1) Acoustic Treatment
2) Pick the right type of mic. A dynamic mic can be a good choice if you have bad acoustics, otherwise a condenser mic will probably be the right choice.
3) Set up plugins as your might hear them in the final mix

Hey Reid, learned a lot from watching just a few of your videos over the last couple days. Excited to upgrade my gear soon and start saucing up mixes!! Will an artist be able to hear live vocals (souped up as in the video) with the UAD console and plugins using the Apollo USB? Or would you need the Twin with thunderbolt?? Thanks for all the tips!

Why is there an AutoTune instance in the Pro Tools recording track when there's already one in UAD's Console? I don't think it's doing anything since the recording signal is not being monitored through Pro Tools, only through Console. In any case, having the UAD version of AutoTune is very handy, allowing very low latency monitoring.
The one in console got deleted before we recorded. Also we pushed the blue button in Console so even if the autotune was on in the headphone mix it wouldn’t get recorded in your DAW.
