Do yourself a favor and avoid the brand he uses. The only meat in it is Beef salivary glands and fat. Don't believe me? Look up a picture of the ingredients on the packaging.

Problem is Taco Bell has taken everything off their menu that I liked and replaced them with items I don't. So no more runs for the broader for me. A lot of people I know think the same way.

Taco Bell is absolutely hideous! Ever since Yum! Brands took them over they started going downhill and kept getting worse and worse. Same with KFC and Pizza Hut. All three were better in the 1970s and 1980s.
I have been making this since it went away. The Taco bell sauce is equal parts enchilada sauce and chunky salsa. I use the Herdez chunky salsa and it's so good!
Herdez is a great brand. They make several types of salsa. Know how fresh salsa made from scratch tastes better after it has set several hours or overnight? That is called maceration. If you are in a rush, add a small can of Herdez Salsa Cesara... it will act as a "starter" to macerate your fresh salsa faster.
As someone who use to work for taco bell you sir have made me proud 😭 any youngsters who decide to work there just 2 things get ready for them rushes and also don't let them screw you over they're big on that 😱
I’m definitely gonna make this. I forgot that they removed it from their menu and tried to order one a few weeks ago. They also removed my absolute fav, Beef Meximelt. But an employee told me about a work around for it and that’s a cheesy roll up-add: beef, pico. The plus side is now it’s cheaper ordering it that way. That’s a little secret for anyone else that loves them and misses them.

Basically, they got rid of anything and everything that was good, besides the normal hard-shell and soft tacos. They've reduced the ground beef in their tacos and burritos by half. There is basically no reason for me to go to Taco Bell anymore, particularly since they have no plans on reopening their dining rooms, and I like to eat my food freshly made, at a table, like a civilized human being.

Years ago, I was an assistant Mgr at a tb. So, I got to eat for free when working. I once made a giant Mexican pizza, replaced the ground beef with steak from the steak soft tacos, used the burrito tortillas, added sour cream and guac. I was on break eating and a customer walks in says I don't care what it costs I want that! So, the cashier rings it up as Mexican pizza plus and minus everything... $23 lol and I can confirm, they are crispy when fresh but go soft fast.
I worked at good old Mac D's. My employees invented a Sunday that cost about $8 after their 50% discount. They called it a million dollar Sunday and it was vanilla ice cream served in a medium cup over a fresh baked pie, layered with every sunday and flurry topping we had.
I worked at Hardee's and my concoction that was fire was toasting up a Frisco bun, a Hot Ham and Cheese on the top bread, quarter pound patty on bottom, pickles and xtra bacon. All the employees on my shift loved it just as much as I.

The Taco Bell Mexican pizza was, for me, a substitute for one I grew up having in S. Cali a million years ago. The place was called La Plaza and was in Fountain Valley. Theirs were huge like yours and amazing. The only things this one is missing are a few sliced black olives and a scoop of guac thrown on top after broiling. Thank you for taking me way back. I have to make this now. :)
Complexity and time to assemble is one of the major reasons major fast food chains cut menu items. I use to love getting the Mexican pizza and the 7 layer burrito.
I totally agree, the pizza is all I ever got and haven’t been back since. It’s been something like 18 years since I’ve been. I live in a Hispanic dense area so we have a plethora of good Mexican/Puerto Rican/Salvadoran and everything else food, no need for Taco Smell.
Next time put the entire thing on the scale, hit zeroize, when you remove the pizza, a negative weight will be displayed on the scale (drop the minus symbol) . Weight the tray by itself. subtract. BINGO
That's what I was thinking too. Sometimes though I think if they go too far negative they error out or at least don't show right until you get back to a weight it is expecting.
I used to love the Mexican pizzas from Taco Bell when I was younger; back then they had more stuff on them (e.g., black olives, sour cream, onion). After they got super-cheap I started making them at home and have tried several variations with different sauces. I've never added chorizo, though, and will definitely have to try that in one of my future trials. Great job, Sam! This looks really good.
I'm sure it's really tasty. My problem is, every time I search for a copycat for something I like from a restaurant, everybody that has one always insists on "only better." Sometimes I don't want better, I want as close as possible to what I would get at the restaurant. If I had the restaurant available where I live, I wouldn't be making it myself. The hope is always that somebody will put their effort into making it the same... but they never do.

