• Project Whitey, the 19...
A 1957 GMC big widow Napco truck project that became a reason to have some fun.
"57 GMC Runs Again" is the engine donor for this truck. We've decided to video document the process of turning the engine-less "Mighty Whitey" into a road worthy marvel, updating things for comfort and safety, and all the while keeping a tight budget. The end result is supposed to be a reliable cruiser with substantial off-road capabilities, and something that we needn't worry about getting a scratch on. Keep checking back as we add episodes building both "Mighty Whitey" and showing other Redneck Restorations on "This Old Truck".
And people say there is no beauty left in the world. Such a good Look in pick-up just imagine how futuristic that looked in it's time
Seeing stuff like this makes me hate living in the rust belt.
I loved it when you washed the inside of the truck! I used to to the same exact thing when I worked on the farm. takes a few days for the seat to dry but its nice to see what's under all the dirt on the dashboard again! and now I know what it looks like when all the trash blows out the door so thanks for that too!
Half the truck would crumble away from rust if we pressure washed our projects like that around here. Old Whitey's a clean find, Jeff!
My father had a seafoam green 57 Chevy with 4 wheel drive. It was a monster. My sister drove it to high school in the early 60's. Her friends could not believe that she could drive it.
Mr. Bradshaw that 57 GMC 4x4 is my dream truck!!!!
Also mine
Now that is one hell of beautiful truck . They don't make them that awesome anymore. 💓 Love that truck
Love this TRUCK !!!
It looks like you took off some paint on old whitey as well. I friggen love that truck, you don't see them in my area they are all in the scrap heap.
I just love your truck. I love how you wash it, and take care of it. And also Its not a sissy garage queen. You actually use it. Nice to see vintage put to use the way it should. Thats the reason these things are built. For usage, not just to look at.Use it, fix it, wash it, modify it. But most of all, use it. Thats what gives it character.
That’s the best looking truck I’ve ever seen.
Love watching these US shows.. just better than most tv crap now..
If this was a Michigan truck, half of it would have dissolved washing it. This is a really nice truck.
Dad had one of these a long time ago..he spilled all kinds of beer in it ..never caused a problem ..only thing is he had to sell it later to pay off his DUIs..
That’s a nice old truck that truck is in good shape
it actually looked rather good after the power wash nice & clean is a good place to start on a restoration
Heck yeah this is what UA-cam is for
Boy I would love to have that truck
You can!
What kind of money if you're serious
@@joeltucker3024 Here's the story. First, it's not my truck. Second, the guys wife pulled the plug on the project when he reached 24K invested. It has set here waiting to be assembled for 9 years. IOf you watch the "Project Whitey" series playlist, it will show you everything that has bee done to date, with the exception of the engine rebuild. GMC used Pontiac based V-8's from 55-59. 55 was a 287. From there they went to 316, to 347 and to 336 for 58 and 59. The Pontiacs went to 370 in 58 and the 389 in 59. I located a 59 Pontiac 389 and that has been punched 40 over and cammed for low and mid-range torque. The 40 over make it a little over 399 CID.
All of the chrome has been redone. There are several spare parts that go with it. If you want to discuss price, email me at RNRTOT@frontier.com
I have the clear Title in hand
man i wish a powerwasher restored my 54 chevy like that and that fast
That's a beautiful truck. Nice face and lines.
i like this body style. I'd love to be able to drive something like this
FROM THE ANGLE AT 5:56 THAT TRUCK LOOKS SOOO AWESOME
sheesh this is a beauty, wish i could find one like this
A little power washing washes the years of neglect right away. I have done this to countless tractors.
What a great looking truck . dirty clean she looks great. $500 hell she looks about $1000 better maybe more. most have no vision . They would look at her dirty and say shes done. Little do they know 1/2 and look at her now. hardly no rot .straight to
Lol, I give my '56 GMC truck the same treatment about every three years, it's just what the doctor ordered, inside and out!!!!
I would never have thought to use a power washer to clean a vehicle, I use it for my teeth.
Wishing you the best Jeff!
Wow, she cleaned up nicely lol... I want a pickup like this!
he moves fast for an older fella
Man, that body style GMC were the most pissed off looking trucks of all time. My first vehicle was a 2WD '59...had to rebuild the engine before I got to drive it, lol.
Cool truck🍻
Can't believe I just sat and watched you wash your truck! I need to get back out into the shop. ;^)
Beautiful truck !
Man that body is in awesome shape, at least from the video.
awsome looking truck!
It looks exactly like a Ford and is beautiful
NICE TRUCK
I love that truck
yeah, when I first got my IH scout, it had been sitting outside for a few years. This was the first thing I did to it and I couldn't believe ho much of a difference it made!
ahhhhh i love the task force era of chevys
I need to get a hold of one of those high speed pressure washers.
Good job on the interior
I would love to have that truck!
nice truck
I love it! Just pressure wash all the trash out the other side!
he posted this video over three years ago so if he still has it I would be amazed
This is an awesome collection of videos, great job.

