I can't pinpoint why, but seeing Jake appear on camera to thank everyone for watching the Before You Buys this year seems so wholesome to me!:) As someone who has been tuning in for the daily Gameranx video upload (Top Ten list video, Friday Show, Before You Buys, and so on) every single day this year, I genuinely want to thank everyone on the Gameranx crew (Jake, Falcon, Andrew, etc.) for putting in the time and effort to make the daily videos possible. I thought the game was pretty great just finished the campaign! Really good halo game for 343 but no one can do it like Bungie did it

Comparing this campaign to Halo 4 and Halo 5, it blows both of those out of the water.
This halo has my favorite gameplay and i had more fun than the other ones. The grapple hook mechanic carried my experience. I was spamming it non stop like If I was speed running the game. It doesn’t have the best storyline compared to halo 3 or even 4, but it was definitely worth the purchase.

I've just finished this for myself, I was going into it very critical as I really did not like 4 or 5. But I can honestly say this is a great halo game, very good reset which we needed. Good 8 to a 9 out of 10 for me. Very well needed for the franchise.
Yeah it needed a little more, could have used snow, warthog run, the road level could have been 3x as long, there were some cool things in halo 4 and 5 that they didn’t try to replicate like flying a pelican for example, I also liked the grunt holding a skull in 5, more story in 5 but people complained about that, we skipped too far ahead imo, completely missed the Cortana war, where is Halsey?
So are they redoing 4 or something?? I dont get where the hell this campaign is going at all. Its like they completely disregard what happened at the end of 5

Exact opposite for me. I went into it super excited and had high expectations, just to be disappointed in nearly every category. I rate it 5/10
What you said about the "floaty" warthog is entirely true. I can't count how many times the warthog has flipped over in multiplayer because of a small bump. It's feels too light, like it's the same weight as the mongoose. It's practically a more mobile tank, it should feel heavier and more steady on the ground.

@@virtualbison6928 That's not true at all, have you played infinite yet? I've been playing Halo since CE released and I've never driven a warthog that felt like this. It's too light.
@@sakataslays I've been a part of it since the first flight, in my experience the warthog is more slippery but in a good way to be more nimble and quick. The majority of my experience of the warthog is from Reach.
@@virtualbison6928 it does seem faster than it used to be, which could be why it's more likely to roll over but I think they should make it heavier. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but to me it feels like a super tipsy hovercraft, not a warthog. Maybe I'm just driving it too fast though.
Is it this way due to the artificial gravity on the halo ring being lower than Earth gravity?

While I 100% agree, would you have preferred they delay the entire game by a few months for everyone just for them to add co-op? Wouldn't you say the open "beta test" of the multiplayer was them releasing the game with missing features (the campaign)?
The we-want-it-now nature of us consumers is what put pressure on developers to release incomplete things. Especially with all the delays that have been going on.
Halo is a single player game with a co op option. It is not integral to the base experience. I understand the disappointment but there are millions who have enjoyed Halo solo since CE.

We just want to play a game that isn't shit or incomplete or greedy it isn't a tall order and it isn't asking much folks need standards this game cost Microsoft & 343 over half a billion dollars over 4 years no forge for over a year no co-op for half a year. Halo 3 took 3 years to develop all modes and features right out the box Reach 3 years all modes and features right out the box and they developed ODST inbetween Reach's launch. Stop justifying & rationalizing incomplete cash grab products to consumers.
I will say as a huge Halo fan the missions in the tunnels from nexus to silent auditorium were super awesome. I've seen a lot of people/reviewers complain about them and from an outsider (not a huge halo nerd) I can understand why. However, if you are a huge halo nerd or just remember playing ce, 2, and 3 you will love the tunnels architecture as it brings back rooms, spaces, scenery not seen since there respective halo installment. One example, (spoiler free) is the gondola from Halo 2 making its return in one part, etc. so if your a big halo fan you don't gotta worry about that part
as a halo nerd who read all the books, even i gotta say the main level design is prolly the weakest in the series (yes lower than 5). good story tho

I am and I feel most people should be happy that 343 actually took the critique serious and went another route before it was totally to late and the whole series died. This is a salvage mission and a damn good one if you ask me.

We should thank Cyberpunk for failing then.
Halo Infinite was delayed in August 2020. Cyberpunk released in December 2020. I don't think there's any connection.

