Ahh the days of the forage harvester. I used to love watching them work, then seeing them left in our local fields. When I was a kid, I thought they were some big scary monster. Sometimes I remember the farmers would leave them in a field so long unused, that the grass started growing again where they had cut, but they still hadn't finished cutting the field yet. So there was all this area of long grass and short green grass. I was always fascinated how they cut the long grass so perfectly down to a short length and with seemingly little effort compared to a garden lawn mower. Of course later on when I had more understanding of how tractors worked and agricultural engineering generally, I then knew how they did it so well.
This kind of brings back memories of my late grandmother toiling the soil on her small farm in Co Monaghan back in the day , both my brother & myself holiday in a a Place called Keenerboys Culloville Co Monaghan 1969 -1973 happy days.
My uncle Jack Tierney hadthis exact outfit around 1970 in milltown just outside Tuam Co Galway great memories but they are all long gone now im afraid I still love the stone walls
I've just treated myself to a new white shirt and waist coat for the young lads communion and here's a lad wearing that same type rig out spreading molasses on a silage pit with a watering can!! 😂😂😂 Different times!!!
@@masseydriverb3582 The DB 990 Implematic was produced up until 1965, was colored Red & Yellow and was replaced by the DB 990 Selectamatic which was colored Orchid White and Chocolate Brown. There was also a DB 990 Selectamatic produced from 1972 with the colors Red & White and these continued to be produced until 1977.
My goodness that's the first time I've seen this clip in over 50 years that's my late father putting the molasses on 😂 hughie mc elvaney is the man on the buckrake and the late shamus mc cullagh is on the harvester the video was taken by the late hughie mc Kearney i think it's 1967 is the year 😮 them were the good old days 😂😂

The Old one’s are the best one’s 👍👍👍👍
Good upload, nice to see that old machinery working.
Reminds me of our days cutting silage at home and out on hire with 2 david browns and a Ford 300
no such tractor as a ford 300
Does anyone know who's farm it is?? Serious plant back in the day 💪🚜
love the music as well as the machinery
The David browns were great tractors on the PTO AND HENCE VERY POPULAR for cutting silage , they were lowly geared too

may i ask why is this age restricted
Where does it state that????
Old tractors can be exciting...
Serious stuff
No pick up hitches on the David's
Pin a lot better
Not
It quite obviously has a pickup hitch, just because its a clevis makes no difference
