yeah won't be waiting. maybe I'll pick it up on sale but I see absolutely no reason to buy the game for $60 and then have to wait 6+ months for the full game
@Judge Hazzard I can see issues with less game modes than MCC and things of that nature. But it's just fun. It feels like Halo 3 multiplayer. You just wanna get on with the boys and do dumb stuff on big team.
I'm so torn because on one hand it plays great, but then the monetization slaps me across the face. There's no progression outside the battlepass. There's no worthwile unlockables outside the battlepass. There's not even a reason to do good in a match when everyone gets the same obligatory participation trophy worth of battlepass xp as a reward. It is nice to see people still Tea Bag though.

I love how it’s almost revolutionary for a company to listen to the players. I feel like the devs are just like “What, you mean you incorporated the players feedback and now they like the game more?? That’s preposterous!”

Too bad 343 didn’t listen to fans like 6 months ago about their challenge/progression system. It would be cool to have a normal XP system on launch, but no, they have to sell challenge swaps.

Even if it wasn't the perfect Halo game, I think us Halo fans can be grateful of how much it improved from halo 4 and 5 in terms of multiplayer and actual story.
I think the main point of the “open world” was to give players a chance to take in the beauty of a halo ring. Trying to get back to the big vast mysterious feeling you get from stepping onto a halo ring for the first time. I actually didn’t mind the open world. I loved slowing down my pace of play just to take in everything
@@TheInfiniteNine Same. The moment I stole a Banshee I went to look at the outside of the ring. Game killed me. Then I tried for that chain of pylons and, what turned out to be, the silent auditorium. Killed me again. A shame the map is so much smaller than what it shows.
My favorite aspect of the open world was gearing up to do the missions, bringing in the best snipers or variant guns to breeze through the missions easier and more dynamically.
I actually like the dynamic between the three characters. John: The Veteran, doing the only thing he knows, The Weapon: Naive AI who is lost and confused on who she is and what her new purpose is and then Echo 216: A Constant reminder that there are others on this ring that are vulnerable and who have things that they don't want to lose
Honestly I'm happy to Cortana (or at least a version of her) closer to her old self. I hit my head on the table so hard when they made her a Skynet bad guy. (PLEASE NEVER DO THAT AGAIN 343!)

Big waste of time and resources the higher ups at xbox seriously need to stop wasting money on 343 and Halo. With how much money they sunk into this game and a giant empty open world is what they came up with it's ridiculous. Give 100 million dollars to id software to make a game for you xbox like what are you doing. You own id, you own machine games, you own Bethesda, you own arkane studios, and your dumping so much money into a studio that have proven nothing except that they can run a franchise into the ground that was the biggest game on the planet at one point. They've proven that they can disappoint now put the chips into a basket that have proven they can make a game.
I really don't understand the point of the squads if they're not going to put your fireteam in the same squad. The only purpose of it so far is it highlights your squad's names in green, which would be nice to keep track of your friends in game. But I don't care at all where the randoms on my team are

It was so good I just wish the story kept going even though I get tired of fighting non stop i still want more story. I hope they do campaign DLC like Doom eternal did it would be perfect and the game looks amazing especially the cut-scenes and I love that Chief talks more it just adds to hear him and understand him better as a character.
they handled the missions well with the open world. yeah there's some open world missions but the cinematic epic levels scattered throughout is the best outside of some repetition and theres the standard 9 like any other halo