Wife and I love your show! We make something you have on here at least once a week. Definitely going to make this. With respect to weighing it, We always reverse weigh things when they are too big to view the scale. In other words, put the big platter on and Z out your scale. then take the platter back off and you will have the negative weight of what was removed. Just a idea. Thanks for all you do!
That looks pretty tasty. I would’ve worked a little bit of cilantro in there somewhere, but using the chorizo with the beef was brilliant. There are so many options too. A little Spanish rice in there would’ve been nice, maybe even some shredded lettuce to kind of lighten it up. Looks great.

Every time I go to Chick-fil-A there's two lines of cars wrapped around the building while Taco Bell right next door has maybe three cars. Then as soon as chick-fil-a closes that line is full until like 2 a.m.

Taco Bell has been dead to me since they discontinued the Mexican pizza and grilled stuffed burrito. What makes this even more cruel is knowing I can’t even run out and get this right now like I used to!
You can still get the double deckers. Just specifically ask for a crunchy taco and add a flour tortilla and beans wrapped around it. Sure the tortilla and the beans cost a little extra but that's how the double deckers are made.
As of some time recently (around June 2022), it's back on the menu in Birmingham Alabama because I have a 63 yr old neighbor who buy them regularly and loves them. This is not a channel that I watch but I saw the title Taco Pizza and thought I'd check it out. She looks for quick and easy food so it wouldn't make sense to show her this video.🙂

I am a religious watcher of your channel and the Son's Of Sam channel. When the pandemic hit, I learned to cook food better by watching your channel's. And you won't believe how better I've become at cooking since. That being said, Can you make your versions of some Taco Bell foods? If you want to make awesome taco meat. 1 teaspoon half onion powder half cumin. 1 ts smoked paprika and 1 Chile powder. Cook bacon crisp then pulverize the bacon with the other ingredients fry half an onion translucent then add 1 pound of beef fry until the red is gone at the seasoning which will help dry and darken it when it starts to stick and darken throw in some bean juice from cooking beans instead of stock or anything. Then season to taste with garlic salt. This is the original most professional culinarian taco meat recipe. You want a trimming so rib flank and chuck steak for the meat as lean as possible. It's not oily and the fat makes it greasy.
Maybe he got the spanish wrong. It's a common english chef/foodie saying...fat is flavor...or...fat equals flavor. So he has an english shirt that says "If fat is flavor, I'm fucking delicious." I think that's what he was going for, but in spanish. Not "I'm a delicacy."

They were selling a lot of the Caramel Apple Empanada... they took it off the menu. Apparently because it took too long to cook. I'll never forgive Taco Bell for removing it.

When I was a kid, going to Taco Bell was a treat in the afternoon time. They'd be cooking fresh ground beef in a massive pot with their seasoning mix and it would smell AWESOME. Today's ground beef is a "powdered Mix" that they add water to and heat up. If it has dehydrated beef, I guess they can call it beef, but it definitely does not taste as good as the old days.

I think I heard recently it's coming back. My mom had a version in the 70s I try to make whenever I can. Double decker tortillas, beans, cheese, lettuce on the top layer with sour cream and olives.
One of the first things they took off the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza was the Black Olives. Then the Sour Cream and Guac. Any Mexican Pizza demands all of those, but this was great!

If you want the best mexican chorizo, the brand is Chorizo de San Manuel. They sell millions of pounds a year, mostly in Texas and several surrounding states and as far north as Colorado. I believe that ship it out as well.

Taco Bell inside the local mall by my house when I was a senior in high school in 1993 was my first job. Back then here in Missouri the mexican pizza's came with both diced tomatoes & green onions and 1 olive placed in the center then it would get placed in the steamer👍🏾
I worked at Taco Bell when it came out as the "Pizzaz" Pizza. it had 4 olives. One on each "slice" basically. The item with 1 olive was the Tostada. The Enchirito had 3. They were very specific about olive amounts back then and then took them completely out of the fixings for some reason. and then switched to freeze dried beans they use today.
The knife game with the hand is called mumbly peg. You do a few shots first, eat one of your delicious Mexican pizzas and play the game , hoping you have all your fingers at the end . If not , at least you got to eat a great looking Mexican pizza!
If you want to call it a tostada-pizza, or a tostada-carne-nacho-dilla...or something like that...I know what you're getting at. But, a tostada is just one shell on the bottom, like one large single nacho...not layered with 2 layers of crunchy, with different stuff inside and on top.

