No actor could have topped Dale Midkiff falling down and screaming over Gage. I'm not sure they could have found an actor to touch that performance. That shit turned my blood cold.
CatrinaDollsAndSugarSkulls yes!! That movie really got the emotion and the horror of loss right! Even as I kid that hit me hard . Then when he saw racheal when she came back and he literally looked like he couldn’t see anything wrong with her , like half her damn head wasn’t bleeding. His performance was pretty damn good when it came to that big stuff
CatrinaDollsAndSugarSkulls right? I think that scene gets harder to watch as I have gotten older because I have had nieces gages age and I think about them that little when I watch it and when he screams, “ noooooooo! OMG! The thing that really upset me was how they portray Judds relationship with the family. Especially in the book, he's like a father to Lewis. They are extremely close. In this movie it just seems like they see him as a bother more than family. They also leave out Judds wife again and she was pretty important in the book.
Great review Cody, brilliantly reviewed & perfectly summed up, a decent remake but still prefer the original. Jason Clarke is in my opinion the weakest link he's a very bland monotone actor who lacks charisma & while John Lithgow was good as Jude he ain't on par with the late great Fred Gwynne emotional performance.
Just saw it. John Lithgow was great and they didn’t try that Maine accent which was a plus. Some similarities some differences but unfortunately it fell short for me.
@Undead zombie Ummm, yeah it does dude. "It fell short for me" doesn't mean that the movie was short in length, it means that it was a disappointment for him and that he expected much better than this crap, cuz it wasn't good enough.
@Undead zombie Ok, I understand, I respect your opinion, even though you don't seem to respect any opinion that isn't yours, based on what you said and replied to some comments here.
@Undead zombie Pointing out the problems with this movie and expressing our preferences doesn't mean we're bitching about it. Stop being so damn sensitive.
@Undead zombie "Talking shit" Like you've been doing in this comment section? Like calling people retarded for not liking a movie? May I remind you that films are subjective.
Spoilers Pascow's actions in the first film was largely an invention for that version. Loius thinks a lot about the guys death and he dwells on the dream but the helpful part of Pascow really wasn't in the novel. Actually, the novel's ending was not so much rushed but it was a smaller part of the story than I remembered it when I listened to the audiobook recently. I have my tickets to tomorrow so hopefully I like it. As for other King remakes, how about a better version of the Gunslinger Series that actually focussed on the stories of the individual novels and I hope the Stand works out.
Spoiler comment I went in with an open mind but felt this film just didnt convey that true sense of loss and longing like the original. First off, the child swap fatality hindered the story as the loss of Gage is way more tragic (as wrong as that sounds). Second, Pascow was criminally underused in this one and he's such a crucial component to really trying to save the Creeds from harm, but instead he's just kind of resigned to a creepy ghost. Third, Zelda. This film shit the bed with that. I was waiting for ANY creepy Zelda scene, but nope. I am a huge fan of the original so I'm biased that it is one of my favorite horror movies ever, and Lambert had lightning in a bottle with her film. I don't expect a rip off of the original, but this version was just flat in comparison and didn't ping the emotional register for me at all. A silver bullet or sometimes they come back remake for the next would be my pick.
I completely agree with you on all those points I think it's because they really didn't seem that close in this and that view and the shoe thing is heartbreaking a pair of legs in the grass not so much.
I was considering seeing the movie today, but I’ll probably wait based on the reviews from you and Lee. I would love to see a remake of Silver Bullet. There hasn’t been a good werewolf movie since The Wolfman...at least none that I am aware of.
I enjoyed it. The third acts twist really wasn't that big to me. I just didn't get into it as much as I wanted to. John Lightgow was good. Solid performance. Like you said he was no Fred Gwyne. I thought it was a descent enough remake. Still buy the blu-ray when it comes out. That's the collector's side of me. Lol
I agree with you; I kind of feel like because I only original, I have to have this one too. I liked it, and thought there were some things that this one did better than the original like church was scarier in this one, and other than the pacing being rushed near the end and some of the emotional components missing, I felt all and all it was a good remake. I didn’t mind the twist; in fact, I thought that was pretty creepy! The Repster - Movie Reviewer
Fuck, man. Between you and Lee I've realised I really need to analyse both again. All of a sudden your points make perfect sense. I may have jumped the gun when I hinted that this remake was stronger.
