The 5xxx Ryzen has become a budget-friendly consumer sale item - it's cheap day-to-day because of constant voucher discounts on Amazon. Good value and from a really good manufacturer. Above the 300 dollar mark you are likely to be getting newer models with less scope for discounts. N100 is a good buy but the differences in spec can be quite large - DDR4 is common around 115 dollars but paying an extra 50 gets nicer build, DDR5, WIFI 6 and USB-C. The latter is really useful if you have power delivery from your monitor.
Thanks for the super in-depth comparison on these models. Is it possible to replace the cooling fans inside them? If so, do you know the fan size?
The MinisForum Venus Series are nice little boxes as well.
N100 hasbeen great for me.
Running pihole and Jellyfin.
Best thing ? It's doing it at 6 WATTS.
Got the ser 5 max to make a emulation box for my nephews. 250$👌🏼
Very informative. Thank you.
Was able to grab a Beelink SER5 5700U during a prime day sale for $189. Wasn't really aware of this PC until I saw the deal. Wasn't sure if there was a catch but for that price I snagged it anyway. Will be trying it out soon as a home server machine!
Holy shit that’s an insane price! Absolutely congrats on that grab cuz I bet they sold out fast 😂
@@EVOTech1 Haha yea man, it just happened like 3 days ago on the r/buildapcsales subreddit. Saw the parts to price and was couldn’t believe it. Only thing I couldn’t find for that particular SER5 was the TDP. In any case sub 200 seemed pretty nuts. Think Amazon is still have some discounts on the various SER5s
Awesome video thank you brother 👍🏼
We've got mini's under $100 now, so they make a great way to get into something like a Dakboard, using an old monitor! I installed Zorin OS on a mini that wasn't dealing with Windows 10 well, and it runs Dakboard awesomely!
what mini is under 100? i want something fun to play with and stable enough for a good jellyfin or plex server. my laptop running plex is hitting 12 yrs old now and is starting to show its age...
I'm after a mini pc, ideally fanless because I like silence at work, but also supporting 3 displays, performance isn't an issue. Any recommendations?
I have the trigkey 5500 u , i added 32 gb of ram and it runs pretty well even with gaming.
Just ordered a Beelink Ser 5 Pro Ryzen 5700U for a IIS Web Server with SQL Server as well. Thinking of upgrading the Ram to 64GB. What do you think?
I want a powerful mini that’s quiet. I will mostly be video editing / office work / heavy multi tasking. No games at all.
I canceled the order for the SER 5 MAX twice on Amazon because of noise complaints from the fan.
Do you recommend the 5700U or 5560U for my use?
The Trigkey Speed S5 with the 5800H is a solid option. you get the 5800H but you also have an unlocked TDP control in the bios. so what that means is you can set a lower TDP which will reduce temps so lower noise. A 5800H doesnt need 54W to be a good chip. Dropping the TDP even to 35W gets you most of the performance while dramatically dropping down the amount of heat and noise generated. another option is the SER6 MAX since it actually is the first Beelink System that I have had that has the TDP unlocked. So same thing, no need for 54W when 35W gets you 95% of the performance with an almost silent experience. especially if you are not gonna be gaming. only really intense CPU workloads will even bring the fans on, and at a lower TDP will not get loud.
I currently use a Trigkey system with a Ryzen 7 5800H and 32 GB of memory as my main PC. It replaced a bulky Ryzen 7 2700X I built in 2018-19. Right now as we speak, I have 4-5 containers running for a coding project, including quite a CPU intensive DB and Kafka, 2 browsers and some dev tools open and it is still very quiet and there's nearly 50% memory and 75% CPU headroom for more. Now that is spectacular. I picked it up for 450 Canadian Dollars (around $325 USD) but it only shipped with 16 GB of RAM. I upgraded it because I run VM and container workloads and I had a lot of spare RAM sticks, but 16 GB is enough for most people.
