I always loved Mountain. Felix Papalardi’s soft melodic voice paired with Leslie West’s hard rock blues singing. What a great contrast!!! A bad ass guitar player with a great sense of humor. Loved him in West, Bruce, and Laing; as well as his solo work. Rest in peace, Leslie,Felix & Jack Bruce. You are missed.
John , your listening to something completely different to me. I'm only 18 but have been a fan of leslie and Mountain from a very young age and I tell you what, I really enjoyed this. The guy just oozes class. Vibrato and tone like no other. Was in NYC in August and visited BB Kings and I brought some of the posters advertising this gig back home. Would loved to have been there. What a guy !!!!
kick ass concert from the mountain frontman and kick ass guitar player leslie west one of rock's best ever people. love this guy he still has it now this was last year just wow. go leslie you legend.
I was there, if you notice Leslie kept calling the sound guy over, he was really pissed at the sound, i know Leslie a little from the Bronx, he is the master, have seen him a dozen or so times, back with Mountain, them West Bruce & Lang . Just one of the best
Oh, very nice, S Juhal! I've been waiting for some footage of Leslie's latest gig at B.B. King's! Nice video and audio....what a treat! Thanks for sharing!
I attended a concert with them in 1969 on the lawn at Connecticut College, Rt. 32, in New London, CT. I was 19 at the time...BUT...it only cost 75 cents to show. I've seen them in New York City and another or 2 venues. ...Chillin' then, Chillin' (me!) still! It was a loss when Felix transitioned! All-time Greats!!! ...ALL of 'em! One song that doesn't seem to get enough recognition here is "Silver Paper". ...jus' sayin'...all to enjoy! Heh! :-)
I agree with the below comment. I just listened to the Isle of Wight performance then I stumbled upon this video. Gotta say Leslie's playing has almost regressed back to his early days and I for one, LOVE IT. And on a lighter note, he's apparently also regressed back to his early days diet as well.
He’s a wicked! He toured all his life. He was comfortable not super rich but was ok. Look at his girl ! He lived and loved but he was one of the best ever and he really didn’t give a shit. He just wanted to rock! Keep on Rocking Leslie up there. Him and Jimmy is probably up there playing for Jesus. Man I just wish I coulda met him but I feel like I know him from seeing everything he’s done
Leslie West always amazed me with his tone.... I really tried all that I could to match it, but never could. I was even close to purchase one of the Train Wreck Head when he once said that he was using Marshall rewired as such. I bought a Steinberger GM1T when I saw him at the Night of the Guitars. Anyways, I love that he kept his humor.
Leslie I love your playing you will always be a master, but please forget those fucking pedals! The tone was and still is in your hands you just need a full overdriven amp and a 1 pickup guitar to make the magic!
Leslie is a master of the feedback harmonics... he's the one that started it and everyone followed. Today, she has the little boxes to raise the gain and add depth and warmth to his sound. Back in the day, he used a Tall Stack... wall of Marshalls, all on 10 with just an Ampeg Scrambler, a Big Muff, and a Morley volume pedal. Nothing else was needed with his Paul Jr.
The screenshot reminds me of when he was in the Tom Hanks movie, “The Money Pit.” Always loves Leslie, but the image made me think of “The Cheap Girls.”
Robin Trower plays his own Fender strat signature.........and for a while Robben Ford played his own Fender Signature axe which looked like a 70s Ibenez Artist series model....

+Malchik Blue I understand that. I am partially bed ridden do to a skeletal disease. I guess I didn't think before I opened my mouth. it was just a shock to see him like that.
John he sounds great. Its just that 40 years ago you were a youngster with stars in your eyes and leslie was a mountain of power. hes been through hell and back during this time and hes still rocking at almost 70 years old....
On the contrary, Mr Carney, Big Les is an inspiration to millions to this very day. Still gets them dreamin. Tone and vibrato still a slight few can match.