What a beauty.
Wow i just love this truck u cant find them like that over in Canada
this is a nice truck..i would love to have it
sure wish there were more videos, there awesome
You've seen all 409?
Next on the Agenda new 454 install
Exactly. Why not? I've seen a lot of old trucks that could use a good cleanin' inside and out. Elderlylron did NOT spray under the dash directly toward anything electrical. He cleaned out decades of dust, mildew and germs from the old fart can and actually made it a healthier cab to sit your butt in. Ease up and realize that this is an Excellent way to begin an old truck restoration. Leave the doors open and let it dry for as long as possible and/or dry it with an air hose
Those Jackman wheels are hard to find and worth some good money to the guys who restore old baja trucks. I dont think i would have soaked the interior but its a neat truck, take good care of it!
looks like a diffrent truck now!
She actually looks pretty solid. I could be wrong though...
I've owned a 57 Chevy 3100 for 48 years now. It was rough when I bought it in 1978. I've replaced everything except the frame. It has a big window cab. Lot's of stainless and chrome accessories now. I added Napco 4x4 like this truck has. It needs to be restored again since it's set outside it's whole life. That's just one of my retirement projects I have planned. Engine is a hot 350 with Duntov cam. I'll put a more stock 265 back in it. Trying to take it back to factory correct in the future. Of course the 265 will get some internal messaging. Nobody can see what's inside an engine. LOL
Make videos! Then again, it takes about 3 times longer when you video...
You should make a cd of your background music it's awesome 🎶
How delightfully crusty
Fear not. This old truck has been sorely abused. Creases already exist that are indistinguishable on video, hence the weakness you saw. Flat white hides a multitude of flaws, and there are flaws a-plenty on old Whitey
I would've proudly drove it around just like it was after the washing or not
American steel and back when a truck was a truck.
cool
Bought a 56 GMC stepside farmtruck. In 1975. Original flat black w/ Arkansas chrome grill/bumpers.aka silver spray can. 3 on the tree.about 385 gear. Low and TORQUEY! Ran tall sidewalls mud/snow type tires. Had it 2 days and thinking it ran like a stock car.BIG SURPRISE! under the hood ,, stock air cleaner, oil type, open pipes.i cleaned every thing and found a plate riveted to the block saying BROWNS.This was in TULSA.Turns out it wasn't(of.course).a stock 292 Big Six.with 3/4ton suspension and the boys at BROWNS bore and stroke ,heads done.torque CAM,the previous owner set it up that way on purpose. SLEEPER ANYONE?😎🗽🏁 kept it til I was in the NAVY and got arrested for jaywalking on new years Eve in San Diego. Called dad for bail and it got me out quickly.I asked him later how he got $300.that fast."Sold your truck". Fair enough I felt.that old truck got me in and out of lots of trouble. Ended up keeping a black mark off my record.Young and dumb. Within a week I had a hotrod TRIUMPH 500 TWIN anyway!😎🎶🗽
If only. If only....
A power washer is great for cleaning your drunk buddy's puke of the dash board and outta the 8-track player..
But will that Gordan Lightfoot cartridge sound the same?
My word... I'm still on the floor rolling over laughing me backside off!!!!!... LMFAO!!!!!
You are having to much fun Jeff. Lol
I love it
what a beautiful truck I would take it just the way it is dirty and old
love ya shows man great stuff
Hope yer feeling better Jeff! JJ
Got your note in the mail, John. Thank you so much. We're going to be slammed. Now we're surrounded by wildfires!
@@ElderlyIron Jeff, be careful and take care. You all will be in my thoughts and Prayers ! JJ

LOL This guy vacum like a boss. LMAO
Over in England we don’t call that a restoration we call that clean your truck lol😂
You the man!
@ElderlyIron so clean its clear!
right pretty ol truck
Jeff, just watched this video now being I am not a terrible fan of the tri-year Chevy trucks or cars and remembered an experience I had with my 1500psi electric pressure washer for my dairy barn before I sold cows. I made the mistake of getting in hurry and not grabbing gloves that morning, was washing to close to flourecent light(with power off of course), I nicked it and it shattered. I jerked the wand in front of my hand and it tore a 1/4 " deep gash--10 stitches across my palm. Washers are damn dangerous. They cut like a knife. Viewers--- GET PROPER GEAR(gloves, goggles, tall rubber boots) Jim.
Bet he even power washes the wife to "git rid oh critters" before he gets busy
@JOSE1750 A telling testament to you ability to recognize humor, or read the description for that matter.
Fancy
A 57 never had carpet.
Floors rust due to continual exposure to corrosive elements.
You can't short the electrical system. You can however corrode it, creating poor contact or an open circuit. A short is when your power lead goes directly to ground instead of the load, hence, "short" circuit.
You can't start an electrical fire in a 12V system by using water. If you could, every battery would catch fire if it got wet.
Mold grows in perpetually damp areas.
Great idea...
I’ve been looking for any 60s or 70s Chevy good luck
Washing the inside like the on old vehicles like this does no damage at all!!!
My dad used to joke that it's not a real truck unless you can hose out the cab.
Agreed!
Awesome... I'll have to remember that the next time my husband asks if I'll wash his truck...LOL
Speaking of my husbands truck, want to trade??? He's got a 02' Ranger 4X4... LOL
Loved the vid....
.
Merrie-Merrie

Thats a sweet ol ride Jeff -My old 79 on my channel looks worse than this if ya take a look you`ll see how much Love I put into it just like you are doing -all by my self too .
there is an old man around here with a 57 chevy 3300 series truck. its for sale $500 but is pretty rusty and the paint is nearly gone. it has the original ( i believe) i6 235 ci motor and manual trans.
I was thinking it was dirty and needed cleaning.
@wa2436
GM used Napco 4wd units in this year. There was no full time 4x4 available back then.
that truck looks like it would get down in some mud...
Молодец мужик респект👍🤘😎
Спасибо!
