    "bad players need to win sometimes if they have to keep spending money on the game"
    very true. it's really hard to convince someone to keep playing a game if they keep losing (letting them win won't cut it as nobody will do that in a tournament setting). this is why we recommend mtg newbies play mono red aggro or mono green stompy decks because of how linear and sometimes win by surprise with little to no piloting skills.

    Sounds cool, hope it has a future. I'm especially intrigued by what can be described as "quick effects in Yugioh but with a resource system" Since cards that can be used on the opponent's turn still need to be payed for, there's incentive to not always use your entire mana supply in a single turn. It's not revolutionary, Magic does the same, but with a Duel Mastera style mana system, it should be even smoother.

    I like these "how to play (insert card game)" series. Do you think it would be good if you do a video for all the card games? Might attract a big audience.

  • @Narrativando

    The more competition within tcg ecosystem, the better.
    But I'm not totally sold yet. It seems like "magic with a gimmick", or more fittingly "duel masters with a gimmick"
    Not that can't be good... But maybe it's a safer move than doing something ultra different/unique. Familiarity can attract people. This plus the fact that will have an anime can be good for the game.
    Also... Dimension 0 video when? hehe

    Sounds pretty interesting! I'm actively playing two TCGs and follow a few others so I'm not starved for another one, but I'm definitely going to watch videos of Build Divide and hope for an English release. They only need to have one collab I'm super interested in and I'm immediately building atleast one deck.
    I'm surprised how "non-anime" most of the card arts are. I wonder how much the art styles clash when one person uses the normal cards and the other person uses anime collab cards.

    My issue with Busters is less that they could be worth their drawback and more that running 12 is mandatory. It really prevents the "high risk, high reward" angle they're pushing from landing cuz there's no choice here. It really Should have allowed players the freedom to choose any number between 0-12.

    • @goncaloferreira6429

      choice is not really an important word in games like this, not in the deckbuilding sense. they go more to a expression and feeling side of things.

    The buster-mechanic looks really interesting from a gameplay and balancing perspective. Having game-changing cards be not only limited to 12 copies per deck, but also have a risk associated with it having them in your life-zone sounds like a great risk-reward dynamic.
    I also really like the art I have seen so far. Kinda reminds me of earlier FoW and i loved that game until the company change.
    Any chance we are getting this in EU and NA? I don't really want to learn reading moon runes just to play it.

      A localization hasn't been announced, but it would be very weird for Aniplex to not already be planning one. Given the scale of their global operations--and the interests of their owner, Sony--it would be difficult for them to not succeed with one.

    Interesting, the mana system was always my favourite thing about duel masters so this certainly excites me, starting with 2 by default makes a lot of sense too, so many card games where you work your way up from 0 mana just have you doing nothing on your first turn cuz 1 cost units aren't good enough, until power creep sets in and 1 cost units are good enough so games generally end before you hit 5 mana or so, starting with 2 is a nice idea, I like it, a 40 card minimum deck size with 4 copies of a card per deck seems a bit suspect, 4 copies per deck is normal for decks that have 50+ cards, but for a 40 card deck 3 copies makes more sense imo, it makes for more general deck variety, quick effects are... something I tend to dislike, you'll be able to predict them cuz the opponent needs open mana like in MTG, but there's a general feeling of hesitation that tends to come from said open mana, which I know some people are a fan of, but I have a much greater rush when knowing my plays will go off uninterrupted, which can still exist in the game under the right circumstances, so... well I'd have to playtest to see, but it definitely sounds like something I may enjoy

But I'm talking about the health gimmick and the cards used as health have effects, it was in the original version from the early 2000s, it's a fun gimmick, I'm interested in how this tcg will play it, hopefully it doesn't have a rough launch in the west like the digimon tcg reboot did.

    That being said, this game seems a bit close to "Magic, but different" IMO (Mana, the entire combat system). It definitely has some interesting stuff going on though (territories, Red Life, starting with mana/counterplay options).
    Very interesting that this game might be the death of Weiss of all things.

      Yeah, it reminds me a bit of how Caster Chronicles and Force of Will both tried to be "MTG without the things you don't like about MTG"...at the time they performed pretty poorly overseas, but I think it was hard to sell Magic players on them.
      Build has a broader aesthetic appeal, and is coming at a time when enfranchised Magic players seem pretty upset at the game. (Well, this may be the understatement of the century.) So its position seems ripe for pulling those dissatisfied players away.

      @@lost-worlds MTG is bizarre man. Obviously I can't speak for all MTG players (because that'd be a completely inane thing to try to do), but in my corner of the planet they're very opposed to considering another card game being allowed to share a locals with their game, let alone try one out, and that's *in-spite* of current events.

Digimon Vs. DB Super (I still have no idea how big the competitive community for this is Vs. people just buying DBZ Merch) Vs. Wixoss (lol) Vs. A possible Build Divide).
      The over-saturation situation is a big problem too, since COVID still seems to be flaring up enough that large-scale tournaments in Europe/USA aren't feasible yet, which is bad for keeping a competitive community going.

