I saw them 5 times. Today, I realized not only is the age of rock over, but to think how these musicians wrote, composed, arranged and played these songs, consistently, for decades, is beyond remarkable. I doubt there will ever be a time as there was from about 1962 to 2000, again.

Yes you can. Just read how they raped underage girlrs. Bonzo was hiding from screams of girls when plant and guitar player were "doing threesomes". Sometimes Bonzo was rescuing them. I one instance he passed girl to Gillan. When she refused, Gillan decided not to rape her but simply dumped her penniless in a bad neighborhood in the middle of the night.

If you watched this in its entirety, you're obviously a Zeppelin fan. Four great musicians growing, forming, and peaking as a unit. Rarely do you find a band where all members are playing to their equals. With that being said, WE would not have had Zeppelin for as long as we have if it wasn't for Peter Grant. The usual cut was 33% of the gross for the managers. Grant was one of the first to realize that it was the band that HE worked FOR not the other way around. Twenty percent was the cut Grant charged Led Zeppelin. That percentage also covered the overhead costs as well as his salary. But it was Grant that rented the venues, printed the tickets and provided the merch. The band's money would own the concessioners for that night. He didn't just rent MSG he was the one that got paid for the parking fees. Everything that was made, 80% went BACK to the band. That's unheard of!! Groups like Grand Funk Railroad, Ted Nugent, Foghat, etc....all got royally screwed by their management and record companies. NOT Led Zeppelin. What I find heartwarming is know that the Bohnam Family still receives John's share as if John himself was still alive.
How comforting it must be to have total trust in your manager, where you are free to focus on YOUR work. When Peter Grants had the "boys" sign here and initial there, it was the BEST deal they were getting.

@Krista Adams Toro The 50/50 cut was Elvis' proposal. Col Parker had guaranteed Presley that HE would be the biggest star EVER if he allowed him to be his manager. The arrow of time , plus fate , times destiny , and divided by the average life span of a rock star , or a famous scientist , or movie star equals just about every history making event humans have been a part of . There is no way any other person would've fit the same slot , as every one of those individuals . It's literally unimaginable . Could you imagine anybody else other than Elvis ? Or Einstein ? Or John Denver ? Or Paul McCartney . Led Zeppelin is one of many , in a long line of things meant to happen right from the very start . You were meant to happen , I was meant to happen , and the way things have turned out for us was meant to happen . Sadly , I believe the arrow of destiny has likely been altered by those that understand fate can be used as a tool to adjust the direction of the future

The pure talent of the band and their unbelievably cohesive nature is unique in all of rock history. There's a clip of the Mighty Zeppelin playing Achilles Last Stand live at Knebworth and they hit every single change perfectly in time with each other. I have played guitar since I was 12 and played in a number of bands ... it really is a beautiful thing to watch. Achilles Last Stand is an unbelievably complicated piece, particularly for Bonzo. In my humble opinion, it's his best work. To pull off a nearly perfectly executed live performance of that particular song shows how in sync with each other Led Zeppelin truly was and why continuing without John Bonham was never an option.

It was announced that they had decided to retire instead, and leave the
Body of work as a memorial to John. About four weeks or so later, the beginning of june that yr, on the classic rock station, B-97, they played
Led Zeppelin A to Z, starting at 5 pm
Friday. And then Sunday A.M they aired a BBC Interview with the band AND Jason. they were asked the ? Of
Why they had decided to retire and
Where. Robert answered and said that
The four of them got together at their
Rehearsal studio in London with a Bottle of Scotch and proceeded to get
Drunk and reminisce about cry. And during that time the decision was made to retire. And i remember that everyone, the public, that jason was the reason for the breakup. But Robert
Was adamant that was not the case. And everyone of them seconded that
Sentiment. And was how Jason started his tribute band with him on the drums. And i watched the Kennedy Center Honors, with his band

This was Music born of extreme pain and suffering but the people, the genius of the people made it beautiful. It was also Cathartic medicine for survival. I think it's why it's so universally loved and felt. I loved The Fact that Led Zeppelin used their English Acoustic Music, it's very beautiful and also very Soulful.

