Hi Brock. I trust that you are aware that you need to use a motor oil that is specifically made for a diesel engine. I could not see the word "diesel" on that Mobile 1 jug.

Good info Brock, I have a 2032r with only 350hrs. As a professional mechanic of 45 years I will give you my two cents. I would have used a diesel spec oil, they have a different additives package for diesel especially with the DPF filter. Also lower the 3 point than drain system. I would probably change the front differential also, that's pretty easy also. Just my opinion!

Pro tip: Pour about half the oil into the engine, then add the Lucas to the oil bottle. Shake it up a little, then it'll pour much easier into the engine.
I'm curious why you didn't use a diesel specific oil, like Rotella T4 or T5.
For the hydraulic oil, I use a hand pump that fits into the pour spout. Harbor Freight #95068, for example. Sooo much easier, and no risk of spillage.
And for cleaning the radiator, check out the Radiator Genie.

That was a nice video. It served as a reminder for me to get on with servicing mine! One thing you may want to check is the dipstick on your front axle. With mine(not JD), it's stamped on the dipstick, that the level should be checked, without screwing the cap in for a proper level reading.

The radiator genie is awesome for cleaning out the radiator. Even hard to reach!

Seeing this video now reminds me that i need to service my tractor and mower. Im all about using oem hydraulic filters for my kubota as i cannot find anything better made. But for the engine oil filter with all the soot, i look for a better option like the Wix XP and the Fram XG line of filters. Im using the Fram XG16 on my tractor and the Fram XG3614 on my mower. And for those that dont know, Fram has several different filter options and im not talking about using the orange filters. Im referring to the gold or dark blue filters. I was using Amsoil but considering that i change my engine oils at 50hrs ive been looking at oil analysis and base off of the additives and the shearing points im leaning towards Valvoline and SuperTech oils. Again this is all me doing 50hr engine oil changes. Might be overkill but replacing this equipment in today's economy isn't cheap. Bigger picture is keeping up on practicing maintenance will save everyone money and down time.

I changed the front axel oil early on my 1025r and let the oil sit in a clear container for a couple months. Like wow. Glad I changed it early. Doesn’t hurt to do it early.

FYI - The hydraulic there is another drain plug that is directly on the bottom of the pan. This one is not a pipe thread and has a washer so you do not have to mess with pipe thread and it drains from the bottom getting more of the oil. But the bigger thing is it does not spray oil all over the drawbar.

@@RockhillfarmYT M1 10w40 will be OK for a diesel engine but would not be my first choice. It can be used in late model light duty diesels. Stick with any 15w40 that is a name brand and you will be fine. Bob is the oil guy forums is the final word for oil stuff so have a read if you want to go down the rathole.

Are there any grease points on the tractor that you lub? I regularly grease the pivot points on my JD loader but wasn't sure about other points on or around frame and steering. I have a JD 3046r.

Not sure about yours….but my 2 series 2010 2520r has a metal mesh filter with magnets that is next to the sight glass in back . It is held in by 3 or 4 bolts and has an O-ring seal that should be cleaned/changed too. I found quite abit of metal filings my first couple of changes of hydraulic fluid.

Hey Brock i just got a used 2038r with 330 hours on it and recently did everything except the radiator fluid . I was wondering if i should do the front axle or not, but i ended up doing it and I'm thankful i did ! There is 3 plugs with built in magnets and they all had fine fine metal build up on them , which is completely normal especially the first change. I just wanted to ask if you ever did the front axle oil yet on yours ???
Also it uses the exact same oil as the hydraulic oil . Let me know !

My Uncle & did a servicing job on his JD 2038R & we put in 7 gallons of hydraulic fluid in. We unscrewed the drain plug on the very bottom/underneath of the rear drive axle there. We checked the hydraulic dipstic & fluid was fine. . . . .fired up the tractor, cycled all the hydraulic functions. . . . everything worked fine, shut it off & re-checked the dipstick, & everything seemed to be fine thus far! We still don't understand as to why they're calling for 12.4 gallons of hydraulic fluid.

800 hours vs. 6000+ hrs . Your tractor is in kindergarten and mine are on social security!
I would have liked to see the bleeding process on the fuel system. Changing filters and getting all the air out of the diesel fuel system on some of my tractors is a real headache.