I do want to see this film, I'm not dead set against it like I am with child's play. But I don't understand I'll people can say it's closer to the novel than the original with that huge change. But thing about these remixes when it comes to the Stephen King's you have to remember that it's a book as well you're not remaking the original film your trying to readapt the book. I honestly have very low expectations for this movie and have to wait you say about the acting they just got lower. I like John lithgow but I don't know if I put him in the greatest of all time category. A great review my brother as always, you kill it.
Hey Cody!!!! TOLD U I WOULD COME BACK AND TELL YOU MY REVIEW ON THIS HUN, PLEASE REPLY BACK TO ME SOOO SORRY IF THIS IS TOO LONG, Just Got Home A Little Bit A Go I JUST SAW THIS TODAY. I Really liked it. THE ENDING GOT ME GOOD! DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! Sooo Different than The First Movie. I agree with your points on Jud And Louis. I did not think they were as good as the one's in the first film. I agree with how Louis was not as Sad and grief strickend and also I think Zelda was not shown as scary or anything like the first one like you said some jump scares with her. Could have done better with her. They really did some Bold New Directions like you said. And I Really Liked them A Lot. Also This film is WAYYY different and I did not know what was going to happen!!!! I was IMPRESSED!!
I 100% agree with you about Zelda. She was terrifying in the original. I thought she was still creepy in the remake but she didn't leave me hiding behind my hands like the original.
Great review Cody.I think someone should do a movie version of King's "Duma Key".I love the original "Pet Sematary" for all the reasons you and Lee love it;so I'm interested to see if I will like this remake(like you someone spoiled the twist for me darn it;which is why I have reservations).
Completely agree with it all but especially that the first and 3rd act are the most important thing to making a movie. The 1st act grips us and the 3rd act leaves us talking. The 2nd act you shouldn't mess up but can and you will still have an affective movie as long as you don't mess up the 1st and 3rd acts. Which they did here. They done goofed.
Watched it tonight!!...I didn’t mind it at all, a lot closer to the book then the 1989 film actually. Now I know a couple will have a problem with my opinion, but hey...too bad haha. It was a 8/10 movie for me, they done well with it! And applause to the little actress that played Ellie, she’s a little bad ass 👏🏼👏🏼.
Hey Cody, Yeah I saw the trailer , The SPOILER, I am going to go see this tomorrow early Afternoon. I thought like you already said "THE BIG TWIST", was absolutely a different way to go with the movie, I also agree even tho I have not seen it yet, that you really can not make that little boy's death scene in the first movie any better, You really can not compare anything TO THAT That was HORRIFIC And something no one will ever forget after watching it. So I agree with you on saying it is cool to change the scenario a little, but make us feel the same as we did back then, and you say it does not deliver that to the audience. THAT SUCKS. Oh well....
I just read the book and watched the remake. As a huge fan of the lore and canon of Pet Sematary, I implore you to open the book. It's a beautiful piece on grief and absolutely chilling to the bone.