@@Geeler that's true, but I don't think that's hard enough evidence to say that it scared 343. The buggy and unfinished final product that Cyberpunk was at launch was far more impactful on the gaming industry than any rumors of rocky development at CDPR could've been. I mean, God of War (2018) was delayed internally and there were rumors of troubled development at Sony Santa Monica, but the game ended up being great. Same is true of Halo Infinite. There's no way to know for sure what state a game will launch in until it's released to the public.

I have completely love this game. Introduced on my series X with the Early multiplayer we got, thought it was seamless and unbelievably smooth. And now to be decently into the campaign now, so far I'm a huge huge fan. Looking forward to seeing how the second half of the campaign goes. Thanks for this video man!

I know it's an impossibility because of pattent protection, but imagine the campaign with the Nemesis system...that might give some variety from game to game and expand the longevity.
I agree, or because of the patent even if they just made enemies tougher when re visiting areas, or the ability to lose the forward bases and have to retake them
that would be so damn cool.
@@MO_Disk I think the original comment is just implying that even more variety is never a bad thing. The nemesis system specifically would work great with halo since the covenant actually have some personality, more so than enemies from a lot of other games anyways

@@somerandomfox8579 yes by Warner Bros. I remember they got a lot of flak on the internet for it, but it is what it is. Scummy company practices. Sucks that they dont make any other games like that. I wouldnt be surprised they did it so that they can just sit back and pounce on another game dev that makes a similar system, to squeeze some extra cash.
I can't believe this channel is nearly 10 years old. I'm pretty sure I've been subscribed from nearly the beginning and watching it is ingrained in my weekly schedule at this point.

I've been playing Halo since I was old enough to hold a controller and I'm finally feeling that excitement come back with this new installment. I've been loving the Multiplayer and can't wait to dive back into the story

This is the first game I'll be playing on the Series X that I've actually been waiting for to impress me on the console. Outriders looks fantastic as does Forza and fun to play but these games are what you're waiting for.

Bascially same man, I was like 4 or 5 when I first played HALO CE, HALO 2 and when HALO 3 came out later on. But I had more time and memories on the 360 as we sold the original XBOX hence why HALO 3 will be my all time favourite game, has a special place in my heart. 14+ years later and I'm still finding/hearing quotes, features, how much skulls can't impact the game, and a bunch of other stuff that I've never heard/experienced in ALL these years.

I will never forget the day when I found this channel through a before you buy video.
The best part is, the before you buy was about an obscure game that I can’t even remember the title to and yet I loved the before you buy format ever since I stumbled onto it.
The "Open-World" is a Hub World. Its like a living Lobby. Its where you start Missions/travel to and where you Go after Missions. The Activitys you can do there are Not necessary you can strait up go to the next Story Mission
Sort of. but it's 75% of the game, so not quite just a lobby.
So what is it like most missions take place on the ring then some make you go off world?
It's still an open world as opposed to the other games where one mission and story would lead directly into the next. In an open world the mission just sits there until you feel like getting around to it as if the enemy just sits there doing nothing as you run around wrecking other shit all over the place. Sure, you can play one story mission after another, but that's not how the game was designed. You probably have to do some of the side stuff to progress in the story.
Is there a difference if you play just the story missions straight though? I doubt it.
At least with the mission structure of past Halo games they had the excuse of not having the time to call reinforcements or sure up defences. Even if they were warned that bad guys were on the way (to the bad guys you are the bad guy), you'd show up before help could get there for them.
I wouldn’t really consider this a hub world. It’s more of a traditional style open world than just a hub world you visit to do certain things and connect one part of the map to another. It’s all one big open area to explore. Hub worlds are places like the one in demon souls you go to to get to the other realms or like the sanctuary in borderlands 2 etc

I'm enjoying the gameplay in multiplayer, and the way they seem to have set up the open world seems like they could just continuously add new world to explore with similar objectives, but different bosses and new designs and enemies. I can see alot of room for them to make some great content for this game
Its a planet sized ring - there may be alot of DLCs to come. Would be crazy to have like a gravemind OR precursor DLC - tired of it always being forrunner ... forrunner....
it needs it the first biome is rather dull but I can see it getting better over time. I hope they dont do a rockstar though like with GTA 5 and just do multiplayer stuff and forget about single player.

They did say that halo infinite is the last mainstream halo game, but they’re going to continuously be adding on to the story of halo through infinite, hence the name halo infinite 👀
I played the MP beta and in some aspects it WAS better than 5 (which was a total abomination from start to finish) but thats really not saying much. I felt like the pistol and maybe AR could have used a buff (but not to the degree where they outshine the BR and DMR).

