Those who have LOVED this song for decades should be moved by this...The singer has that killer Gabriel warble...All the musicians did such an amazing job...Beautifully performed. The mellotron sound was sublime! I'd have that same ear to ear grin if I was nailing those Banks lines too...Such a fun song to play...I will share, save, sub, favorite and it's in my Greatest Prog playlist...Thanks for your gift to the world...Cheers!
Genesis fan since my very earliest memories, always thought of this song as not only underrated and/or overlooked, but as one of my my personal favourites. This is absolutely fantastic, to see such a good band do this absolute justice 🙌❤️
Yes, one of my top 10 Genesis tracks. Very complex instrumentally, but The Watch are near note-perfect with the great original. The singer doesn't look like Gabriel but his voice is similar, and he makes it sound English as Gabriel tended to. Great job!
U guys are amazing but this puts into perspective how amazing genesis were... These kids were barely out of teenage years producing the greatest ever of prog rock.. Thank you for keeping it alive guys
I know them since 2006. They already played Can Utility and also Hogweed at the time. Now they concentrate more on the genesis cover side than their own production but they still have several albums that are really worth...
My god I thought that I had just traveled back in the Tardis to Oct 1972 and walked into Wilson and Peck in Sheffield on my way home from work on Friday with my weekly wage packet in my pocket to pick up Foxtrot and jump on the bus to head off home, then run up the stairs and place it on my turntable close the bedroom door and lay on the bed and just listen and soak it up and let it take me away to another place. That's how good this is,what makes it 99% there is the totally spot on vocal, the best (other than PGs) vocal on Genesis stuff I've ever heard.👍 Will keep an eye out for definite.
Great vocals! There is a reason that Genesis could not easily find a replacement singer for Gabriel after auditioning something around a hundred singers: it's just bloody hell to pull it off and luckily Phil did it and turned into one of the best vocalists out there. Interestingly enough in my opinion your vocalist here pulls it off as well. Great work and as for the music such an amazing attention to detail. Thanks for this- Well done!!
One of my favorite Genesis tacks from Foxtrot. What's really amazing is that these guys are playing live and it sounds like a studio recording where, obviously, many takes are done to get the right sound, and to add tracks with different instruments and so forth. Even though these guys rehearsed and played this many times live, this was skillfully achieved with perfect timing, perfect sound, and impeccable musicianship. Nice going, lads!
Just brilliant. The attention to detail is incredible. You are just amazing. We miss you so much and look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible ❤️❤️❤️❤️
And, I believe creating a flute easier for flute players to play is beTTer than creating another piano key board of which incorporates a C flat note - as opposed to keeping it the way it is i.e. there is no such thing as a C flat note - it is called a "B".
They are playing only such a tiny tiny slower which makes it even more brilliant! I am deeply impressed as a longtime Genesis fan with „Firth of Fifth“ as my alltime favourite!
awesome playing of this genesis classic😮guys.I salute you,a job well done!!!😮😊 genesis happens to be one of my favorite progressive rock bands. what's not to like. Prog on !!!!
Excellent !
Had the absolute pleasure of seeing this wonderfully talented band in Scotland just 2 weeks ago 5th November 2021 . second time they have visited here .. Thank you for a wonderful evening
GREAT job.... incredible sound and a song not easy to play. You honored it well. The guys would approve! Oh and I do love the keyboardist passion while playing !! Kuddos !!
The Ric coming in at 3:57 is so tasty..He really nailed it...Just stopping by to say I still love this cover...I hope all you and yours are in good health...:)...
2:18 Love those brief shots of the pedal bass - Genesis used that so effectively to get a rumbling, powerful bottom end like no other band of their time. Great performances by all involved!
Really nice job guys!!, The voice is absolutely immersive in the Genesis mood. And all the musicians are just perfect performing the sounds and the essence of Genesis. Thanks for that :)
Il tastierista me fa' ammazzà.
I have seen these guys a couple of months ago playing the albums Foxtrot and Selling England, and believe me, this was a never expected experience and soul touching pleasure. These musicians are so great and the sound and voice is coming so close to the original. Ok I did not witness the early 70ths but have seen some Steve Hackett Shows. Just want to say that this Band is unbelievable good and an inspiration to all prog rock and Genesis friends.
Saw you live on Friday in Bremen... So amazing. If you'd played this though, I would've full on burst into tears. My absolute favorite song, played so perfectly... I guess this only means I will continue to go to your concerts until you play it!
Siete oltre, complimenti davvero
I was skeptical, but you convinced me. one of the best versions of one of my favorite "hidden jewels" songs of all time. that voice... gabriel and you.
Having the brother of one of the guys who made this song perform on it when he's intrinsic to his brother's solo outfit and not the band that made this one is a wild dynamic. It works and John is a flute par excellence so there's no criticism whatsoever, I just can't help but admire this particular dynamic. It'd be kinda like if they made a Batman: Dark Knight sequel with Joker but with Mark Hamill as the live-action Joker based on his voice work with Heath Ledger not available. I love me a good, examine-heavy dynamic.
They are stunning. Just amazing. The singer is perfect and he is his own singer plus the whole band are incredible. Everything is perfect down to the mellotron and bass pedals plus John Hackett on flute. I will be watching and listening to all your videos. Most of the time with my jaw dropping to the floor in awe. Grazie molto.
Just watched it again. I love the camera work, focusing on each musician who's playing. It's frustrating when the video focuses on one musician when someone out of view is doing the main work! Cheers
The original song plus Steve Wilson's rendition on Steve Hackett's album, and now you guys awesomely performing one of my favorite Genesis songs makes quite the nice trio for me. Great video!
Impecable version of a magnificent piece. Saw them many years ago and they will be touring across europe next autumn. Already bought tickets for one of the uk dates
I only found your channel this morning - what a delight! Perfect renditions of some of my favourite Genesis pieces. Great playing and singing . As a side note, I've never thought Rutherford got enough kudos as a bass player. His lines in Salmalcis, this one, Firth Of Fifth etc etc are wonderful but I never see him name-checked alongside Squire, Entwistle etc.
While I quite like this song on Foxtrot, their recorded performance there somehow always seemed a bit....somehow flat and easy to gloss over. You guys really made it jump out to me!