I never imagined I'd be bored by Leslie West.
+Flike Sadly, yes.
Everything has its time.

Great to see Leslie back and playing after losing his leg, a legend to the end!
thanks this is Great. he's still got that distinctive voice with chops to burn
Still amazing. Can't wait to see him when he plays out next!
His Gibson Junior and an over-driven amp is the magic LW sound. Nothing else compares IMO.
He he’s playing a Dean not a Jr.
@@lacyd51 Yes but in the early days of mountain he played the gibson jr

Forever a mountain fan and love the sound of the Great Fatsby! His sound has always been distinct, just as much as he is. Still rocking @67
Great artist! I love this song!
west has always been an inforcer of blues rock he's always been a bad ass ,as will
From a while back but great to see LW on stage again.

he is getting older, like we all do...but his voice is getting younger...
SADLY missing Leslie West......
Leslie could tear it up 🎸

Beautiful guitar intro to Theme -

+Mauro Samuel Agreed. He finally starts to sound more like himself at about 4:20, just when I was about to hit the back button.
+Mauro Samuel Yes sir, nothing beats pure raw and nasty overdrive.

Paying homage to Ritchie !!!!! Yes !👍
LEGEND

Genius!
Great strong voice, man.
More talent in his big toe than most of the pigswill which passes for music today...........
Also Thanks...Just wheres the rest of the gig.. I couldn"t make it, but great whats here Leslie playing GREAT!!!!!
GREAT!!!!
I think he's the only artist who actually plays his own signature guitar, awesome!
Robin Trower plays his own Fender strat signature.........and for a while Robben Ford played his own Fender Signature axe which looked like a 70s Ibenez Artist series model....
yeah forgot about Trower :)
More here than meets the ear. Good and chunky! Didnt Rondinelli play on Theme w/Jack Bruce?
that was not Rondinelli on theme, that was Joe franco
HB 10/22 to Leslie
ty
he could giv a shit N.Y. long island boy.......old style rok n roll...love it...hes good trust me....
Quit fiddling with the effects and play the thing! Go back to a Les Paul Jr and Sunn PA amp!
Hate to say it but i agree. Could this place handle a cranked Sunn??? Reality check.
Can the guy have a little fun, aint nothing wrong with the guitar or amp.

Ooops .whats wrong the the lead on Theme..!!! not good ..and i followed Leslie for so long used to try and get his sound ....... gave up
Jag är lessen att han är borta, vilka mjuka o behagliga låta det tog mej i HJÄRTAT när jag läste att han är borta😎
this drummer is no corky laing
He's a good drummer though, Bobby Rondinelli
The drummers eating his dinner while Leslie is warming up.
wow, Leslie melting the camera @8:40
Nothing worse than being so preoccupied with pedals instead of playing your best.
Get a life !
Where be da L.W. Sig/Buddah's???
sad he's put the weight back on.
+Malchik Blue I understand that. I am partially bed ridden do to a skeletal disease. I guess I didn't think before I opened my mouth. it was just a shock to see him like that.
He was good 40 years ago, now not so much.
Lets see how good you are when you're 68 as Leslie
John he sounds great. Its just that 40 years ago you were a youngster with stars in your eyes and leslie was a mountain of power. hes been through hell and back during this time and hes still rocking at almost 70 years old....
On the contrary, Mr Carney, Big Les is an inspiration to millions to this very day. Still gets them dreamin. Tone and vibrato still a slight few can match.
And how fuck'n good are you at things you did 40 years ago?
Wrong, he's better.
named my cat Westy
Not really down with the midi stuff. Kinda boring actually. Just play guitar Leslie, it's what you do best.
show strong best maravilha drink a beer
Ha... the bass player is trying to steal the show with his silly overhand style.
+PlanetRockJesus He's no Mark Clarke...
tune that guitar...
He looks like an old Jewish lady
Rev Jones is a clown...
His sound sucks.. thumbs down I hear the guy down the street playing his sound is better...
