If you ever go to a twenty one pilots show live, you will learn that the crowd is part of the band, and if Tyler said to roll around on the floor, the entire crowd would do it immediately.
I am starting to really like 21 Pilots. I know their famous songs that were on the radio. To be a drummer takes so much stamina and energy! My 12 year old grandson has been a drummer since he was 4 (I told you that in another video), but he is exhausted after a 1/2 drum lesson! Lol His instructor said it takes a LONG time to work up that muscle memory and get to where your arms, especially forearms, don't hurt as much anymore .
@@TrevandErin he is a great drummer! My favorite drummers are Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) and Neil Peart (Rush). This guy could soon be up there for me. I'm gonna listen to more of their music. They are so incredibly talented!
I usually get a bit annoyed when people pause too much and interrupt the initial videos, yet with your reaction it doesn’t seem like a bother at all, I enjoyed all of it. I love how into the music and lyrics you get! And I genuinely cannot wait ‘till you discover more of this band, i just recently found TOP myself and I have to admit - they’re one of the most impressive artists I’ve ever seen. Hope you’ll continue your journey with them. Highly recommend to check their live at the Fox Theatre performances - truly the best lives i’ve seen
"Ive never heard anything like this." Exactly! There is no other band like this. You did a great job in the reaction. As you dive deeper into their music, I highly recommend you research the song lyrics first. Then you can appreciate the songs even more.
I will. They seem like they have very complex lyrics like in ode to sleep. Why I'll prolly do is read the lyrics before listening to the song and understand what they are talking about first
@@TrevandErin Looking up the lyrics helped me. There are even some songs that Tyler talks about and explains himself. I love that. There are metaphors and symbols in the lyrics, in the videos, and even in the clothes Tyler and Josh wear. They are just incredible and mind blowing!
I know this is from a year ago but I’ve watched some other reaction channels that do twenty one pilots videos and here are my observations about things they’re doing to avoid copyright blocks. Different combinations may work. Blur the video; make the video transparent; reverse the video (mirror image); put a transparent logo over the video; put a non transparent logo over the video that doesn’t block the whole thing; frequently pause. I have also heard some say that they were able to appeal and sometimes get a video put back up.
This song is one of my favorites! Haha I loved “The drummer is so nasty, he’s basically a vocalist.” Josh is an absolute beast 😼 He and Tyler are a true team and best friends. This song is a critique against the music industry and how much of the popular music is manufactured and heartless (soulless / without meaning or purpose) … but will they be alive tomorrow? Will their music last? Tyler was disappointed when he found out a lot of artists don’t write their own music. And as you noted, they use music as therapy. Their music doesn’t fit within a genre. That’s intentional. And it’s what made me a huge fan, especially after seeing them live. They built their core fan base through their live shows. The energy and their connection with their fans is unreal. As for Ode to Sleep - yes that’s another song with a lot of switch ups and tempo changes. It was the first track on their album Vessel that just celebrated its 10th anniversary. They did an anniversary livestream and Tyler did acoustic versions of all the tracks. Never thought I would ever hear an acoustic version of Ode to Sleep! But it strips everything down to the vocals, which have a lot of deep meaning. If you look at the lyrics, it describes the battle he has at night with dark voices / demons. At night is when he struggled the most with depression. In the song, he cries out to God to tell the demons that he’s insignificant so that they will leave him alone. But what’s amazing looking at those lyrics now is seeing how many lives Tyler’s music has touched. Clearly, he’s not insignificant. And he’s continued to use his gift to help and guide others who are also struggling with the darkness and mental health issues. But what’s so unique is how he packages that deep meaning into uplifting music that always keeps you on your toes. You never know what to expect with TØP, but they don’t disappoint. So circling back to Lane Boy, which is off of their Blurryface album. They’ve stayed true to their beliefs and the craft. They felt a lot of pressure to write songs that would be radio friendly. They were almost victims of their own success, when Stressed Out and Ride were on the radio almost non-stop. As a result, many thought they were all hype and no substance, since they just listened to the catchy beat and didn’t give deeper into the lyrics. But even in those songs, there is a message and a purpose. I’m really enjoying your TØP journey! I would recommend Holding Onto You or Fairly Local next. You’ll also love Heavydirtysoul. If you want to explore some of Tyler’s lyrical mastery, I would recommend Migraine and Addict With a Pen (the live from UG Studio version - pure raw emotion).

5:34 I agree I think that the musicians that are making a living off of their music kind of have to have some hits that the public wants after a while Tom started doing more generalized songs and people got upset but did not understand that he's a reaching a bigger audience because he's generalizing. When you make "common" music it doesn't mean it's awful it just means it's more generalized for the public. If an artist only stuck to putting out what they wanted they would like the artists of the past die broke. They want to use their art to support their families so there has to be a give-and-take.