I haven’t watched the remake and had never watched the original until tonight. I watched it tonight because of you Cody. I think the original is a good movie but typical of pre Misery adaptations of King’s work. The novel of Pet Sematary is FAR superior to the movie. That’s always an issue if you read the source material. Up until Misery I always felt that King’s work was represented disappointingly in the movie adaptations. I LOVE Carpenter but Christine comes across as silly to me. Carrie was good for me. I think The Shining is fantastic but Kubrick was a master that just used King’s novel as an outline and made the movie his own vision. I like the original Pet Sematary movie but I think that it’s a bit flat filming wise m, almost like a TV movie. The performances are pretty good but it lacks atmosphere for me. This isn’t to criticise how people like yourself and other fans view the movie. I’m just looking at it from a different point of view. I’m a reader of the novel. So I’m viewing it and comparing it to the novel which is different to how you view it. Misery wasn’t as good as the novel to me but it was a GREAT movie adaptation in my opinion. They got the tone right and it was one of his better novels to adapt. It was a horror in a psychological and realistic sense. Christine for example reads well as a novel but comes across as silly on the screen for me personally without an explanation for why a car murders people. For me it would have worked better as a comedy satire. Not a Carpenter classic for me personally. The Shawshank Redemption was amazing because it was a movie based on a short story and there were so many gaps to fill. I think the new IT is better than the original. King’s movie adaptations from Misery onwards have been far more consistent. Loving your channel from the UK. Keep up the good work 👊🏻
I feel like the original Pet Sematary is really good to experience alone. With other people it kinda takes your mind out of the movie and doesn't allow that true terror to reach you.
17:23 I don't get why studios think jumpscares actually scare people. They don't. People's reaction to them is quick shock because they don't expect them not fear. In films it gets more and more obvious when a jumpscare's coming anyway usually when there's an entire scene that's completely silent with no music.
the religious views happened in the old one and was much more emotional. The missed the mark for me, it went way to mainstream a fell far off the source material. The scenes seemed rushed and forced dialog, conversations happened for no reason for the sake of just trying to explain things as if the movie was trying to explain things for blind people. the original is still the best as far as material and acting. Like you said the original hit the mark on the emotional level , everytime I hear the father yell when gage dies sends chills through me everytime.
I thought it was meh, just average. The original wins plus it has The Ramones, cant mess with them. Pet Sematary 2 was way better also. With Gage you took the movie up to 11 while this one took it down to 5. Evil little girls...how original.
Huge Pet Sematary fan here... I loved it, but I was surprised to see how many scenes from the trailers were cut from the film itself. I also would have liked for some of the scenes to be stretched out a bit. The ending was pretty badass though. Agree that Zelda and Pascow were underwhelming. I absolutely LOVED Ellie, though. That girl was made for this role.
Definitely need a silver bullet remake. Probably my favorite stephen king adaptation along with pet semetary and it. Gonna wait till i can stream the new pet semetary though because i really didnt like how its portrayed in the teasers. 9/10 times if the trailers suck to me so will the movie
I know people don't like this film, but as the first horror film I watched it holds a special place in my heart and I will continue watching and enjoying it.
I’ve been looking forward to your review. Have you heard the Dead Meat Podcast about Indian Burial grounds? It’s stuck with me so much, it’s hard to think of anything else when a movie uses this idea. And it’s really worth the listen if you or anyone hasn’t heard it.
See this is what I agree with. I watched Chris Stuckermans review and then yours. Very different. There are a ton of pacing issues. The ending was not scary. There were some creative choices that are great in theory but the end moved super fast. I will say the best parts are Church the cat himself and the "big" tragedy scene. Oh and I was 1 of 2 in the theater. When everything stopped I left last that was creepy. The theater was creepier then the movie... nothing in the movie is fleshed out in a good way. It's not even cerebral if you're not gonna flesh out the characters. I believe the production value was great. Umm... but this remake is like a watered down version of the book and the first adaptation. It doesn't even meet expectations from the book. It's not good.
Pet Sematary I thought it was a really good remake and I didn't see the original Pet Sematary until a couple of years ago it didn't have the same reaction that people would have good back in 1989 but I did think it was a good movie.
Just got out of this about a hour ago. Definitely appreciate how different it trys to be from the original. However, even after watching it, just makes me want to go back to the original immediately. And I just watched it before going to see the remake.