I feel Halo: Infinite is going to go the way of Games as a Service, but in terms of using Infinite as a platform to launch large scale DLC content, so there won't be a Halo: Infinite 2, but a fluid continuation. It'll be modular, as Multiplayer and Campaign being separate has already shown.
I hope so. If the future gameplay loops are as addicting as the ones they have now, I'd gladly pay for expansions (well I have gamepass, so not pay, but you get my meaning.)
I hope so as it's pretty barebones atm I hope it becomes top tier in a year or two

@@jonathanbarlow1362 And Destiny 2 is accomplishing that original goal. They still have no plans to make a Destiny 3 and are instead launching expansions to expand on the game.

Just finished the campaign, it's soooooooo good. Really like the direction they took and turning Halo into one humongous sandbox experience was a great move. Now I'm going through in Heroic, then legendary 👌🏾👌🏾

@@toeleg maybe he's new to halo, for me as a halo veteran player, I played it on heroic than Legendary. Currently on the 3rd mission on Legendary.
@@JuanMartinez-vr7bg Legendary was a lot of fun, but boy are some of the bosses straight booty on legendary. And a few of the non-boss/mini-boss sections were almost just as hard if not harder. Hunters are SCARY again in this game, at least on Legendary, which I enjoyed. They're so fast.
Other than a few of the bosses and the indoor chieftan/hunter sections, this was a very easy campaign on Legendary compared to the other Halo games solo, but boy do they make up for the difficulty with those fights.
Very, very much enjoyed the gameplay/ movement mechanics though. Felt really well polished.

When I'm interested in a game I almost always look for a before you buy anymore, and it's made me buy a few and not buy a few, you guys put in a lot of time Into the Info and opinions you put into your videos and it's made me realize I can trust you judgment just as much as I can one of my gamer buddies, cuz that's basically the way I see you guys. Stoked for this new Halo experience no doubt, I look forward to more content from you guys. ✌

Huge fan from CE day 1. This game brought me back to the days of "good Halo" with something fresh and I Loved it. Good story, nice gameplay and just fun moments that actually made me laugh (mostly me dying).

Its what I did after a few levels on legendary. Game wasn't fun and stretching out with difficulty didn't seem like a great idea.
Couldn't even bring myself to finish the first mission. Such a let down that it was a single player campaign as well with no split screen as other halo games.
The main problem I found with infinites story is that it suffered from trying to push away from Halo 5’s story a lot. Otherwise, I would put it as 3rd best story.
Having a mode where some people play Spartans and some play banished trying to defend a base would be dope. They made a huge open world might as well use it.
They could rip that one good mode from Gears of War: Judgement and play it well.
Start with like grunts and standard elites and jackals. Work your way up through brutes and top out with hunters.
This is the only good series/video that actually goes in depth into games and show us the basics of what it is. Thank you so much for doing that.

Great gameplay but the story lacked BIG time. They should call it, "Halo: Infinite Podiums". It was small scale and I was surprised when I finished it. Nothing really stood out and the end left me unsatisfied. 343 just still hasn't figured out that Bungie formula. A shame.

The thing is, while it is true Halo Infinite is an open world game, you can't let your pre-conceptions of that get in the way. You gotta just play it like Halo. The open world activities are simply a vehicle that 343 used to hand-craft interesting Halo combat encounters. In my opinion, using the open world to the game's advantage gave me one of the most widely varied Halo gameplay I've had to date.
I'm a Halo vet, been playing since I was a kid playing the DEMO of Combat Evolved on a laptop. Halo Infinite feels like a _Master Chief simulator._ Go play it

Haven't played it yet, but as a long time Halo fan, I really hope that 343 releases expansive, diverse locales for campaign DLC. The changing and dynamic environments in the other Halo games are what made me absolutely love the story initially. Everything felt so sweeping and I always felt like I was floating and never ready for the next great vista!

I think the game is going to be really good but I really like story driven games so it not being super story heavy is kind off a bummer for me but I do also really like the whole going around the map in a warthog and stuff because that’s just awesome
It hurts me so much that the missions are all pretty much the same and there isnt coop on launch.
Have you ever played a Halo game? It has as much story as any other. This one is just much longer than the others so it's spaced out more.

