After years of watching Carnage you've always come across as a super humble guy Scotty, and finally getting to meet you at Dragway at the Bend for the final day of Drag Challenge, you did not disappoint. We shook hands upon meeting and you reaching out to shake my hand once more upon saying goodbye just proved how much of a legend you are. I really wish I had the chance to get my car sorted now and offer it to you to drive for Drag Challenge seeing as I couldn't compete due to work commitments and the ute wasn't complete in time. It ain't much, just a 400rwhp SS commodore but I would've been happy for you to send it for me. Keep up the awesome work and I hope to join you on Drag Challenge some time in the future.
Great progress mate. It hurts a little watching all your grinding spark's melt to their new home on the new shiny parts. Grab a recip saw and quality Milwaukee little metal blades, (not cheap bendy ones) and you'd be well surprised what thick steel they cut and place's you fit the blades in where a grinder head wont.
Coming along nicely. Totally understand how DC wasn't possible, but bloody I'm excited for this build to hit the track. Wild to think it ran in the 15's stock, and it'll be literally TWICE as fast when you're done. Thanks for the vids as always
I’m sure stock front sump from most commys fit and oil filter at the front bust need a vcm baffle system, prolly cut down half your fitting issues, also never get that pan in if you had the oil pickup in sorry scotty haha

Lots of fiddling about but you got it in Scotty (That's what she said!) BTW, the power steering reservoir didn't need yanking out, you just lift it out.

I say this Scotty never doubt yourself, you just take bite sized chunks until it's done buddy. Never thinking for a moment how can I get it done in time. As my father said many times in his life, :-- " Never try son Just do it one step at a time." I Am living proof he was right😉🙂👍👍 Your passion is your key to just doing it till it's done. 🙂👍👍

Whether it is true or not is another thing, but it has you focused on the right thing, the job in hand. In some ways it is a bit like the old saying... Look after the pennies, and the pounds will take care of themselves.
@@DodgyBrothersEngineering It's true coz as you knock off one challenge at a time, there is free rental space in the cranium for the next challenge that arrises from ( eg modifications and flow on effect) majour changes. Your saying as quoted is also cool I was 2 when a certain bank turned dad into a porper overnight by not letting him change over his small fortune. Watched him repair modify etc with less than a shoe string budget.😉🙂👍👍

@@steveveness3829 I got cancer about six years ago (now gone, or as they like to say undetectable) but it was a similar life changing eperience for me. All of a sudden you don't sweat the small stuff, and you start to appreciate what you have rather than what you haven't.
Exhaust bolts they are proper shit c@#ts. A 5 inch wheel of death fixes the little buggers. I also say in a firm but unforgiving tone "just f@#ken die!" while I exorcised the deamons.....makes you feel better after too!! Is it me or do some of the younger generation seem soft.....? I want to build cars but if I can't get from a shop and just bolt it on I'm gonna cry about it. Come on kids, where is your sense of victory in simple bolt on bits. Get dirty, test your smarts and don't be scared of f#@king up. It's only bad when you can't weld it, use zip ties or buy a new one (even then you still have options)
LS conversions aren't cheap anymore. but they sound better than a barra. (think i'd prefer a 1UZ to either, is why the lexen is so appealing.. as a street car anyway)

I'm another one who was sad to see one less manual but it's for a good cause and will be a kit for someone else. That motor looks great in there, and some of the stuff you've got is just gorgeous. Can't wait to see the next part. :)
The VPW sumps is a good idea, but the stock LS1 sump would have fitted straight in and no oil relocate needed.. Just for those thinking of doing a conversion 👍

Was wondering how many non Australians would have picked up on that. Not living here they have probably never seen the sticker on cars to pick up the reference, and Scotty was careful to say Nothern Territory as to avoid any potential issues.
Hmm kinda sad to watch this knowing drag challenge is done and you were there as an official not a driver😢. I guess by now the ute is done so i guess we will see some passes at Heathcote on a future episode of Carnage! 👍

I know you are pushed for time and it isn't a huge issue, but if you were concerned about any strength loss you could always put a spaced down diagonal strap across the corners that goes under the sump corner.
I've done an injected 5L and 4L60e into a WB Tonner conversion myself. I have a 500hp LS and 4L6OE I'm putting into a VS ute too. What computer and wiring harness are you using? I farkin hate 12v electrics

What was the reason for not putting the 427ci in, you didn't go into depth much on that part? Just timing, and easier to swap?

You can use a standard ls1 front sump out of Vt-vz

You were correct about the oil pan, if you're running E85 it will be filled with 6 1/2 litres of fuel. 😂

Scotty before you start hacking into the pipes have you considered any difference in deck height between your donor engine and the engine going in?
