Ridiculous to say but it’s arguably one of the best next gen game I’ve played. A masterclass in how to succeed in everything your development team sets out to do. Wonderful game.
For the coloring, I like to just fill it in (,at first while clicking and staying in place, then with the bucket brush style) and adding details whenever I come back and/or feel like it. It helps with not getting bored, in fact the places looking a bit nicer each time you visit them is satisfying
They intentionally left the control of the paintbrush imprecise, so as to let you learn or come to grips that perfection is not a necessity to have joy in the game. And, perhaps, that will hold true irl.
Plus you have to remember the main character is very unexperienced with art, so they probably lack the dexterity for precise details (might also explain why the color palette is so minimal too, while the one room we saw painted by Chicory before all the colors left was much more detailed and colorful)
I like how the battles still feel epic and important thanks to the visuals and music even tho your character can't die (they flinch and the screen goes white, slowing your progress down quite a lot and keeping you from attacking, so you still need to dodge)
I was interested in the art and aesthetic, but this ain't my type of game at all. Great review that defined what the game is about and highlighted its strengths and
I do not understand the hype. I'm playing it now and it's so boring, no guidance of where to go or what to do, or even hints to help me along my journey. It's like "here's how to color, go!" And I'm wandering around with no goal or aim, no thanks.
Not trolling, you can literally call your mom and your enthusiastic dad for extra hints, i do it all the time. Feeling a bit burnt out on complex games so really appreciated the easy hint system.
@@matwilliams3206 thanks for the tip! I haven't played it in a while, but I'm thinking of getting back into it soon, so I'll definitely be calling my parents.
There are phone booths, you can use them to call your parents! Your mom gives vague ideas about what to do next, then if you let him your dad will give more specific tips
Lena Raine did the soundtrack so I’m sold.
