    I’m all for making the job easier, less chances for mistake especially when it’s hard to access the timing belt tensioner. My recommendation for anyone doing this job just remove the engine mount and make sure u have a jack with a block of wood up under the oil pan, I believe they are stretch bolts but you can buy a complete kit for like $40.

    Hi, I watched your video and thank you for doing it. About the timing belt. It is not necessary to remove it... Just loosen the tensioner. Yes you are correct that "most" of the slack is on the opposite side of the engine but there is enough slack to remove the idler pulley to the top left of the HPFP and the belt is way loose enough to remove the sprocket with ease. :o)

      You could and I'm sure there more ways to do this than the one I have shown. That said as long everything lines up and you feel confident do this my friend any way that makes since. 👊😎

    the fogs were stock on Canadian TDI and optional in the US, so people were picking them up when the crushed the Canadian TDI's and owners pulled them off pre crush. to resell

    Great video, thanks for putting it together. I just had this happen and was wondering how to take the pump off. I have the timing kit but not the same one you have. What's the kit called?

    Car went into limp mode on me and engine stalled going around 20mph, pulled over and my car wouldn’t start at all. Battery went dead too so I called my mechanic who told me my alternator blew and then ruined the battery. I had similar symptoms to a hpfp failure, I’m praying to god it’s not that though I can’t afford a 6-7k repair on a 2011 golf😭

    Hi mate, I’m replacing my timing belt on my 2.0 tdi CR engine which has had a timing belt done in the past. The issue is I’ve locked the crank and cam shaft in place but the tab to lock the high pressure fuel pump is about 45 degrees away from the hole, almost as if the last mechanic who replaced the belt didn’t lock the fuel pump in. Do I pull the fuel pump back round and lock it in before putting the new belt on or do I just mark the old belt and replace it as it is without locking in the fuel pump? Some people say the timing is important on these pumps and others say not so I’m not sure how to go about it. Cheers

      So first off the fuel pump on these has nothing to really do with the timing the engine.(there is torsion system that is involved with it but that on the cam side of thing and it requires vcds or equivalent to mess with ). The only reason you need to lock up the fuel pump is for removal of the pulley stack on it.
      I include a write up you will probably find alot of value you and should help you. It help me when I learned how to do these the first time.

    Maybe the pin on the follower broke ? and then its worn away ? because why wouldn't they have a pin to keep it aligned ???

    • @TheRwdyAudi
      @TheRwdyAudi  10 місяців тому +1

      You would think they would have, but they didn't.. only the gas cars had a follower with pin. I'll post a photo in the community tab with the different gas follower vs. tdi cp4 follower

    So you dont have to drop and clean the tank and replase the tank fuel pump a secondary pump

    • @TheRwdyAudi
      @TheRwdyAudi  Рік тому +1

      Very rarely have I had to replace the intank pump the amount of metal that returns back to tank is so small(not to mention it would get trapped in the pick up sock on the pump it self) and even if it where to come up the line it would get stuck in the filter before ever being able to cycle back to the hpfp... it physically not possible.
      As for the secondary pump, "dirty or contaminated " fuel would never enter the aux pump as it only feeds its filter, and fuel can't go back wards.
      One thing I didn't cover that should be done is that both the fpr sensor needs to be clean and possibly replaced if they are showing faults.
      All of this typed out each case is different and should be treated as such.
      Best of luck, my dude, I hope this helps

    • @TheRwdyAudi
      @TheRwdyAudi  Рік тому

      Sadly no we didn't end up doing a rebuild the only parts supplier I could find to get the guts was in turkey and the lead time was about a month to get the what we need, which didn't line up with the customers needs. 🤞maybe in the future we will get and opportunity to do it

      This was service work for customer. But in this case we had to replace the pump because the follower turned side ways(common failure) it completely ruin the unit(there is a company in Ukraine that sell parts to rebuild my customer decided not go this route). Ultimately replacement of the cp4 pump was a better option. Hope this answered your question