    • @lost-worlds
      @lost-worlds  Рік тому

      It was good enough out the gate but the potential was squandered by the target audience, and at this point it's too late. Aniplex wasn't aiming high enough with Build: they sunk a lot into winning over the Z/X and Wixoss demographic, and they bet on the wrong horse--that audience is too small--while also losing that demo to other devs. The players they wanted in Japan weren't interested, and waited for Broccoli to announce Vividz instead. The game fell off hard after set 3, and there's much bigger competition out there today from titles like Shadowverse Evolve.
      In response, they tried to play up the collabs and pivot Build into a crossover-heavy TCG, but it's also too late for that. Every TCG has collabs now, Bandai's even coming in with Union Arena for that, and so Aniplex is stuck with a white elephant that costs too much to maintain but also costs even more to kill. At this point I don't see a localization happening because they're just trying to mitigate the damage back home in Japan, and internationally they have to worry about a strong Bandai crowding the market with Digimon, One Piece, and now Battle Spirits Saga (which Bandai's sinking a ton of money into promoting like they've never done before) plus the Cygames-Bushiroad alliance on Shadowverse Evolve, competing against Flesh & Blood and Metazoo, and Disney coming in next year with Lorcana...before Build can think about tangling with those names it has to first overcome the smaller games, and right now between EN Wixoss, Final Fantasy TCG, Dragon Ball Super, Force of Will, and Gate Ruler, there's a lot of established factions in play that want to maintain their grip on each shop's event schedule.
      Frankly, 2023's a terrible time to release anything and 2024 might be too. The market is too congested to support much more--shops can't fit all the games out there onto their calendars, and so they're forced to choose what events to run each week. Trying to get Build Divide going at a locals at this point would be repeating a lot of the ongoing pains with Gate Ruler or Vanguard. Anyone wanting to break into the EN market today is better off waiting to see how the Battle Spirits-Shadowverse-Lorcana war plays out, so they can be in a better position to launch after the bubble's popped and the market's consolidated down to a smaller number of games. Players are more willing to support new titles when they don't have many choices, and right now they have a dozen or so different options.

    Ok i like that effect chains are a thing but this feels a little too random to promote skill. Milling a chunk of your deck each turn to use as a resource is cool and that ace turning the gy into a second hand just screams interesting play but if the cards themselves don’t float and the same thing milling is just as likely to nuke your own field as it is to set up your playmaker with no way to specifically mill cards how exactly do you get good at this game and not just lucky?

    • @blanahaha
      @blanahaha 2 роки тому

      The skill seems to be similar to vanguard in terms of offence. Specifically limit break era, where it's about knowing when and how much pressure to apply. Because of life triggers and the red zone buffing those triggers further. In vanguard their were really powerful effects(limit breaks) you could only activate once you've take a certian amount of damage (most cases it was 4 damage). So it led to a situation where you would purposely stop attacking after dealing 3 damage, so they wouldn't be able to use the powerful limit break effect. Also it has mtg blocking so knowing when and wat units to block/block with is a skill factor as well.

    Getting kinda tired of all the "Magic the gathering BUT" card games that keep coming out. Was Universal Fighting System the last "New" card game?

    • @lost-worlds
      @lost-worlds  3 роки тому +2

      No, not at all...since UFS there's been at least Kingdom Hearts, Weiss Schwarz, Victory Spark, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Z/X, Wixoss, Buddyfight, Luck & Logic, Fire Emblem Cipher, Dragoborne, Rebirth For You, Gate Ruler, and Flesh & Blood, and those are only the ones I can remember off the top of my head. It's just that only 8 (soon to be 9) of them have been released in English, and of those only 5 are still going. It's very difficult for new games to survive in the North American and European markets, they generally need big backers to thrive, and even established companies like FFG and Bushiroad fail all the time with these games. We're getting Wixoss in English in two months and the general consensus is that it's gonna be dead on arrival.

      @@lost-worlds You're missing my point. I'm not super familiar with all those games, but Fire Emblem Cipher is basically just Magic but with a different life system and fewer card types, Dragoborne is just magic with different card types, and Flesh and Blood is just UFS without the foundations.
      In terms of games that actually offer an entirely different game rather than a pre-existing game with slight differences, there's magic, netrunner, pokemon, doomtown/monster collection, UFS... and that's about it? Most games that have come out since the early 2000's fall into one of those categories pretty cleanly.

      They're in Red. Booster 1's Red support is split between Badratos' dragons and Lionel's beastmen.

    Is build divide coming to us?

    • @lost-worlds
      @lost-worlds  2 роки тому

      Aniplex has neither confirmed not denied that it's coming, but they did strike a deal with Crunchyroll to get the anime simulcast, and they got Build Divide in the English UA-cam Gaming database way before its Japanese launch. That suggests they want to go global with it.

      No, that's Nakamoto, not Nakamura. The bitcoin creator's name is almost certainly a pseudonym--I doubt he's actually Japanese, considering he's only published and posted messages in English.

    I don't like this game that much. The game may be balanced, but the mechanics are not something so special and original and the artwork is kind of cheap and generic and way to different from a card to another, nothing special that stands out from the rest of the card games. I will give this game a try thou.

      @@RarecuisineGaming zenonzard had potential but anime episodes sucks mostly because there were only Two battle episodes and story line was a bit inconsistent. Gameplay mechanics also suffer a lot, especially unbalanced factions ( Red OP, white a joke), and later on strange cards expansions.

      @@TheMrYadrian facts, I hated the anime. it should have focused on card battles and they should have left the codeman stories to the mobile game.
      bandai using collabs means they had to bring in certain income which hurt the game since they had to make money instead of give us players a balanced gameplay experience.
      I would love to see the game relaunch with a less greedy mindset

      @@RarecuisineGaming You point of View I accept fully with one Exception: cards battles like anime should focus more on battles - while it was possible to showcase story of each Codeman, they should 'fight' using cards. Yugioh, battle Spirits, duel Masters and other animes of these gender succesfully advertised their games via "duels".

      Zenonzard was cool as a card game but this seems better the anime actually have a story and focus on the card game and the card game its interesting and can have sucess if done right since it's by the creator of Vanguard