@@CodyLeachYT not to say the remake was bad. It had some good stuff to it. I liked the actors and the setting. There were some things that i was most intrigued with, like the information on the pet sematary and the wendingo. But, we didn't get enough of it really. Thought that was a missed opportunity. Zelda and Patscow were completely mishandled. Almost feeling generic. The atmosphere was there but it didn't have nowhere near as much creepy or unnerving as the original was. Like just some typical modern day horror movie. The original was so good at being it's own thing it didn't feel like anything we've seen before. That ending...where I didn't hate it, it was definitely the most disappointing part about this movie. It's just so sudden and just goes so quick that I took a second after the movie just to think,".....okay?" Overall, it was good, but rather disappointing for what it could have been
The movie sucked :( the pacing was off, scenes didn’t flow smoothly. Almost every scene was cut too quickly, which left little cliffhangers. Don’t watch!
@@CelticFrost1979 just curious. How old are you. And yes we did. This doesn't even compare to the original, acting included. The girl once she died, horrible! Lol. Are u kidding me?? Everything about the new one is off. Check the overall reviews of this new one. I haven't seen them and very u money they're not any good....smh
@@stonegasman3866 zero emotion from mitkiff?? And your comparing the emotion in this new one.? Not even close. When the girl dies they show him grab his head and hold her for a sec. Compare that to the original. When he digs up gage in the original and holds him!! Go back and watch the original please and tell me that again about emotion. The emotions are what made the original and in turn this new one that only had some tears here and there, worse acting, no flow, low budget feel...etc...very frustrating to watch. And I could care less if u love the new one. The point of this is to have an educated discussion about the movie. I never told u or anyone not to like it so the fact u got offended is ridiculous. Sorry I hurt your feelings, and make sure to buy that DVD. Maybe even a poster for your wall
The house made the wife think about Zelda more often. I think she mentioned that. But yeah its weird that she told her husband the full story just now.
You almost lost me at this remake had better actors but then you explained what you meant. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I felt no connection to the people in this movie. I didn't care what happened to them. I was intrigued by what they changed and how that would effect the other aspects of the story. I was so pissed when I walked out. The changes made didn't have the same effectiveness to get under your skin. It's disheartening that they are teasing a prequel. If a better job was done with this movie I would be so excited for a prequel. If they go forward with it, that will be a hard pass from me. Another issue is so much was shown in the trailers and then wasn't in the movie. At least the one I saw lol
Besides Elle they were better looking and more charming in the first. This Louis didn't seem close enough to either kids to resurrect her and I like pascow better in the first it was more real (if you wanna know how I know ask)
I feel the same way. I thought her and jason Clarke were 2 of the weakest aspects. Her performance was no where near as hair raising as baby demon Gage of the original imo.
@@superkamiguru4615 I thought they both did great. Stand out performances. The little girl pulled off the evil look when she returned. She pulled off the sweet innocent type in the beginning. What else can u ask from from a little girl.
HEY CODY I will be back Tomorrow after I see this movie and then I will give my input. I listened carefully to your's, let you know tomorrow what I think. Thanks again for this Review. I Always love watching them. "JENN"

@@stonegasman3866 You'll understand my issue with it once you read the book. The true horror of the book is the grief and soul shattering thoughts that pass through one's mind when a tragedy of that magnitude occurs. Also the characters were very bland, and they completely missed the mark on the entire point of Jud, and Louis's relationship. They made changes to the source material which is totally fine with me, but the changes they made made the story much weaker in comparison to the original film/novel. The acting might have been bad in the first movie but the themes were much more powerful in comparison to this new adaptation. In my humble opinion of course. ;)
@@stonegasman3866 Your completely wrong, the whole reason of adaptation is to bring on screen. If you actually believe the filmmaker doesn't owe the source material anything the he or she should do their own film instead then, your logic is completely flawed and partly why adaptation's fail alot times. Whether you like or not source material and adaptation will always be compared. For years creators have even taken elements from the adaptations add to their ongoing source material. My point source material and adaptations are closely related you can't completely separate them. For example Batman grappler hook was featured first in Batman 1989 and was added in the comics later. If creators thought like you there would be no improvement.
