I love the video! This was extremely informative, well formatted, and definitely my go-to video to send to friends learning to play! Quick question on the Block Phase: You fail a block @18:43, and a note pops up that "failing a block doesn't stop you from trying to block again". I had always understood that if the Defender did not try to Block or failed the Check to play their Block, then the Attack is not blocked and the Defender does not get to try again. A Defender may only try to Block once per Attack, but they can still try to Block on other Attacks. Is this what you meant, or have I been playing wrong? 💀💀💀
Yeah I probably didn’t word that the best way. If you fail a block, you can’t try to block the same attack again. But you aren’t locked out of trying to block future attacks! I’m really glad you found this as helpful as you did, and appreciate the kind words.
@@TheChamberTCGAmazing! Thank you for the clarification. I think you worded it fine, I just misunderstood. Thank you again for the content and I look forward to your future videos! 🫡
I just found put about this game yesterday with the Godzilla set and ordered the 2 starters. This video was very very helpful!! I'll be referring back once they come in the mail 😁
You are amazing! i run a LGS and it took me several videos, a forums, the facebook group with more before i landed on clear communication for blocking here
I’m really glad this was able to help! I tend to be very intermittent (my real life is quite busy), but there will be more to this series soon to help new players! Welcome to the game!
this was a huge help thanks. if you're going to do a part 2 i think the biggest thing i would like to know would be the following what dose stun do what are the symbols on the bottom of the card what are the keywords like throw and kick do?
I’m a magic player myself and play Pokémon with my son, he picked up the my hero academia set with 2 decks trying to learn it to teach my son this is very helpful!
I think I’m getting the rules, gotta be honest with you, I feel a little overwhelmed with all of the new concepts hahahaha. But coming from MASTERS has prepared my brain to deal with complex rules. Thanks for the lesson, hope to watch some gameplays even get some games with you recorded one day.
UniVersus has a little bit more going on than a lot of other card games. My advice would be start by understanding how playing cards and making checks works first. Then work on understanding how attacks work, then start adding other details.
That's a good question! There's a community discord that people use often. It should be in my video description, but here's a link as well: discord.com/invite/universusccg
Was confused with one of the my hero cards. The cards name is late riser, which is a foundation. It has a response: after this card is discarded from your hand during the enhance step, this attack gets +1 or -2 speed. Is this ability something that the person holding it in hand would use or is it a response to your opponent making you discard cards from your hand. Or is it something completely different.
That card makes a little bit more sense in conjunction with Eraser Head 1. His primary gimmick was that he could discard a card from his hand to pick up an action called ERASE! from his discard pile, and then give the attack +/-2 speed. He could discard early riser and get a total of either +3 or -4 instead. He also had a lot of combo attacks, so it was useful for him in his stage too.
Also, still new to Universus but I’ve gotten a chance to look at a lot of the cards since posting my original question. I’ve have started to see that trend of cards abilities for a character play off each other quite well. Thinking about putting an Eraser head deck together.
@TheChamberMHA I had questions about how King Ghidoras life attributes. Like if I did 12 damage to it. Does it only lose a counter or does the 2 life damage carry over? Or Jean from from AOT, when you trigger his enhance about changing zones and adding +2 speed. TIA.
@ronthebeast the excess damage on Ghidorah is lost. In theory he’s 30 health, but the fact he has a speed bump at 20 and 10 means you usually have to do way, way more than 30. Jeans is just an enhance so you could do it during any enhance step, assuming you have the momentum to pay for the ability.
Great video. Just got into the game. Thanks. A question i had (haven't actually looked at the rules yet) when watching was.... that action card with the response. Could you pass enhance, your opponent passes enhance. Then play the action responding to their pass? I'm assuming yes.
That’s correct! And because both players passed enhances you would go to block. It’s a sneaky way to push an attack just out of a blockable range. Welcome to the game, and I’m glad you found it informative!
Just the mechanics like do I committ to use the enhance? Or does form committ your card and also what's is ranged slam and throw and EX or kick and stun
Good question! It depends on what format you’re playing. If you’re new to the game you’re most likely playing Standard or Draft, in which case no they cannot. In Retro format however, Turn 1 attacks are okay!
This is exactly what I was hoping someone would make.
And this is just the first part ;)
This man is doing God's work! thank you for an updated how to play!
Thank you for the kind words!
As someone returning to UniVersus this is exactly what I was looking for. Keep up the damn good work.
This might be the nicest compliment someone has ever given me, and it certainly is about content. Thank you man.
Thank you for making this video. This is the type of content that gets me wanting to get into a game.
This is the best video iv found explaining how to play, thanks a lot.
I was on the fence about playing this game. But thanks to this video I feel like I have a better understanding of the game
Amazing video, you explained everything clearly. Than you for your time and the effort you put into this video.

Thanks a lot for the video. Excited to try. Do committed cards ever untap and turn back vertical? Like how in Magic there is an untap step?
Yeah! It’s at 9:45, but short answer is yes. It’s called the Ready Step, and it’s identical to the Untap Step.

Excellent video. Is there a commonly used discord server or place to find players on TTS?

New to UNIVERSUS, this was much needed. Could you one for GODZILLA and AOT? There some text on the cards that are still confusing.
Which cards were confusing you? I have a couple things on AOT, but could see something dedicated too!

@TheChamberMHA thank you. New to the Universus since Gen Con. Wishing I had a way to learn all the card jargon..lol.

Part 2 when? Idk how to enchance or how to use my leader
I’ve been pretty busy, but I do need to make a part two.
In the mean time, what are you struggling with regarding enhances and/or your character?
Just the mechanics like do I committ to use the enhance? Or does form committ your card and also what's is ranged slam and throw and EX or kick and stun
where's part two!
Can the second player attack on their first turn?

I just want to know if cowboy bebop’s getting a booster box 😭😭😭 but no one knows
Where is part 2?
Coming ;)