With so many games receiving game-changing updates or perhaps on the nostalgic side of things, getting “remastered,” how about a new program called “Remember (game title)?” Or a “Since you Bought.” Yeah that last name was terrubuul. @@rodplays3726 If not that, an in game weather system would be sweet. Imagine you roll up in the warthog to fight a boss and as you walk (or grapple) towards the boss it's starts thundering and lightning. The atmosphere 😱
@@mastergroggle1825 that's also amazing maybe different sections of the map have different weather's with different looking creatures 2 suit the weather would love go see a big foggy area as I fight some enemies just rising as the fight continues

I love running around with the AI marines. If you have special weapons at your FOB you can give them to the AI and drive around in the modified warthog. I run with 2 volatile skewers, an m41 tracker, an arcane sentinel beam, and a tracker hydra. It's amazing. My marines won't even let me run anyone over before they light up what's on screen.

The repitition isnt as bad this time around since the gameplay is so smooth and a blast.
And to kind of explain the open world mission layout, if you love halo and destiny, you will LOVE every second of this.

Bro the combat is crazy when you're utilizing tools and stuff nothing I've ever seen in Halo.. feels a little "doom-ish"on the first 2 levels(all I've played) but it's fantastic

I'll be honest. First, good to see Halo going back to its roots and I think this game will be good. However, pretty disappointed if there are no variety in biomes. All of the Halos (at least the ones that took place on the installations), had unique mission biomes and it is a significant miss if that isn't in this game. Just thought that issue was forgiven and underplayed a little in the gameranx review.
There are rumors/concept arts, I hear, of there being other places on the Ring in future installments, however they tackle that sort of thing. I can't say for sure, but I can surely hope so!

me too me too, and every level had different places and they all felt so different and had different atmospheres. sigh, Halo 1 was the pinnacle of halo games, with some halo 2 missions being pretty cool and some halo 3 missions too I guess.
From what I remember the reason it's called infinite was due to the idea of them adding more to the ring. Similarly to halo 4s spartan stories which would release more content every so often to add to the story of halo. I imagine they are going to stick to that idea and continue the story and add more map in seasons.

I have played so many halo campaigns coop (playing for the first time, getting through reach atm) with my friend and i honestly can't imagine wanting to play a campaign solo. I feel like these games are made for split screen coop. Without it, I can't say for sure I would want to play.
If you can bare it, you could wait however long it takes for then to release co-op.. hopefully it isn't long tho cause I know for a fact co-op would be so much fun in this type of world
I'm extremely bummed out to find this out. I've always had such a blast playing co op and I cannot imagine running through it without a friend I've been playing with since 3. Guess I will be waiting until they add co op.

@@mastergroggle1825 From what I've heard it won't be coming till May 2022. I'm disappointed that co-op isn't being implemented at launch especially since they've had 6 years to work on the game.
@@jonburford633 Yeah I agree completely. Imo they shouldn't have dropped the game period till the WHOLE package was ready. Forge, Custom games, theater, multiplayer with the correct playlists and stuff, campaign all ready all of it. As it should be with all games.
But May? So when Season 2 drops? That's so long tho man
I'm a big fan of the multiplayer, but I really hope for more content. As for the single player, as long as the story is there, then so am I.

Honestly, I just played it on PC, and I loved it. It's probably my favorite campaign. And that's honestly the interactions between the new Cortana and Chief. Like, it's great. And I liked the pilot that saved Chief right at the start of the game. The game plays great and I couldn't stop playing it.
trust me... youll love every second of it.. you will immediately attached as u jump into the game for the first time. the gameplay is so smooth and fluid on ultra setting. bravo
I am happy with the focus on the particular feature of the open-world concept because it was something that annoyed me 5 minutes into leaving the first 'main mission'. I can appreciate the move to this style of game, but there is something so exasperating and annoying about having to travel across a map and have various encounters and complete a laundry list of tasks versus having a packaged up 'level' for you to play. Certain games have mastered this and made it enticing to explore and have numerous 'side quests', take Dark Souls. Truthfully, ODST had some open world exploration and hidden secrets, but there was this continuous push and direction towards the main event of the 'mission'. Maybe I am just too focused on this particular facet, but Halo to me should have kept to the old style of campaign and thus previous Halo games still take the cake for me for campaign (Love me some Reach or Halo 3).
I played almost all the halo games right before Infinite and I'm actually enjoying Infinite gameplay the most so far. I only started the intro for ODST before infinite came out and tbh I didn't really feel like playing any more of it anyway. I was disappointed that there was no co op because I never enjoyed playing halo by myself, but that's why I feel like I like infinite over the others. Now granted I've only played the intro and some open world so far, but I'm enjoying my time solo. I'll still being impatiently waiting for co op though as back when I first played halo I have always done it co op.
I never got around to playing Halo 5. Played all the other ones and enjoyed them. Not a super Halo fan, but definitely looking forward to the campaign after playing the multiplayer for a couple weeks.
