I just purchased this system as the Kamrui. It has very good reviews on the Windows 11 Forum. The whole world does not revolve around gaming. This mini PC will control my Amatuer Radio station and attached Software Defined Radios.
I like the idea of the magnetically attached panels.
Mate, are you Kiwi? First time I heard the accent I thought you were but you get so many mini PC's I feel like you.must live in the US
No, Aussie
The Ace model which looked very similar to this, came with malware by the manufacturer, at least according to some people online. Is this the same manufacturer as Ace Magician or whatever?
The Ace in the name sure sounds like it, plus the whole looking the same thing.
Otherwise, I really like the RGB lighting, which is a rare thing for me.
I would love to have some time with this.
Windows Central published an article about the malware that changes the default search engine to some shady site. It was an Acemagic-branded mini pc with the same vertical design and the same knob. Certainly looks like the same OEM
I had a quick look and found Ace, Ace Magician, Nipogi and Kamrui all using the same case. Some have different APU's.
@@egnatius79 this is what I remember reading too, the Chrome install is borked with spyware. You can't scrub it and re-install from scratch, you had to re-install the O/S
No Chrome installed on this one. Just a regular Windows install.
@@Robtech Good to know, thanks.
It's nice that this doesn't need a BIOS update out of the box, but who sells something with that kind of lighting and provides no way of changing or disabling it. Still, at least this unit has a working power knob, which the previous incarnation didn't.
That's a nice knob.
If you use sleep mode and wake up again, you cannot use knob. Is this true? I heard about it somewhere.
I mentioned this in my previous review. But it's also been fixed with this one.
Should you not mention that this is marketed as a Kamrui as well?
No, I don't see why when that's not the brand I'm reviewing. Nor all the other brands that sell this mini PC (Supmine, Chatreey, Ouvis, ACEMAGICIAN, Clyte and any others I've missed). AMR5 is mentioned as the OEM name in the description if anyone wants to search it up.
I'm not sure why you compare a U model with all the H models ? Of course it won't be able to compete. Wouldn't it make more sense to compare it to U models ?
I'd say because they cost around the same, but that would be a lie. Quite a few of those H models cost less than this.
AcePC that comes with free malware? Might want to do an AV scan as part of the review for these chinese pc's 🤣
That's ACEMAGICIAN/ACE MAGIC. Different company.