Wife and I love your show! We make something you have on here at least once a week. Definitely going to make this. With respect to weighing it, We always reverse weigh things when they are too big to view the scale. In other words, put the big platter on and Z out your scale. then take the platter back off and you will have the negative weight of what was removed. Just a idea. Thanks for all you do!

The Mexican Pizza was my absolute favorite! It was crispy, if you got a good one, but it didn’t have 10lbs of beans and meat.
That looks pretty tasty. I would’ve worked a little bit of cilantro in there somewhere, but using the chorizo with the beef was brilliant.
There are so many options too. A little Spanish rice in there would’ve been nice, maybe even some shredded lettuce to kind of lighten it up. Looks great.

I spent a decent part of my life working in high-end restaurants. The Taco Bell Mexican Pizza is a culinary masterpiece.
Taco Bell has been dead to me since they discontinued the Mexican pizza and grilled stuffed burrito.

You can still get the double deckers. Just specifically ask for a crunchy taco and add a flour tortilla and beans wrapped around it. Sure the tortilla and the beans cost a little extra but that's how the double deckers are made.

As of some time recently (around June 2022), it's back on the menu in Birmingham Alabama because I have a 63 yr old neighbor who buy them regularly and loves them. This is not a channel that I watch but I saw the title Taco Pizza and thought I'd check it out. She looks for quick and easy food so it wouldn't make sense to show her this video.🙂

And you won't believe how better I've become at cooking since. That being said, Can you make your versions of some Taco Bell foods? Such as the Meximelt, Burrito Supreme, Encherito, Classic tacos, quesadillas and others? Perhaps, you could make an entire video of it. Thanks again for the videos and helping me cook better foods
If you want to make awesome taco meat. 1 teaspoon half onion powder half cumin. 1 ts smoked paprika and 1 Chile powder. Cook bacon crisp then pulverize the bacon with the other ingredients fry half an onion translucent then add 1 pound of beef fry until the red is gone at the seasoning which will help dry and darken it when it starts to stick and darken throw in some bean juice from cooking beans instead of stock or anything. Then season to taste with garlic salt. This is the original most professional culinarian taco meat recipe. You want a trimming so rib flank and chuck steak for the meat as lean as possible. It's not oily and the fat makes it greasy.

They were selling a lot of the Caramel Apple Empanada... they took it off the menu. Apparently because it took too long to cook. I'll never forgive Taco Bell for removing it.
They took off just about everything I ate off the Taco Bell 🔔 menu. I loved the taco salad (that bowl was the best), caramel apple empanada, the naked chicken taco shells & nachos.
Those were always my favorite when I worked there because they would always have a bunch of extra at the end of the night 😂
They probably took it off the menu since they closed the dining area for covid. you cant eat that pizza in a car without ending up in a ditch.

When I was a kid, going to Taco Bell was a treat in the afternoon time. They'd be cooking fresh ground beef in a massive pot with their seasoning mix and it would smell AWESOME. Today's ground beef is a "powdered Mix" that they add water to and heat up. If it has dehydrated beef, I guess they can call it beef, but it definitely does not taste as good as the old days.

If you want the best mexican chorizo, the brand is Chorizo de San Manuel. They sell millions of pounds a year, mostly in Texas and several surrounding states and as far north as Colorado. I believe that ship it out as well.

Taco Bell inside the local mall by my house when I was a senior in high school in 1993 was my first job. Back then here in Missouri the mexican pizza's came with both diced tomatoes & green onions and 1 olive placed in the center then it would get placed in the steamer👍🏾
Yep, the steamer pizza oven. It would only take a few seconds to cook it.
I worked at Taco Bell when it came out as the "Pizzaz" Pizza. it had 4 olives. One on each "slice" basically. The item with 1 olive was the Tostada. The Enchirito had 3. They were very specific about olive amounts back then and then took them completely out of the fixings for some reason. and then switched to freeze dried beans they use today.
I NEEDED this in my life!!!! Haven’t eaten at Taco Bell since it left the menu 😢

If you want to call it a tostada-pizza, or a tostada-carne-nacho-dilla...or something like that...I know what you're getting at. But, a tostada is just one shell on the bottom, like one large single nacho...not layered with 2 layers of crunchy, with different stuff inside and on top.