I so looked forward to this movie and was disappointed. Everything felt rushed and there was no buildup, tension or an emotional attachment to the characters. The cat just looked like someone dumped a sticky substance on him and that he needed to be taken to a groomer.
Really good review, Cody. I do have to respectfully disagree. I wouldn't call this film a remake, but rather a new adaptation of the source material. I feel that the 1989 adaptation is very dated, doesn't give me that sense of dread, and the acting is incredibly cheesy. Mind you, I grew up watching the movie as a kid as well, and it scared me then, but does nothing for me now. With this film, although flawed, has a much better tone throughout. The acting is also hugely improved as well as the pacing. There seems to be a lot of folks looking at the 1989 adaption with rose colored glasses.
I understand the concept of making bold and different changes But, you are right the change they made and then told us before we see the film was not as impactful as it could have been. You mentioned everything was rushed. While I agree in some scenes, other scenes were dragged out so long without any pay off in my opinion. And what was with "the sound from the second floor " the entire movie? That became annoying for me.
YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS NOW I WILL WATCH IT THANKKKK YOUUUU CODY! I am going to go see this tomorrow I can't wait. I hope your review is good. I am starting it now
That's what I was saying after the ending of the movie 'What the hell?' I get your points about that character that get left out in this move and while I can understand why the filmmakers decided to make that change, it kind an insult to what that character represents in the original movie and in the novel. I believe that 3rd act was rushed because it does take awhile for the movie to get there (pacing issues was one of my negatives) so, we have that rush 3rd act. I love to see them remake Christine as well!
I was actually very averse to horror movies as a child when the original Pet Sematary was around, so I never became such a lifelong fan of it that I had trouble judging the remake on its own merits without comparing it. All I can say is, I thought John Lithgow did a very good job as Judd the neighbor, the little girl playing Ellie was a delight to watch onscreen, and there were two moments of surprise (thanks to my never having seen the trailer, I admit, most likely, as I heard it spoils a lot) that gave me a good, sudden fright, because I was expecting it to take the same turn as the original. So that was a pleasant surprise. And I liked the dark ending. Overall, good job on the remake, I personally think. 10:27 - Speaking of which, Cody, when you mentioned Fred Gwynne here I suddenly thought of the impression that Brad Jones (the Cinema Snob) did of Judd a few times during his review of the original Pet Sematary. It was pretty funny. You should check it out. XD
If you loved original, YOU MUST READ THE BOOK! King wrote the script so it's easily one of the best King adaptations. Fred Gwynne WAS Judd from the book. (But you'll be bummed to know Pascow doesn't have such a Jack Goodman 'An American Werewolf in London' roll in the book) I do have to disagree with you on the production value when it came to the 'Pet Sematary'. It just didn't seem as detailed as the original to me. But you really hit it for me. While I understood the idea behind changing the characters fate (the problems with filming during the original and such) so I REALLY gave it a chance but it sooo fell short for me. I thought it was a good horror movie but an awful King adaptation.
ZELDA ZELDA ZELDA GOD!!!!!!!!!!! SHE SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME IN THE FIRST MOVIE .... OH WOW!!!! THAT IS ANOTHER THING YOU COULD NEVER FORGET LOL JEEZ HOLY SHIT SHE WAS SCARY
I agree with you completely especially with Jason Clarke, he was so wooden he could have been mistaken for a wooden plank. Not bad by any means just disappointing
They cast Louis and Rachel too old imo. While reading the novel, I imagined the Creeds as a young couple in their early to mid 30's who, on the surface, never really faced hard times in their lives prior to moving near the Pet Sematary. Jason Clarke is 50 years old.
I thought it was fantastic and I am so glad I didn't see the trailer as it gave away the big twist. Great movie anyhow, and the ending gave me shivers. This is how a remake and a horror movie is done. You can tell it was made with love for the genre and the original movie.