He even has the English accent down! lol

Italians love Genesis music. Excellent.
Italians love Genesis since 1972.
That's one of the best Gabriel interpreters I've heard. Why haven't I heard of him before?
I know them since 2006. They already played Can Utility and also Hogweed at the time. Now they concentrate more on the genesis cover side than their own production but they still have several albums that are really worth...
Because of covid
Great performance!! Super voice , as well as all insruments

Greet band.
The music of Genesis are to close to perfection in this era. Genius pure genius.

I was a bit younger than you though
I was in Sheffield then aw well ,my dad played for Sheffield Wednesday
Magnificent - a song that has been sadly neglected for decades (until Steve H blew the dust off it). Really very well executed by all of you!
Great vocals! There is a reason that Genesis could not easily find a replacement singer for Gabriel after auditioning something around a hundred singers: it's just bloody hell to pull it off and luckily Phil did it and turned into one of the best vocalists out there. He is certainly better than that nad who sings with Steve hackett
Gave me chills. If you were just listening to it, you'd swear it was Genesis. The Watch shows the respect they have for Genesis and prog rock.
This is absolute magic. Can't stop listening!
me too......

One of best mellotron solos. Amazing example of baroque rock
I listen to talk radio all the time. This song has so much great bumper music on it. Just an awesome song!
Just brilliant. The attention to detail is incredible. You are just amazing. We miss you so much and look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible ❤️❤️❤️❤️
No words. This is incredible. So are the original albums the Watch have out.
Extraordinary, the best interpretation of Genesis, I had the privilege of seeing them live in Madrid and they are wonderful. Thanks a lot.
Oh, it is John Hackett! What a pleasant surprise!
I first met John Hackett through his mother - the mother of John Hackett and steve hackett.
And, I believe creating a flute easier for flute players to play is beTTer than creating another piano key board of which incorporates a C flat note - as opposed to keeping it the way it is i.e. there is no such thing as a C flat note - it is called a "B".
Um, is that a 12 string Alverez acoustic guitar the guitarist is playing?
Wow, takes me to that special Genesis place of old. Vocals are totally Gabriel 1972 ❤ ❤
They are playing only such a tiny tiny slower which makes it even more brilliant! I am deeply impressed as a longtime Genesis fan with „Firth of Fifth“ as my alltime favourite!
bring back the genesis soul❤️
You guys do the closest thing to be heart apart of Genesis themselves! Bravo, Ragazzi!!
Nothing short of phenomenal!! Major enjoyment!!! Nailed it. 👍👍👍
Agree.
absolutely
Jeezuz Christ. I'm nearly crying. Beautiful!
Awesome job guys. When I close my eyes it's like Genesis is playing it.
It's all shivers for me as soon as that mellotron and the bass pedals kick in at 2:07

This is superb make an album lads I’d buy it in a heart beat really love this.
They have released 7 studio albums and two live ones (+ one boot from 2006).