The Disruptor is a lot more useful than people think. After landing 3 hits, it'll apply a DoT to the enemy that arcs to other nearby enemies. 6 hits is a guaranteed kill. I believe the arcing DoT can also disable vehicles, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Edit: I was wrong on the arcing disabling vehicles. You can disable vehicles, but it requires 7 direct hits. Also applying the DoT with 3 hits also disables the enemy's shield regen for 10 seconds, leaving them vulnerable. Edit 2: The DoT will also prevent enemies from scoping on with their weapons. This will also affect enemies hit by the arcing damage. Last Edit: Some people have mentioned it takes more than 6 shots for a guaranteed kill, so I tested last night and can confirm it seems like it takes 8 now, so it looks like they've nerfed it recently. So while it still lives up to it's namesake, it doesn't have as much killing potential.
Idk, i personally liked the pilot, he showed what a normal human being would probably act like in that situation (not wanting to do anything crazy and gtfo) but he also had a good character arc, he went from “are you fucking crazy we need to leave” to litterally handing chief a gun and sayin “shit whats the next mission, big guy?”
I feel the same way, there are a lot of issues with the game, but the core gameplay (and apparently the story) is good enough to carry the experience, especially for long time halo fans who haven't been interested since 343 took over
Like the fact that they managed to salvage Halo 5's dogshit narrative and turn it around into something even Charlie enjoys is just amazing on it's own honestly
A lot? Don’t know about that one chief. Cant really say that there is a lot of problems solely based off of a beta that has been released 3 weeks early. Most likely they didn’t put mode selection in beta because they wanted faster matchmaking times. “But I have challenges” you have 170 days, until may, to complete it, even then it doesn’t expire.
When you say the game is repetitive and explain how the capturing of outposts and rescuing marines works it sounds really boring but when you actually play the game it’s fun as fuck. You never know how things will go, espically on the harder difficulties. They could go great and nobody dies, or you could die multiple times to a sniper jackal and a suicide grunt that you never knew existed. The open world is full of tons of secrets and marine hideouts and it’s evident the developers put a lot of love into making it, if you just explore you’ll know what I’m talking about quickly, the detail is insane.
I agree. Had way too much fun loading a razorback full of marines and raiding the enemy outposts. Is it the best open world game? No, but I think it's the best game play in any halo game by far and I've been playing since halo 1
A way to solve the “boring open-world” is to basically not set a waypoint to your objective, and just use vehicles or certain equipment just to move around the world in a unique way. You will not have fun just wasting away, going from a to b to c to d to e etc. just by speeding through areas with the grapple shot. Late Night Gaming originally suggested this when he got his hands on the pre-release demo, and I hope it helps.
I don't know there's one specific mission where there are 4 objectives, all like 1km apart, and even though I was driving from point to point, at that point it really felt like the open world was padding. It was kind of terrible.
@@JosephF. difference is, for the 4 spire beacons, is that there’s different objectives you can do on the way to them, FOB bases, Bounty Bosses, and the collectibles.
@@stephencurry4835 I mean you're right but I still thought the open world made that mission worse. There wasn't a lot directly on the path, and that mission came affectively straight after the B-Plot of the campaign began to really speed up, so as a result of that, and effectively having as much of the open world done as I was going to want to do (it was my goal the whole time to unlock the wasp). And maybe more to the point, they just wouldn't have had you know, 4 spires with the exact same objective, copy pasted, if it wasn't open world. To me, that section of the game was kind of like the mission Forerunner in Halo 4, and I don't know, the lower amount of repeats, and the sort of curated linear setpieces in that mission made it far better imo.
Haven’t finished the campaign yet but this is the most fun I’ve had with Halo since Reach for sure. Multiplayer is good but definitely agree it needs more modes. Also needs Anticheat, better net code for hit detection, and better ways to unlock armor without paywalls. Especially if you spend $60 for the campaign (which should have given you unlock able armor by playing)
You mean the 4 new armor coatings and 3 pieces of armor I unlocked in campaign for multiplayer.... I haven't even unlocked that many of the campaign cosmetics yet.
@@ianland8474 Strange, because I collected every single MP collectible in campaign and not once did I see any armor pieces. Just weapon and armor coatings, some vehicle coatings and a few emblems and poses.

@@LoganPerplexx Bungie Halo is Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, and Reach. Those games are what people call “classic”, and the people who developed those games are Bungie. 4 and 5 were made by 343, and they didn’t feel like the older Halos. Infinite does.

I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong about the open world and it being empty, but it was never promised that it would be jam packed with stuff. I think it was more of an addition to show the beauty of halo and bring back that “awe” the previous halos had and I think the open world aspect did just that. I love it. @@shadow7988 Wtf. The world is loaded with enemies. You can't drive more than a minute without running into some patrol unless you've finished the game and are just exploring for fun.
Currently have 15 hours into multiplayer almost exclusively quick play, no BTB and I gotta say it's pretty damn fun so far. Not without it's issues, definitely needs more maps and gamemodes, the ability to decide what gamemodes you want to play, some tweaks to the UI and of course, more ways to earn cosmetics besides paying for them(although I don't really care about cosmetics so eh). Overall though, in turns of the actual game itself, I'm having as much fun playing as when I was a kid playing 3 and reach with my friends online.
60 hours into Multiplayer playing almost exclusively BTB, with a lot of Fiesta when it was available. Its the best FPS PvP multiplayer ive played in my life.
Wait until you play ranked. I'm 1800+ in Onyx and went on a 12 game win streak with my team and went up all of 3 points, but the first game I lost I lost 15. It's been like this for the last week. Not to mention the game crashes still exist and you can roughly assume 1/5 matches will have someone disconnect. Super frustrating.