Yeah it was made with love that's obvious but so politically correct the other pascow fit better this Elle was far less irritating her next movie was (believe it or not )was a nightmare on Elm Street 3 she had exactly 10 line's
I pretty much agree with everything you said. It was just a meh, forgettable film. It left me feeling cold while the move and original film left me heart broken. The big change didn’t work for me. I just didn’t feel like they did enough to justify the change. The ONLY thing I liked better in this is that Rachel has more to do in the final act (plus Seimetz really blew me away with her performance...the other actors felt bland).
It's interesting that you say that Zelda was built up too much, because I read an interview where the directors said that the script didn't have her at all and they made the choice to put her back in. And Pascow wasn't in the book as much as he was in the original movie. He basically has his death scene, the dream scene, and a brief bit where Ellie mentions dreaming about him.
Pascow was more real in the original to spite the book and I just can't picture him without the short shorts(but I do know what I'm doing for Halloween)
It's a good movie. I had the same reaction at the end feeling like well that was it? But overall, despite its flaws and whatnot, I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought they handled the cinematography really well the mood and atmosphere was really nice and I like the avenues they chose to explore that were somewhat different than the original. I walked out of the theater thinking "okay that was good" I had a good time. One major dislike I had which (I won't spoil anything) is the major change from the original (although I understand why they would do that) it was very cliche and I kind of was like "oh I've seen this in a lot of horror movies" so yeah. Not a bad movie though I enjoyed it.
I've been noticing that people who love the original and think it is a classic horror masterpiece are tending to not like this movie very much. On the opposite end, people who don't have strong feelings towards the original seem to be enjoying it for the most part (this is the camp I'm in). I agree with a few of your negatives though, particularly regarding Zelda. It seemed like her primary purpose was to act as a vehicle for half of the movie's jump scares, and they could have done more with her.
You just have to not hate it because you enjoy the original compare it as a remake and not as a replacement it doesn't have the same impact excuse the pun) child's play did it right.
The only negative thing I have to say about your review is that you accidentally used "pliable" (rather than "palpable") to describe the tension and atmosphere in some of the basement scenes... Everything else in this review was 100% on point... This film, however? The exact opposite. They got so many things wrong, and turning Zelda into a jump-scare machine is absolutely unforgivable.
No actor could have topped Dale Midkiff falling down and screaming over Gage. I'm not sure they could have found an actor to touch that performance. That shit turned my blood cold.

In the newspaper article. At least he got a mention. :(
I heard that they may be considering covering the Baterman story as a type of prequel, with its own movie, rather than giving this one a sequel

Zelda’s still the scariest thing about Pet Semetary.
I always love your reviews. I didn't want a remake of this movie but I will check it out for free at the library.
Spoiler comment
I went in with an open mind but felt this film just didnt convey that true sense of loss and longing like the original.
Awesome review dude! You are one of my absolute favorites! My thoughts are pretty similar.
I was considering seeing the movie today, but I’ll probably wait based on the reviews from you and Lee.
I would love to see a remake of Silver Bullet. There hasn’t been a good werewolf movie since The Wolfman...at least none that I am aware of.
Dale Midkiff is the kind of actor who needed Stanley Kubrick to make him do 99 takes to craft a great performance
Omg, all your thoughts on the actors and the emotion in the original are so spot on!! It’s exactly how I felt about it also
Yeah such a void in the remake
I only felt something for the mother after the daughter's resurrection. The mother's reaction to that situation was realistic. Thats it 😔
Your eye twitched while saying this is "good" near the end of the review, lol. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm concerned. XD
I want to say...I really look forward to your horror movie reviews, Cody. You deserve more subscribers, with your quality content. Keep it up, man!
Thank you
I would have saw it tonight, but I'm going to wait. They need to remake silverbullet..
#loveyourTShirt
Cody Starry Eyes is so good! It did not sound like a movie for me, i was blown away. Cant wait for your review.
