I just love watching this video. I used to see these trains going by on the Whifflet line. Double headed 37s with 46 HAAs or 21 PTAs. Sad to see it's all gone now, Its just boring EMUs that pass nowadays.

This is heading for Ravenscraig and I remember they added a 3rd loco for the climb up to the line for Holytown.

Love to hear the EE diesels giving it large. Was this working used to send locos for overhaul?

46 hoppers in total - normally seen in a rake of between 20 and 30 MGRs with one loco, anyone seen any longer MGR rakes than this on youtube or real life even

David Pearson normal power station mgr rakes with a type 5 was 36 wagons, some workings were 44. Only shorter working were single class 26 such as Blindwells in Edinburgh

I used to watch class 37's hauling MGR coal from Sherwood colliery in the1970s and lost count at 40 wagons. I assume they were going to Ratcliffe power station

Hello are you able to get any videos of steel mills and associated rail traffic? I am modelling a steel mill and need some good video to get inspiration. Cheers

This video is included in the Modern Traction Archive DVD series - details here www.linesidevideos.co.uk/epages/Store3_Shop2031.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Store3.Shop2031/Categories/UK_Modern_Traction that are produced by Lineside Video Productions. As well as this the series also includes hundreds of other train shots from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Mainly trains, but there are some shots of distant works etc, but not specifically inside. For train consists - it's an ideal series.

I suspect a "staging" movement, none of those locos should have slow speed control.

Nigel Terry Following and accident caused by a 3rd loco banking the train, they utilised triple heads for the Mossend to Ravenscraig traffic.