@@sebastiansuazo2734 mhm once I figured this out I started using it more. I think the reason why most people dont know is because it looks a lot like the storm rifle which was short ranged.
I've actually seen most other people praise the open world since it allows freedom in how you approach enemies. Theres also some insanely hidden collectibles on giant structures if you take the time to grapple up them.
It’s definitely a different type of open world. Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best games ever and it’s open world is empty aside from the bosses. I’m not saying Infinite is on that level (I haven’t even played it) but I also think that it’s okay for an open world to be barren as long as the actual world is interesting and inviting to explore which I feel is the case here.
Don't forget that a lot of the reviews praise thing that don't got a lot of importance Did you guys remember how the living and breathing world of watch dogs 2 was a game changer? Me neither
So. Personally, I just wanted Halo infinite to blend in the Halo wars experience of gaining ground and unlocking upgrades with purpose, helping to defend areas. Would love to see an update that lets marine squads fight outposts or you can meet up with some that is planning to attack an area, even give you some suggestions on what to attack and more! Something that gives the military aspect of the game a bit of respect!
Yes! I've been trying to tell people that this is the problem with the campaign, but they just chalk it up to, "Oh infinite is an open world game now. That's not how open world games work.
They’re also the things that’ll keep the game alive even though most people will hate it. The player base will dwindle but the money coming in from the dedicated players buying skins and armor will be more than enough to turn a huge profit no matter what happens
To unlock everything in Season 1, and assuming you have the season bundle, you would need to play the game every day and level up every day for 100 days straight. Granted, you get a guaranteed 1000XP (which is a full level) for the first 6 matches of the day and some of the Challenges are generous with their XP payouts, but that's still at least ~600 matches you need to play *just* for Season 1. With each match ending at around 10 minutes, that's over 100 hours required. The fact that they expect that we do this all over again for Season 2 is crazy.
I've seen a few other reviews saying they didn't like the story or characters, and a few saying infinite's open world is very good and adds a lot. But one thing remains consistent, everyone likes it. It's not perfect, it's no masterpiece, but everyone is enjoying it. I think that's all halo needed, just a good game that has some strong points, and is a lot of fun to play.
@@mitchellp7739 I feel like part of it is just that the originals came out when we were kids and didn't spend half our time on the internet seeing what other people think about games. I'm not the biggest Halo fan and never have been but people put way too much weight on what the online community thinks about games versus what the game actually is. If one of the OG Halos came out today I guarantee reviews would still be relatively mixed in comment sections. IMHO it's best to just glance at the critic review consensus (usually less biased) and give it a try if it's interesting to you.

It's like old vs. new Star Wars or old vs. new sports cars or old vs. new guitars/anything. RE: Threat Sensor, I didn't understand until playing through the campaign that it's designed as a hard counter to the active camo. So it has limited usefulness, but within its niche (also good for watching objectives i.e. CTF) it's very powerful Pretty spot-on review overall though
I've found a good use for it in Fiesta(since that's the main non-btb mode you can get it in). It's good for scouting around corners if you have a melee weapon or even just flushing people out since you know when you're visible on one
It seems to be a common practice now to over impose the cash shop, so when people complain they dial it back a little, but it's still worse then it was with the previous installment. I am glad you are being critical of their micro transactions.
Just wanted to share that I disagree with your opinion on the open world.. and this is coming from someone who played CE day 1. This game captured a lot of the mystique and lure of CE. Grab some marines… grab some guns, jump in headfirst and don’t stop shooting. Agree 100% on forerunner structure levels though. Beautiful and mysterious… but a lot of rinse and repeat
343 was so quick to speed up progression and add queues other than quick play. They're listening to their community, and for that reason I believe that halo infinite will be around for a long while.
That’s true, but you cant ignore that fact that 343 actually has bozos making these terrible decisions with the game. If they dont fire those people then they will probably be in trouble.

Absolutely a step in the right direction. 343 are innovating and improving on gameplay while still respecting and maintaining halos core roots- without turning into cod in space.
I hated halo 5's weapon designs but the banished weapons look sweet in halo infinite. And I'm glad to see they are using stuff from halo wars 1 and 2. Love those games.
I’ve never had a problem with microtransactions as long as they’re only cosmetic. The only problem is there’s not really anything to unlock outside of the battle pass and campaign. It could be way worse tbh.
the main issue is how much they cost. One whole armor set is 20 dollars which is ridiculous, the bp is great though especially since you keep it forever
@@Dizeased nah, the cost is fine compared to most other games. It’s only cosmetic. Now if you could buy something like special load outs to start games with or something like that, then that would be an actual issue. Or of course P2W loot boxes.
So fact about the pulse carbine, It's a long range weapon, The lock on gets stronger and the projectiles get faster the further you are, They still miss like 30% of the time but at least you can actually hit and it one bursts shields.
Correction, medium range, since the tracking fails at both close and long, but is very strong in the middle (unless the user strafes randomly enough, which often just entirely breaks the tracking sadly)
I wish there were more exotic areas to explore on the map, like maybe some snowy areas or sand areas. Love the campaign but it just feels a little one dimensional with the setting.
One thing I really wish the open world had was more biomes. Back in 2018 I could’ve sworn they had like deserts and snowy terrains in the trailer. Maybe I’m wrong but I wish there was more scenery other than forests and forerunner structures, a CE ring style.