I have NEVER looked so forward to a film review as much as this review
Awesome. Hopefully I delivered
You said everything That was in my head, but I couldn’t verbalize when I walked out of the theater! And YES, to Christine!!!
It was pretty balsy. That's for sure. Buy didn't disappoint.
Fuck, man. Between you and Lee I've realised I really need to analyse both again. All of a sudden your points make perfect sense.
I may have jumped the gun when I hinted that this remake was stronger.
Bro, hit the nail on the head on everything I felt about this movie! Thank you!
Wait for it on redbox or Netflix... sad to say but trust me
I still haven’t seen this remake, but I’m really excited. Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Two possible remakes of Stephen King movies: Sometimes They Come Back and Sleepwalkers.
I 100% agree with you about Zelda. She was terrifying in the original. I thought she was still creepy in the remake but she didn't leave me hiding behind my hands like the original.
My thoughts exactly! Couldn’t have said it any better
When Gage says too his dad at the end of the original “No fair daddy” no fair”. I cringed.
I've just purchased, this movie, the original 1990 it and dragged across concrete all thanks to your reviews! Keep it coming man
Great review Cody.I think someone should do a movie version of King's "Duma Key".I love the original "Pet Sematary" for all the reasons you and Lee love it;so I'm interested to see if I will like this remake(like you someone spoiled the twist for me darn it;which is why I have reservations).
Your review was spot on perfection. There is no more accurate review possible.
I agree with everything you said. The ending I was like "wtf..."
I also thought it was great. Loved the changes. Great pacing.
You're welcome to your opinion, and that's totally cool. The fact though is that the original is closer to the novel.
THAT SUCKS. Oh well....
Did anyone notice during the Halloween scene that it looked like Maine in the middle of summer instead Maine in the middle of autumn 🤔 😂
I just read the book and watched the remake. As a huge fan of the lore and canon of Pet Sematary, I implore you to open the book. It's a beautiful piece on grief and absolutely chilling to the bone.
The original pet sematary is my #2 all time favorite movie ever
What’s your number one?
@@colewarnerreviews5834 Texas chainsaw massacre… first horror movie o watched when I was 2yrs old hiding behind the couch watching it lol …

@@bearr1942 they did a sci-fi channel remake I think
They weren't evil enough in the movie
Exuse me I ment they weren't evil in the book just kinda stupid
Keep up the good work 👊🏻
Misery & pet Cemetery are much better then Shaw shank.
I feel like the original Pet Sematary is really good to experience alone. With other people it kinda takes your mind out of the movie and doesn't allow that true terror to reach you.
Yeah, what you said! I agree 1000% . Great vid Brother!
She said she couldnt stop thinking about zelda since they arrived at the new house. Woods opening old wounds
good point!
17:23 I don't get why studios think jumpscares actually scare people. They don't. People's reaction to them is quick shock because they don't expect them not fear. In films it gets more and more obvious when a jumpscare's coming anyway usually when there's an entire scene that's completely silent with no music.
OMG THEY FILMED IT IN MY GRAND-PARENTS NEIGHBORS! ST-LAZARE QC!
My stepdads always told me one of his first nightmares was of Zelda lol
the religious views happened in the old one and was much more emotional.
I loved the film alot. Better than 1989s movie. More fleshed out characters, scarier. Closer to the source material
Disagree completely
@@CodyLeachYT fair!
@The Urban Slasher have you?
I thought it was meh, just average. The original wins plus it has The Ramones, cant mess with them. Pet Sematary 2 was way better also. With Gage you took the movie up to 11 while this one took it down to 5. Evil little girls...how original.
You should put a Spoiler Warning in your comment mate!
Oh shit, even though it was in the trailer....oh well fuck it.
Everybody already knows. It was in the trailer plus the directors outright confirmed it in interviews
Jw Nj It was not in the review! Not everybody saw the trailer after all the warnings that there are spoilers in it.
Yeah well, sorry.
