer but moved on to other projects. Grip Inc was his next move and does a lot of creative drumming he wasn't able to do in Slayer, but still kept the sound and speed as if he was still part of Slayer. Any song off of Reign in Blood is recommended, however Postmortem and Raining Blood are back to back with each other. Do whole album reaction. Also I suggest react blind not knowing anything yet about song and give your thoughts of what you believe the meaning is then research the info and discover it's true meaning. Slayer are the KINGS of Thrash...Dave Lombardo "Godfather of double bass, Jeff Hanneman riff genius, Kerry King Shred demon, Tom Araya the voice, Paul Bostaph 2nd drummer, Gary Holt who replaced Hannean after he died, ALL God tier musicians...Slayer is 1 of the most influential bands of ALL TIME. Even though Kerry's lyrics always went for death,war,suicide, necrophilia, politics, Tom is a devout catholic. When they got shit for their lyrics, especially doing angel of death being about Mengele, the critics tagged them as Nazi's. The band flipped everyone off and leaned into the shock lyrics and view points to make fun of the critics. For 30+ yrs Slayer never changed, never gave into industry pressure, and every live show was a kick in the balls. They retired to soon. FUCKIN SLAAAAAAAAYER FOREVER🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😈😈😈

And the riff right before the lyric "pumping fluid inside your brain." Is used in the Public Enemy song She Watches Channel Zero.

    I cry when I hear the music that speaks to my soul. It's often just parts within a song, and it has little to do with genre, but I think sometimes, the sheer emotional investment the artists imbue into their music transfers into the listener, and fills them with just a touch of what it feels like to be that artist.

    I saw Slayer on their farewell tour in 2019. It was beautiful chaos. Mosh pits broke out everywhere. I ended up in one and my one friend ended up in another. He ended up getting knocked over and sat on a dude's head by accident. A few minutes later, he comes back to me looking mortified and says "I think I just killed a man". Guy was fine, though. 😂
    Towards the end of the set, Tom Araya (vocalist and bass player) takes a moment between songs and just stares at the audience, grinning ear to ear. You could tell the man loves his job.
    I can only imagine what their concerts were like when this song was new in the '80s.

I would say either All Hail the New Flesh, Detox, or AAA from City, for Alien do Love (full version, not the video version). Ed gein actually wasn't a serial killer, he only murdered 2, the rest of the bodies were freshly buried in the local Plainfield cemetery so technically he was a double murderer after becoming a grave robber. The butcher of Plainfield title given to him came more from what he did to the bodies after death, his method of killing was shooting. He was suspected of 7 other murders of missing people however, they were never proven, gein took a lie detector test and passed, the missing people ranged from children to men which didn't fit geins M.O. Even though gein was found competent to stand trial and was found guilty of first degree murder he was declared legally insane and served the rest of his life in a mental health facility until his own death. Gein is the inspiration for many art forms not just music but classic movies such as psycho, Texas chainsaw massacre & silence of the lambs among others. Pretty macabre character by all accounts but fascinating from a psychology POV.

That last time, with Cannibal Corpse and Amon Amarth, I just wanted to be closer so my 50-year old ass jumped the fence barricade and texted my husband - "I'm in the pit in front of Gary! There's a dude at the fence who'll hold your beer while you jump it!" He joined me a few minutes later. At the end, people were hugging and crying. We didn't want it to end.

    Back when this album came out, these guys were trying to push the boundaries of how fast and heavy they could play. It's hard to believe that it's just over 38 years since it's release but a lot of other bands, both past and present, have said how much it influenced them. Funny thing was that they hadn't intended on having the album clock in at 29 minutes in length.

    Let me say this, SLAYER IS THE GREATEST BAND TO EVER WALK THE EARTH 🌎. Tom Arya has the voice of an angel. He is the GREATEST LEAD SINGER OF ALL TIME. Metallica can't even come close to the power and the heaviness of SLAYER. You should really sit and listen to the lyrics to all of SLAYERS songs. The way they write songs is amazing.

      What a weird post. Metallica doesn't try to play this heavy.... They don't need to. They're the best at what they do. There are other bands heavier than Slayer but that doesn't mean they're better than Slayer.
      Yet again in the end everyone is compared to Metallica instead of just enjoying music for what it is. 🙄

      @@slayerstacker2074Are you dense? Where did I say anything about new Metallica? Their first 4 albums are the best in metal history. I can care less what they put out now. I love Slayer but there are levels of music genius and Slayer is clearly behind old Metallica.... But everyone else is also.

    • @slayerstacker2074
      @slayerstacker2074 4 місяці тому

      @blitz3643, you never once indicated old Metallica the first time. You just said Metallica. You say Metallica's first four albums were better than Slayers. I STRONGLY disagree. All SLAYER FANS will disagree as well. Metallica can't match the lyrical genius of SLAYER. James will never match the pure evil that Tom has in all of Slayers songs. You add the evil to the raw power and heaviness of Slayer, and they are untouchable. Metallica might have been heavy and hard there first four albums. But that's it. SLAYER has done it for 30 years.

    • @blitz3643
      @blitz3643 4 місяці тому

      @@slayerstacker2074 I don't have to indicate anything. Your post was silly. Metallica's first 4 albums were the best in heavy metal history and it's not close. Of course a Slayer fan will disagree lol (but they know they'd be wrong). You can't seem to understand that heaviness doesn't equal better. Like I said there are many bands heavier than Slayer that are nowhere near slayers caliber. But nothing can touch the musical genius of the first 4 Metallica albums. The writing, music and production is unmatched. I'm a big Slayer fan but I admit the obvious. You should try it someday.
