Never forget seeing this live on swedish TV. Fantastic game of football, incredible atmosphere, non-stop action for 90 minutes. Ipswich won the replay 1-0, thanks to a goal by Arnold Muhren.
Yes it SHOULD have been the cup final Ipswich were the best team in the country (beat Aston Villa three times that year now given bigger squads and time gaps they would have won the treble (like Leeds would have in 1970) Also for some strange reason England chose between Mariner and Francis Quite ridiculous They would have complimented each other perfectly as the two best Strikers around Great game and I remember it well! Fair result too!
@@christophercorbett5074 i was talking about the latter stages of his career..esp. the 1990 wc . A younger springier keeper couldve got us to the final.
Maybe so The 1981 classic quarter final unaffected though It was ironic it was the second time that happened to Ipswich drawing the other best team left in the last eight Same with a marathon against Leeds in 1975 All in spite of a fine overachieving season now rather ironic given our total humiliation by little Maidstone! Good luck to Forest for the rest of the season Hope you stay up we go up and the ghosts of Brian Clough and Bobby Robson can smile down on a top flight match up next year!
Was in the Ipswich end as a 13y old at this game, and still got season ticket at PR

Notts forrest seemed to have undergone huge changes in personnel only a year after 1980 Euro triumph..?

Have stopped doing DVDs
8000 Ipswich?
Looks like 40,000 fans or more packed like sardines
I was there.. one of the best games ever attended. What a line up from both teams..
Shilton, so leaden.
Don't get that I am an Ipswich fan since 1971 and after Gordon Banks Peter Shilton was the best keeper I ever saw play