Halo Infinite is a genuinely great game so far, but what's holding back the multiplayer for me and a lot of people is the progression system and the predatory microtransactions. We all know that extra content and game modes will be added soon, but as of right now, it looks as if the progression system is here to stay. To unlocked everything from season 1, I would first need to buy the battle-pass and then I would have to play the game every day for 100 days hoping I unlock a full level each day. Back when you only got 50XP per match, and needed 1000XP to level up, you'd need to play 20 matches a day, or over 2,000 matches in total! Granted, the challenges add progression points and the current bonus XP where the first 6 matches gives you a guaranteed 1000 XP helps... but damn... it's still ridiculous that they expect you to play *THAT* much just to unlock the color Grey or Master Chief's helmet, but hey... 600 matches is better than 2,000 matches right? I currently have 36 hours in the multiplayer and I only reached like level 27. Granted, a good chunk of that was way before the XP / challenge changes, but it's still ridiculous. This isn't even including those quick events that only last about a week and can have an extra 25+ levels. It forces people who work full-time or just play casually to either fork over the cash, play for months on end just to get some basic cosmetics, or just completely miss out on some nostalgic / favorite armor pieces because of how bad the system is right now. Oh, and this is only for the first season... so basically, whenever the next season hits, I'm gonna have to do this all over again. Plus, they want $20 for an armor set that doesn't add anything other cosmetics... Seriously? I'm hopeful it'll all change, but as of now? Yikes...
I’m usually not that into open world games but I personally think it’s pretty fun in Halo Intinite. It just feels like a massive halo sandbox to mess around in, but there are still the more linear story missions too.
As much as we were all hoping for a new legendary title that would become and instant classic to refresh our taste in Halo after H5, I gotta say, I'm just overwhelmingly happy that we got a good, fun, well developed addition to the franchise that innovated new ideas.
Halo Infinite is so close to being my perfect Halo game- if the open world segments were a bit tighter, had more things to do, and better integrated into the linear segments (ie things you do in the open world should have more impact on the story) it would be much closer. Honestly to me the main missions never even felt that repetitive even with them mostly taking place in the forerunner hallways, because the enemy composition was unique each encounter and it never felt like a slog.
I was worried about the open world aspect of halo infinite. I love the structured level design for halos campaigns but this game luckily doesn’t take that away but it also appeases my need for exploring. I thought it was perfect with its mix between open world and guided levels
Didn't play much halo back in the day, but when i played this game it was surprisingly fun and exciting. Yes it has it's quirks but is definitely worth a play for people who want a nostalgia kick or new players just wanting something to play.
im actually really enjoying the campaign. with the new movement mechanics there is so much you can do and on higher difficulty it can get pretty intense sometimes. huge improvement on the last 2 games for sure. they did great
I was really confused by some of the bizarre takes Gmanlives had in his review, and you and ACG have confirmed it: Gmanlives doesn't like or even really understand Halo, and it shows in his review. At one point he complained about how they keep using the same song throughout the series... The theme.... I'm not just coming down on him, but since I won't be able to get my hands on this game for a while, all I have to go off of is my experience and knowledge of Halo (it is depressingly vast), what I've seen of the game, and those three reviews, which includes this. So when his review was the first one I watched (I don't know why, he's not exactly my go-to for top tier quality reviews) I was confused to hear him complain about things that really aren't a problem in Halo, or that have been a part of the series from the start for a reason. Glad to hear the game is about what I expected. A great step up, but nothing that's going to topple the experience of 1, 2, 3 or reach