I couldn't believe it.... They were my favorite band since their initial release... I couldn't afford the album as a 10 year old but I had a 45 with "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communicaiton Breakdown" and simply got worn out.... I will never forget how much I studied those first two album covers in my dorm room in college... Damn they were a great band... Everyone of them and collectively were fine fine musicians... When we were kids (12, 13,) my siblings and our friends knew immediately that The Yardbirds were something completely different. We were so young…we couldn’t articulate why and how they were different, but it doesn’t matter, we have those wonderful memories. It wasn’t until I was 15, I heard this album of Led Zeppelin (2nd album). Whoa! I couldn’t stop listening to it. It wasn’t anything I could explain, but I only wanted to listen to that album. Then! Surprise!! I found out they had their 1st album I hadn’t heard yet. Well, that was it. It’s been Led Zeppelin for me as #1 all these years. I’m now 66, and they are still #1 and will always be.

I think the genius of Led Zeppelin is that all four members of the group are Rockstars in their own right. When you listen to any one of their songs, each member can distinctly be heard at most any point in time. It was never a struggle to hear John Bonham on the drums. You could always count on being able to distinguish John Paul Jones for his baseline, which was always ground breaking and incredible. Although Jimmy page was the lead guitarist, there was often times when his guitar was not the primary sound that was leading the melody. Sometimes it was Robert Plant’s voice, which was one of a kind, like no other. It was a given that all four members were equals and each one was willing and able to take the lead when called upon. When you combine four musical geniuses, talented and fearless Rockstars, all pulling in the same direction, incredible things happen. This is Led Zeppelin. And there is no substitute.

JIMMY PAGE is a vastly vastly underrated producer. I think though what makes zep stand out is their live stuff. HOW THE WEST WAS WON is simply the best live music I've ever heard in my life. Put those 3 cd's on and I dare u to even try mentioning anyone else with better live stuff

As a teen, I ignored Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd because I couldn’t stand the idiots who liked them. In my late thirties I rediscovered them and gave them a fair chance and was highly impressed. I circled back 10 years later and learned about the prowess of the individual musicians and delved into the complexity and innovation of their music and I was blown away, and I’ve stayed that way. The more you know about music and about them, the less reason you have to even consider anyone else as the alpha. Utterly amazing.

I always loved and respected all the greatest rock bands from the 60's and 70's, those that put the bar a little higher than before such as Beatles, Stones, Purple, Sabbath, Queen, Floyd, etc. All on their own had a magical thing going on and their contributions to music were enormous without a doubt. But Zeppelin, oh man..., Zeppelin brought a wider pallet of sounds and styles and such a particular way of composing music that was completely new and unique that made them unreachable and untouchable to this day.

      • Don't forget about the Rock 'n' Roll Greats from the 1940's to the 1980's starting with electric blues. One of the influential blues-rock greats was Mr. Pat Hare. Others were the late greats (R.I.P. to those that are no longer with us):
      1. Ike Turner
      2. Chuck Berry
      3. Little Richard
      4. Bo Diddley
      5. Fats Domino
      6. Muddy Waters
      7. Howlin Wolf
      8. Pat Hare
      9. Jimi Hendrix
      10. The Bar-Kays
      11. Black Rock
      12. Parliament/Funkadelic
      13. Black Merda
      14. Bad Brains
      15. Thin Lizzy
      16. The Busboys

      17. Sly Stone and Freddie Stone (from Sly and the Family Stone)
      18. Prince (R.I.P.)
      19. Fishbone
      20. Living Colour
      21. Death… etc.
Listen to all of these greats and tell me what you think. And then you will be convinced that African-Americans helped to create and contribute to the Rock genre.