the trigkey with r7 5800h is imo the best one for the price, i paid it 330 euros 2 months ago and i still can't find anything better at that price point. Maybe some intel n-95 i found for 150 € but i'm not really sure, the n100 would interest me more
I also live in Canada and got the the 32Gb version of the R7 5800H Trigkey about a month and half ago for 450 Canadian Dollars. Best bang for your buck hands down. There has always been at least an 80 dollar difference lesser than Beelink with same specs❤
Its currently $480, how she doing? @@digitizer3627
Beelink SER5 with 5500U and 5560U with 16GB/500GB here are currently on sell for less than 300 EUR (incl. VAT) and I am really thinking about it hard, it's just a very attractiv offer in my opionion and I'm not sure this can get better and might go up instead ^^
Have you ever tried installing 32GB of RAM in any of these? I've been hearing a lot of claims that some Intel processors, even though they'll say max RAM 16GB, they'll recognize 32GB when slotted. Intel was questioned about this behavior and the reply was even though the hardware and the system will recognize it and use it. It's still not supported. So, I'm just curious what your mileage was. Thanks
So if I want to edit videos on a mini PC. Would I be better off buying a Ryzen 7 because the CPU and GPU are way more powerful, or makes the codec support the intel faster even though in gaming they suck? What about adding a eGPU? I would like to play ps3 emulation and some games and edit 4k videos h.264 codec. Maybe adding a eGPU later for home editing. But gaming needs to be portable. The Ser6 seemed nice to me and blows away the i9 in gaming! But no one shows the editing performance of R7 VS i7/i9
depends on your specific editor of choice. if you are using Premiere, intel still holds a lead there to much more narrow than before. If you use DaVinci Resolve, then AMD is extremely well supported and is the way to go. Any other editors im not very familiar with. eGPUs are supported on AMD 6000 series and up, while intel will support it on any system with a thunderbolt port. Keep in mind that USB4 eGPU support is not identical to Thunderbolt. there is a lot of overlap in compatibility but a thunderbolt eGPU is not guaranteed to work with a USB4 port. If you want a more painless eGPU experience, I would go with an intel Nuc. if you don't mind doing a bit more research on what eGPU enclosure you get, then I would get AMD.
I know that you've reviewed KAMRUI AK1 Pro Intel Celeron N5105 (mine is only 8 gb) before. I was able to buy a "like new" version of that in FB marketplace today for $100 Cad/$73 USD). These Intel Celeron are good for web browsing and watching a lot of youtube and Twitch on a dual monitor right? I'm also waiting for a black friday sale to see if minisforum will beat its current Halloween deal of UM790 Pro $489 barebone or the one I'm interested in UM733 Lite Sakura $310 barebone. What do you think?
From their site right now you can order a barebones UM690S with a 6900hx for around . It’s a better buy than a system with a 7735hs since it’s the same APU but with higher clock speeds on both the CPU and iGPU. This is just an improved version of the UM690 which had thermal issues with the SSD. It has a redesigned cooler like the 773 lite but again a better overall apu. Besides that, 489 is not a bad price for the um790 though it has wifi reception issues.
Keep seeing comparisons made between ser5 max and ser6. While ser5 max offers way better value to performance, are you going to make any that compare it to ser6 max in the future?
Yes I should be receiving the SER6 max sometime today.
Are any of these available at any brick and mortar stores?
I doubt it. These are all straight from China. And the tiny companies that make them don't seem to have a big enough presence for that to happen. The QA is really hit or miss and the after purchase support is minimal, at best. But Amazon has a nice return policy for the 30 or so days after purchase, so there is at least a time to ensure yours is working well.
hi mate , I don't know whether to buy the Acemagician AM06 Pro with Ryzen 7 5700U 32GB RAM and 500GB of memory or the Ser5 Max with Ryzen 7 5800H 32GB RAM and 500GB. From what I understand, the Ser5 Max is more powerful but it also costs 50 euros more, is it worth it? Do you recommend waiting for Black Friday for discounts? Thank you so much mate
I see that thare is also a trigkey with r7 5800H and the same specifics of ser5max but for 20/30 euros less, maybe it's worth taking this one if the difference is only in the noise.
I would go TRIGKEY. you will be able to adjust the TDP in bios to whatever you want and it will cool the 5800H pretty well. the AM06 PRO tends to run hot even at low TDPs. it will perform noticeably worse than the others. the TRIGKEY will give you 95% of the performance of the SER5 MAX for a much lower price.
@@EVOTech1 thank you very much, so if I were to find the ser5max for less than the trigkey the ser5max is preferable, because now on amazon I would pay 30 euros less for the ser5max(319) compared to the trigkey(349) and also I have another 100 coupon and therefore I would pay it 219 only. Obviously both 32GB RAM and 500 of memory. Anyway, I think I'll wait for Black Friday...
I lean towards the SER6 Max over the SER5. You get a slightly faster CPU, much faster GPU, and DDR5. But if you plan to do no gaming, then I guess the SER5 is probably worth the savings.
I believe it's not big difference between ddr4 and ddr5 in performance.. ddr5 is expensive tho
I always thought memory speed was one of the big limiters of iGPUs. But in day to day tasks, I am sure it makes little difference. @@waleedkhan3798
I got the Beelink SER5 with the Ryzen 5 5560U recently & got it on a sale for only around $250 USD before tax
It's a great Mini PC & plays everything I want well! Even my most intense game, Forza Horizon 4 it plays on Medium Graphics while not dropping below 30Fps during gameplay! Plays Forza Horizon 4 in the mid/high 30s most of the time, sometimes low 40s & sometimes low 30s
Minisforum is better than all of these.
They're pretty much all the same shit
I see you never tried to get support from them 😂 never ever buy minisforum unless you don’t care throwing it away and buying another!!!