I disagree on what you think of the open world. I was stunned when I got to it and it looks amazing. I appreciate the ability to run around and see the world of zeta. It’s awesome to have open world AND linear in the same game. It can only get better from here. It might not be the best in regards to open world activities, but it’s a great start and like I said it’s just cool to have that kind of freedom in halo.
i really liked the open world because it provides more freedom to tackle the missions in whatever way you saw fit, rather than the traditional halo approach of funneling you into an area and having you shoot your way through. typically whenever i play halo on heroic or higher, i have to leave cover to progress and have my shields melted by plasma weapons just in time for the sniper to dome me and deplete what little health i had left, in a matter of seconds. with the open world and FOB mechanics combined, i can approach an objective with a marine fireteam however i see fit with a loadout i know how to use effectively, and neutralize the base without the constant respawns. it doesn't entirely remove the difficulty too. i have to think about my actions and carry them out successfully, but i'm not cowering behind a wall the whole time. i feel it puts the player more in control of those master chief moments we've so far only been able to witness in cutscenes, which for me made the game a lot more fun to play
Halo infinite should not have been marketed as an "open world" game because It really isn't. All they did was make regular halo missions with a more open ended design and some bonus stuff to do if you want, and it's actually really cool to see them embracing this type of design. The main problem is that most missions feel the same, because for the most part they are the same. The levels are also designed specifically for the grapplehook, which is fine, however it makes vehicles pretty useless and the game ends up feeling more like borderlands than Halo. Overall the game is great, just needs more level variety.
Glad to hear the campaign was great this time around. About the multiplayer I do think it’s a lot of fun but yes they do need to add more content/ playlists, the progression needs work, and the micro transactions DEFINITELY needs some work

I'm so torn because on one hand it plays great, but then the monetization slaps me across the face. There's no progression outside the battlepass. There's no worthwile unlockables outside the battlepass. I think the main point of the “open world” was to give players a chance to take in the beauty of a halo ring. Trying to get back to the big vast mysterious feeling you get from stepping onto a halo ring for the first time. I actually didn’t mind the open world. I loved slowing down my pace of play just to take in everything
I agree I would always look at the vast backrounds in halo 1-3 and tell myself I wish I could actually go there and explore.

For MP they REALLY need to make it so when you join BTB with a squad of friends, you STAY with that squad and not get split up.
Yes it's dumb. The group just has to meet up at an objective but it would be smarter and common sense to just put them next to eachother at the start.
I really don't understand the point of the squads if they're not going to put your fireteam in the same squad. The only purpose of it so far is it highlights your squad's names in green, which would be nice to keep track of your friends in game. But I don't care at all where the randoms on my team are

I just beat the campaign and the wait was worth it entirely I loved this campaign so much
It was so good I just wish the story kept going even though I get tired of fighting non stop i still want more story. I hope they do campaign DLC like Doom eternal did it would be perfect and the game looks amazing especially the cut-scenes and I love that Chief talks more it just adds to hear him and understand him better as a character.
they handled the missions well with the open world. yeah there's some open world missions but the cinematic epic levels scattered throughout is the best outside of some repetition and theres the standard 9 like any other halo

The Disruptor is a lot more useful than people think. After landing 3 hits, it'll apply a DoT to the enemy that arcs to other nearby enemies. 6 hits is a guaranteed kill. I believe the arcing DoT can also disable vehicles, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Edit: I was wrong on the arcing disabling vehicles. You can disable vehicles, but it requires 7 direct hits. Also applying the DoT with 3 hits also disables the enemy's shield regen for 10 seconds, leaving them vulnerable.
Edit 2: The DoT will also prevent enemies from scoping on with their weapons. This will also affect enemies hit by the arcing damage.
Last Edit: Some people have mentioned it takes more than 6 shots for a guaranteed kill, so I tested last night and can confirm it seems like it takes 8 now, so it looks like they've nerfed it recently. So while it still lives up to it's namesake, it doesn't have as much killing potential.

Idk, i personally liked the pilot, he showed what a normal human being would probably act like in that situation (not wanting to do anything crazy and gtfo) but he also had a good character arc, he went from “are you fucking crazy we need to leave” to litterally handing chief a gun and sayin “shit whats the next mission, big guy?”
I feel the same way, there are a lot of issues with the game, but the core gameplay (and apparently the story) is good enough to carry the experience, especially for long time halo fans who haven't been interested since 343 took over

When you say the game is repetitive and explain how the capturing of outposts and rescuing marines works it sounds really boring but when you actually play the game it’s fun as fuck. You never know how things will go, espically on the harder difficulties. They could go great and nobody dies, or you could die multiple times to a sniper jackal and a suicide grunt that you never knew existed. The open world is full of tons of secrets and marine hideouts and it’s evident the developers put a lot of love into making it, if you just explore you’ll know what I’m talking about quickly, the detail is insane.

