I had a '70s Yamaha YZ80 that had a pin in the piston ring groove to keep the ring from rotating. That pin came out and the ring rotated until the gap was in the exhaust port. That caused the cylinder to wear badly at one side of the exhaust port. In my case it was easy to see because the pin was embedded in the top of the piston. For your stuck hydraulic hose check out the Captain Kleeman video named "Blown Hoses and Rotted Cab - Gaining Ground on the Backhoe Rebuild" around the 50 second mark. He uses a hammer drill to vibrate and loosen the fitting. Love your videos!

The Tak as we use to call them 15-20yrs ago is a badass skid steer. The TL series with the rubber tracks are a beast in sandy soil and out perform most CATs and Bobcats due to the weight differences and power displacement. I use to own 2 and grew up on the beach and did a many of beach sand pushes around ocean front houses without the slightest struggle. $150 per hour 10hrs a day was our rate back then to move sand away from homes and it was a money maker. Machines paid for themselves in a month:

Regarding skid steer If you can get to it with a punch in an SDS drill with rotary stop or an air hammer you could try hammering on the flats of the nuts of the hose, that might loosen them enough for a spanner to undo them. Its a trick I learned from Clint of C&C Equipment who is another or my favourite UA-camrs.

Bike ran great and then it just died and no compression. Mine took a small chunk of the top of the piston off on the exhaust size. The power valve needs to be relieved a little bit to work with the larger piston.

Ok, to get skid steer line off, try 1 - heat JIC collar with heat and use large adjustable wrenches Try 2, cut hose off close to collar with cutting wheel and use deep socket to remove jic fitting. good luck!

at 28:26 there is a ?broken? brass nipple in the carb. Look into what detonation is. Thats what it does to the metal on the top of cylinders/heads/pistons. Like the top if your cylinder. It is very common on 2 strokes. Also, doesnt it look like the power valve hit? Then cracked the cylinder?

Joe make sure all the pressure is released to the hydraulic lines move all the controls around to release, air hammer will be your best friend removing those lines to bust them loose then get u a wrench on them... Get you a bobcat can't go wrong with one....

The split in the piston was around on the exhaust side. Isn’t the locator pin on the intake side? So either the locator pic came out, allowing the ring to spin around or the ring was installed without and regard for the locator pin

I am not sure if that was actually you answering my comment Joe.People say that many comments about comments are other people messing around. But i really would like for you to do a new winch install one a 4 wheeler like my 1999 Yamaha Grizzly. The brand i chose is KFI.Also the mount for the front. The winch mounting is pretty straight forward. But the wiring and tucking it away is what i need to see.I saw many likes at my end for this how to DIY.One dealer near me wanted about 300+ dollars just to install the very kit i purchased. Thanks

One of these days you should get some supermoto rims and tires for one of these bikes and come ride supermoto with us on the motorplex at Road America. It's a lot of fun and we race 5 times year as well as one race in shawano.

My advice on the hydraulic line isn't conventional, but I hit the wrench with a hammer in extreme cases. It's a bit risky, but my experience has been that such extremes tend to require replacing more parts anyway.

One of the first things you should always check when buying a used dirt bike is the air filter and that is the reason why this bike has no compression, I've never liked 2 stroke engine designs that use a single piston ring, the thicker ring has a tendency to generate more frictional heat because of the larger surface contact area with the cylinder, also that cylinder shouldn't have a sleeve, it should have a Nikasil coated cylinder which does a much better job of handling the heat, using a Steele sleeve is a cheap alternative to having the cylinder recoated but they don't usually last, judging by the air filter you can bet the suspension internals are quite hammered also, to get this bike back to the level of performance it's capable of it's going to cost more than you paid for it, that air filter or the lack there of tells you for the most part everything you need to know about this bike, good luck with this project, these older 2 strokes are getting hard to find parts for which makes the parts quite expensive.
