I sold my manufacturing company and retired 2 years ago. The problem with insisting on prepayment and having very long lead times is that you cannot go back to the customer and say "costs for labor and materials have skyrocketed so we need an additional 40% to complete the order". During covid I bought a 3 point chipper from my JD dealer. In the 6 months I was waiting for it the price went up 30%. The dealer sold it to me for the original quoted price. They lost money on it (showed me their invoice). But: in Texas,a deal is a deal. EA made a classic business mistake: demand skyrockets and they thought costs would stay flat. Basic supply and demand model proved them wrong.

Brock, they are located a few miles from were I live. Their facility is a massive size building. The Corriher family had been in the tractor business for years in downtown Newton, NC. I bought a tractor from them about 15 years ago. They do have legal problems and I hope they can resolve it.

These small businesses that have a rapid expansion and cannot fulfill orders in a reasonable time should stop taking orders until they catch up. But they are afraid to turn down an order because that customer might not come back when product is available again.

It is not matter how good a company is, there's no way any customer should be paying money. Waiting 6 months for a product I could get on a list and when you're coming up with my name. I'll send you the money but not pay up front.

Good message! I purchased a grapple and forks from EA several years ago, great products. About just over a year after I got the grapple it had a hydraulic hose issue, I simply asked for replacement part numbers to order, they sent the whole hose harness free of charge. I believe Ted is a good guy with good intentions, I feel he had some helpers with streaks of unprofessionalism that wasn’t beneficial to the organization. But who am I to say really, I am not in their shoes. I just want American companies supporting American families building products in the USA to be successful.

I am so glad I saw this video. I just called their 800# and spoke with Ted. Super nice guy. Said that he will be back on their feet within a few weeks.

The lawsuits disagree with your assumptions. The bank is wondering what happened to money that was promised to the building contractor. The building is complete except for minor punch out items. This and more is covered in the FB group What Happened to Everything Attachments.

There was a lot of rumors flying a few months back. Frivolous or lavish spending, whatever. I did read an article that they were in a legal battle against their contractor over their new or expanded facility. Of course, the contractor claimed they werent paid, EA claimed they did shoddy or incomplete work. No idea what actually happened or what the outcome was.

A number of years ago i bought a grapple. Paid up front, waited 4 months and it showed up. I still love it. Made great products, i hope they can reorganize.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for any sort of mea culpa from EA. A narcissist never apologizes, or feels the need to. They just use their charisma to find new people (customers) to feed off of and leave the others behind.

At this point I wouldn't give them a red cent until the impliment was sitting on my trailer and strapped down.

I would think this is the hard part of a small manufacturing business. You need to have actual emergency funds at all times to cover your customers orders no matter what. It has to include paying your employees to finish your contracts/ orders.

At a minimum EA is obligated to communicate with pending order clients. It's just the right thing to do.

Your honesty is refreshing partly because it is so rare these days! I have a set of pallet forks from EA that were on order for 3 or 4 months. Like you, I hope they succeed because they do make good products, but regaining trust that has been lost is very difficult. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You are dead on with your analysis and what they should do. There products are great as I own several of them. I hope they get through these tough times.