A way to solve the “boring open-world” is to basically not set a waypoint to your objective, and just use vehicles or certain equipment just to move around the world in a unique way. You will not have fun just wasting away, going from a to b to c to d to e etc. just by speeding through areas with the grapple shot. Late Night Gaming originally suggested this when he got his hands on the pre-release demo, and I hope it helps.

I don't know there's one specific mission where there are 4 objectives, all like 1km apart, and even though I was driving from point to point, at that point it really felt like the open world was padding. It was kind of terrible.

@@stephencurry4835 I mean you're right but I still thought the open world made that mission worse. There wasn't a lot directly on the path, and that mission came affectively straight after the B-Plot of the campaign began to really speed up, so as a result of that, and effectively having as much of the open world done as I was going to want to do (it was my goal the whole time to unlock the wasp).
And maybe more to the point, they just wouldn't have had you know, 4 spires with the exact same objective, copy pasted, if it wasn't open world. To me, that section of the game was kind of like the mission Forerunner in Halo 4, and I don't know, the lower amount of repeats, and the sort of curated linear setpieces in that mission made it far better imo.
Haven’t finished the campaign yet but this is the most fun I’ve had with Halo since Reach for sure. Multiplayer is good but definitely agree it needs more modes. Also needs Anticheat, better net code for hit detection, and better ways to unlock armor without paywalls. Especially if you spend $60 for the campaign (which should have given you unlock able armor by playing)

I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong about the open world and it being empty, but it was never promised that it would be jam packed with stuff. I think it was more of an addition to show the beauty of halo and bring back that “awe” the previous halos had and I think the open world aspect did just that. I love it. Most people don't buy a Halo game to have a walking simulator. It's an arena shooter, not far cry.
@@shadow7988 Wtf. The world is loaded with enemies. You can't drive more than a minute without running into some patrol unless you've finished the game and are just exploring for fun.
Currently have 15 hours into multiplayer almost exclusively quick play, no BTB and I gotta say it's pretty damn fun so far. Not without it's issues, definitely needs more maps and gamemodes, the ability to decide what gamemodes you want to play, some tweaks to the UI and of course, more ways to earn cosmetics besides paying for them(although I don't really care about cosmetics so eh). Overall though, in turns of the actual game itself, I'm having as much fun playing as when I was a kid playing 3 and reach with my friends online.
60 hours into Multiplayer playing almost exclusively BTB, with a lot of Fiesta when it was available. Its the best FPS PvP multiplayer ive played in my life.
Wait until you play ranked. I'm 1800+ in Onyx and went on a 12 game win streak with my team and went up all of 3 points, but the first game I lost I lost 15. It's been like this for the last week. Not to mention the game crashes still exist and you can roughly assume 1/5 matches will have someone disconnect. Super frustrating.

the Pulse Carbine actually fucking owns and shreds, it just has a highly restricted effective range - it really only works at medium range

@@sebastiansuazo2734 mhm once I figured this out I started using it more. I think the reason why most people dont know is because it looks a lot like the storm rifle which was short ranged.
Two bursts and a headshot with the pistol is one of my favorite combos in this game.

I've actually seen most other people praise the open world since it allows freedom in how you approach enemies. Theres also some insanely hidden collectibles on giant structures if you take the time to grapple up them.

It’s definitely a different type of open world.
Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best games ever and it’s open world is empty aside from the bosses. I’m not saying Infinite is on that level (I haven’t even played it) but I also think that it’s okay for an open world to be barren as long as the actual world is interesting and inviting to explore which I feel is the case here.
Don't forget that a lot of the reviews praise thing that don't got a lot of importance

The multiplayer is all I've really cared about for the longest time and in that sense I think Halo Infinite slaps
So. Personally, I just wanted Halo infinite to blend in the Halo wars experience of gaining ground and unlocking upgrades with purpose, helping to defend areas. Would love to see an update that lets marine squads fight outposts or you can meet up with some that is planning to attack an area, even give you some suggestions on what to attack and more! Something that gives the military aspect of the game a bit of respect!

They’re also the things that’ll keep the game alive even though most people will hate it. The player base will dwindle but the money coming in from the dedicated players buying skins and armor will be more than enough to turn a huge profit no matter what happens
To unlock everything in Season 1, and assuming you have the season bundle, you would need to play the game every day and level up every day for 100 days straight. Granted, you get a guaranteed 1000XP (which is a full level) for the first 6 matches of the day and some of the Challenges are generous with their XP payouts, but that's still at least ~600 matches you need to play *just* for Season 1. With each match ending at around 10 minutes, that's over 100 hours required. The fact that they expect that we do this all over again for Season 2 is crazy.