They weren't cut they were taken from a different angle lol
I would love to see Christine 🚗 remade!
Just got out of this about a hour ago. Definitely appreciate how different it trys to be from the original. However, even after watching it, just makes me want to go back to the original immediately. And I just watched it before going to see the remake.
Yep it made me want to watch the original too
@@CodyLeachYT not to say the remake was bad.
I completely agree!!! Thank u
@@CelticFrost1979 just curious. How old are you. And yes we did. This doesn't even compare to the original, acting included. The girl once she died, horrible! Lol. Are u kidding me?? @@CelticFrost1979 I see your pretty young so I get why u wouldn't like the first. This new one still isn't any good by today's horror standards.
It wasn't even scary if I'm gonna be scared I'll watch the original
I want to see a remake of Christine. 100%
Nah. Like the original. No need for a remake.
Are you stupid? You want them to remake Christine? With what? A damn Prius? A fucking civic? Hell to the no.
They better keep the line about the best smell on earth after Christine
I thought it was ok , definitely didn't blow me away ....and I didn't care for the little girl that they chose to play the role.
The little girl in the old one was pretty annoying though!
@@jessicarivera8734 ughhhh,shewas!!!!!

Most of this film does follow the novel pretty closely till towards the last act.
What novel did you read? Lmao
The Eternal Induction huh? 😂
It takes take changes yes but no once did I say it was a direct adaptation I highly recommend learning the meaning of (MOST)
@@stonegasman3866 You'll understand my issue with it once you read the book.
"I know what your thinking of doing. But they don't come back the same" I love that line in the trailer. I'm hopping to see pet semetery very soon.
I so looked forward to this movie and was disappointed. Everything felt rushed and there was no buildup, tension or an emotional attachment to the characters. The cat just looked like someone dumped a sticky substance on him and that he needed to be taken to a groomer.
I want to see silver bullet remake because that movie means so much to me.
yes. so much yes.
The tone is actually what works best in the original
Doctor Feinstone and I can totally see that side of the argument as well. It just doesn’t work for me.
I am starting it now
I'd love to see a new Netflix-like miniseries for The Stand. I liked the original, but it's dated.
Not bad by any means just disappointing
marc gordon huge improvement from Dale though. His acting in the original was terrible.
They cast Louis and Rachel too old imo. While reading the novel, I imagined the Creeds as a young couple in their early to mid 30's who, on the surface, never really faced hard times in their lives prior to moving near the Pet Sematary. Jason Clarke is 50 years old.
If a remake is good. Bonus. But if it’s not and makes people get into the original then that’s brilliant. I’ve always said that.
Think I’ll wait for it to come out on video. Great review cody
the animal masks reminds me of "The Wicker Man" and "you're Next!"
I can’t wait for the shining sequel doctor sleep in November
Irish Man20 did you like it? I lOVED IT!!!!!
Who the fuck are writing these scripts these days?
Pascow was more real in the original to spite the book and I just can't picture him without the short shorts(but I do know what I'm doing for Halloween)
I couldnt agree more Cody! The final act feels extremely rushed! Ugh.
This was hands down the best review I’ve seen on this movie
Thank you!
It isn't cliche and they haven't done it in any horror movies that I'm aware of. What they did in this one though... the ring anyone?
I've been noticing that people who love the original and think it is a classic horror masterpiece are tending to not like this movie very much. On the opposite end, people who don't have strong feelings towards the original seem to be enjoying it for the most part (this is the camp I'm in). I agree with a few of your negatives though, particularly regarding Zelda. It seemed like her primary purpose was to act as a vehicle for half of the movie's jump scares, and they could have done more with her.
I hate that you were disappointed!! i'm still excited to see it!! Cant wait for Childs Play!
You just have to not hate it because you enjoy the original compare it as a remake and not as a replacement it doesn't have the same impact excuse the pun) child's play did it right.
“Yuck... kiss your own cat”
You really need to read the book! I think you'd love it!