I've seen a few other reviews saying they didn't like the story or characters, and a few saying infinite's open world is very good and adds a lot. But one thing remains consistent, everyone likes it. It's not perfect, it's no masterpiece, but everyone is enjoying it. I think that's all halo needed, just a good game that has some strong points, and is a lot of fun to play.

@@mitchellp7739 I feel like part of it is just that the originals came out when we were kids and didn't spend half our time on the internet seeing what other people think about games. I'm not the biggest Halo fan and never have been but people put way too much weight on what the online community thinks about games versus what the game actually is. If one of the OG Halos came out today I guarantee reviews would still be relatively mixed in comment sections. IMHO it's best to just glance at the critic review consensus (usually less biased) and give it a try if it's interesting to you.

RE: Threat Sensor, I didn't understand until playing through the campaign that it's designed as a hard counter to the active camo. So it has limited usefulness, but within its niche (also good for watching objectives i.e. CTF) it's very powerful

I've found a good use for it in Fiesta(since that's the main non-btb mode you can get it in). It's good for scouting around corners if you have a melee weapon or even just flushing people out since you know when you're visible on one
I'm starting to think that Charlie just doesn't like open world games in general.
It seems to be a common practice now to over impose the cash shop, so when people complain they dial it back a little, but it's still worse then it was with the previous installment. I am glad you are being critical of their micro transactions.
Just wanted to share that I disagree with your opinion on the open world.. and this is coming from someone who played CE day 1. This game captured a lot of the mystique and lure of CE. Grab some marines… grab some guns, jump in headfirst and don’t stop shooting.
Agree 100% on forerunner structure levels though. Beautiful and mysterious… but a lot of rinse and repeat

343 was so quick to speed up progression and add queues other than quick play. They're listening to their community, and for that reason I believe that halo infinite will be around for a long while.
That’s true, but you cant ignore that fact that 343 actually has bozos making these terrible decisions with the game. If they dont fire those people then they will probably be in trouble.
I wish they added more diversity in the map like swamps jungles deserts snowy lands etc that way we won't feel bored

My biggest complaint is quite honestly the incessant use of grenades in multiplayer

Absolutely a step in the right direction. 343 are innovating and improving on gameplay while still respecting and maintaining halos core roots- without turning into cod in space.
I hated halo 5's weapon designs but the banished weapons look sweet in halo infinite. And I'm glad to see they are using stuff from halo wars 1 and 2. Love those games.

I’ve never had a problem with microtransactions as long as they’re only cosmetic. The only problem is there’s not really anything to unlock outside of the battle pass and campaign. It could be way worse tbh.
the main issue is how much they cost. One whole armor set is 20 dollars which is ridiculous, the bp is great though especially since you keep it forever
@@Dizeased nah, the cost is fine compared to most other games. It’s only cosmetic. Now if you could buy something like special load outs to start games with or something like that, then that would be an actual issue. Or of course P2W loot boxes.
So fact about the pulse carbine, It's a long range weapon, The lock on gets stronger and the projectiles get faster the further you are, They still miss like 30% of the time but at least you can actually hit and it one bursts shields.
Correction, medium range, since the tracking fails at both close and long, but is very strong in the middle (unless the user strafes randomly enough, which often just entirely breaks the tracking sadly)
I wish there were more exotic areas to explore on the map, like maybe some snowy areas or sand areas. Love the campaign but it just feels a little one dimensional with the setting.
One thing I really wish the open world had was more biomes. Back in 2018 I could’ve sworn they had like deserts and snowy terrains in the trailer. Maybe I’m wrong but I wish there was more scenery other than forests and forerunner structures, a CE ring style.

Halo Infinite is a genuinely great game so far, but what's holding back the multiplayer for me and a lot of people is the progression system and the predatory microtransactions. We all know that extra content and game modes will be added soon, but as of right now, it looks as if the progression system is here to stay.
To unlocked everything from season 1, I would first need to buy the battle-pass and then I would have to play the game every day for 100 days hoping I unlock a full level each day. Back when you only got 50XP per match, and needed 1000XP to level up, you'd need to play 20 matches a day, or over 2,000 matches in total! Granted, the challenges add progression points and the current bonus XP where the first 6 matches gives you a guaranteed 1000 XP helps... but damn... it's still ridiculous that they expect you to play *THAT* much just to unlock the color Grey or Master Chief's helmet, but hey... 600 matches is better than 2,000 matches right? I currently have 36 hours in the multiplayer and I only reached like level 27. Granted, a good chunk of that was way before the XP / challenge changes, but it's still ridiculous. This isn't even including those quick events that only last about a week and can have an extra 25+ levels. It forces people who work full-time or just play casually to either fork over the cash, play for months on end just to get some basic cosmetics, or just completely miss out on some nostalgic / favorite armor pieces because of how bad the system is right now. Oh, and this is only for the first season... so basically, whenever the next season hits, I'm gonna have to do this all over again. Plus, they want $20 for an armor set that doesn't add anything other cosmetics... Seriously?
I'm hopeful it'll all change, but as of now? Yikes...
I for one agree 100% with the open world stuff. Not every game needs it, and when developers decide to use it, it should be GOOD.
I’m usually not that into open world games but I personally think it’s pretty fun in Halo Intinite. It just feels like a massive halo sandbox to mess around in, but there are still the more linear story missions too.

As much as we were all hoping for a new legendary title that would become and instant classic to refresh our taste in Halo after H5, I gotta say, I'm just overwhelmingly happy that we got a good, fun, well developed addition to the franchise that innovated new ideas.
Halo Infinite is so close to being my perfect Halo game- if the open world segments were a bit tighter, had more things to do, and better integrated into the linear segments (ie things you do in the open world should have more impact on the story) it would be much closer. Honestly to me the main missions never even felt that repetitive even with them mostly taking place in the forerunner hallways, because the enemy composition was unique each encounter and it never felt like a slog.
That would be a cool idea, more map control means you could call more UNSC reinforcements or support in the missions.
I was worried about the open world aspect of halo infinite. I love the structured level design for halos campaigns but this game luckily doesn’t take that away but it also appeases my need for exploring. I thought it was perfect with its mix between open world and guided levels

Didn't play much halo back in the day, but when i played this game it was surprisingly fun and exciting. Yes it has it's quirks but is definitely worth a play for people who want a nostalgia kick or new players just wanting something to play.

im actually really enjoying the campaign. with the new movement mechanics there is so much you can do and on higher difficulty it can get pretty intense sometimes. huge improvement on the last 2 games for sure. they did great

I was really confused by some of the bizarre takes Gmanlives had in his review, and you and ACG have confirmed it: Gmanlives doesn't like or even really understand Halo, and it shows in his review. At one point he complained about how they keep using the same song throughout the series... The theme....
I'm not just coming down on him, but since I won't be able to get my hands on this game for a while, all I have to go off of is my experience and knowledge of Halo (it is depressingly vast), what I've seen of the game, and those three reviews, which includes this.
So when his review was the first one I watched (I don't know why, he's not exactly my go-to for top tier quality reviews) I was confused to hear him complain about things that really aren't a problem in Halo, or that have been a part of the series from the start for a reason.
Glad to hear the game is about what I expected. A great step up, but nothing that's going to topple the experience of 1, 2, 3 or reach

I disagree on what you think of the open world. I was stunned when I got to it and it looks amazing. I appreciate the ability to run around and see the world of zeta. It’s awesome to have open world AND linear in the same game. It can only get better from here.
It might not be the best in regards to open world activities, but it’s a great start and like I said it’s just cool to have that kind of freedom in halo.
i really liked the open world because it provides more freedom to tackle the missions in whatever way you saw fit, rather than the traditional halo approach of funneling you into an area and having you shoot your way through. typically whenever i play halo on heroic or higher, i have to leave cover to progress and have my shields melted by plasma weapons just in time for the sniper to dome me and deplete what little health i had left, in a matter of seconds. with the open world and FOB mechanics combined, i can approach an objective with a marine fireteam however i see fit with a loadout i know how to use effectively, and neutralize the base without the constant respawns. it doesn't entirely remove the difficulty too. i have to think about my actions and carry them out successfully, but i'm not cowering behind a wall the whole time. i feel it puts the player more in control of those master chief moments we've so far only been able to witness in cutscenes, which for me made the game a lot more fun to play
Halo infinite should not have been marketed as an "open world" game because It really isn't. All they did was make regular halo missions with a more open ended design and some bonus stuff to do if you want, and it's actually really cool to see them embracing this type of design. The main problem is that most missions feel the same, because for the most part they are the same. The levels are also designed specifically for the grapplehook, which is fine, however it makes vehicles pretty useless and the game ends up feeling more like borderlands than Halo. Overall the game is great, just needs more level variety.
Glad to hear the campaign was great this time around. About the multiplayer I do think it’s a lot of fun but yes they do need to add more content/ playlists, the progression needs work, and the micro transactions DEFINITELY needs some work
I mainly just want a real level system that’s seperate to the battle pass, cod did the same thing and it sucks, I miss real level system
