The Demon - Four people trapped inside a church basement during a terrible storm. But there is something different about this storm, and it may cost our believers their very souls.
It should be scary to you, because that could actually be you one day - dying frightened and alone and full of self-hate and regret, hallucinating things that scare you senseless, as nature wreaks havoc around you. This story isn't about the supernatural. It's about an old woman dying to a tornado, her brain giving her hallucinations that do not bring comfort, but rather terror, in its final seconds.
Just found the channel thanks to a friends recommendation after they too have recently found you. I have happily subscribed to the channel and now I need to binge watch all the rest of your videos.
Never understood the strange thought process: "I've seen a demon. CLEARLY there's no GOD." That's like saying: "I've seen a shadow. Clearly there's no sun."
That’s because you’re looking at it from a biblical perspective… If you look at the idea of what we see as ‘evil’ in the way as someone such as HP LOVECRAFT did… to him, unimaginable horror & Godlike beings are neither good or bad… regardless of how terrible they are to us. They see us the way humans see bugs or even bacteria… we don’t even think about wiping them out… but if they were sentient… they’d likely see humans as evil Godlike beings. So yeah… you’re looking at it from a very specific perspective. I know this doesn’t apply to a reality that exists in a Biblical context… I’m more speaking about it from a real world view…. If something somewhere exists that we would consider to be evil… it may only be such from human POV… It’s only evil depending your experience. Not objectively evil. Take the Nazis… is some of what they did, “evil”? Yes?? Well to some, & them… they weren’t doing evil. I know this is probably reading way too into your comment lol, I was just pointing out that the idea of good & evil is an interesting concept to think about. :) (I do believe in God. But I can see others POV)
Demons predate any mention of God. God could be considered another form of demon. Usually, in myth, demons are born of human malice. The fuck has God to do with it?
All the people saying this story isn't scary are perhaps missing the point, I believe. They say it couldn't scare an atheist or the monster isn't scary or whatever. The story, to me, isn't about a monster. It isn't about religion. Nothing supernatural ever happened. To me, the story seems more about an old woman dying terrified and alone, not because of some supernatural horror or eldritch abomination, but because of nature. There was no demon. There was just Cassandra, hallucinating horrors as her brain shut down after a tornado mangled her.

Its funny you have 2 pastors that are terrified of a demon. When in reality, they could have sent that thing running squealing like a piggy😂😂😂 great story and vocal acting
I think you missed the point. There never was a demon. The pastors never actually discussed it. Brittany never turned inside out. There was just Cassandra, hallucinating horrors as her brain shut down, after the tornado mangled her.
I love these stuff! Back in the day, when radio drama was so popular in my country, I recorded all the radio dramas that I listen every day and listen to it again and again. Here's my attempt to rekindle those memories: www.youtube.com/@telefontheseries/playlists
Nothing that came before was real. No demon. No young woman turning inside out. No pastor committing self-end. The pastor and Cassandra were meeting in his office when the tornado hit. It ripped the roof off, knocked the pastor out (why he seemed groggy at the end), and killed Cassandra. Everything that came before the tornado announcement was Cassandra's dying hallucination. She died alone, scared, and full of bitter regret.
This story was PERFECT until the last two minutes. An absolute masterpiece at the level of any famous horror play. Get rid of the last two minutes, guys. We don’t need that alternate ending where 3 survived because that ending makes no sense and takes away the larger point that she was making. End it with everyone dead.
@@MSkallywagg For a strong commitment to everything that we heard about actually having happened. That last two minute bit about how only the old woman died doesn’t present a clear vision of what happened. Otherwise, there’s a convoluted explanation for what really happened, different than what we heard, or the ending is so blurred that it doesn’t even make sense. The other alternatives are much less appealing, and much less scary.
I thought it was brilliant. I took it as when the storm started Cassandra died. Everything after that was in her own mind or a different place (where we go when we are dead). She obviously ended up in the bad place, and that's her own personal hell.
The ending made perfect sense and had a strong point. Nothing before the tornado annoncement was real. The pastor and Cassandra were having a meeting when the tornado struck. It tore off the roof, knocked out the pastor (why he seemed out of it at the end), and killed Cassandra. There was no demon. There was no young woman turned inside out. There was just an old, bitter woman dying, her last seconds filled with terrifying hallucinations instead of comforting ones. Cassandra died alone, scared, and full of regret.
The ending explains the rest of the story. Cassandra and the pastor were having a meeting when the tornado hit. It ripped the roof off, knocked the pastor out (which is why he seemed dazed at the end), and killed Cassandra. There were no demons, or people being turned inside out. There was an old woman hallucinating in the final moments before her brain shut off. Cassandra died scared, alone, and full of regret.
@@ottobiographee I see. I suppose I simply don't understand the original comment. Wouldn't the idea of spirits and life after death being real be the most frightening concept of all for an atheist?

Audio dramas like this are my jam
I agree. It's my peanut butter.
This is a seriously quality piece of work, as good as anything on the BBC, can't wait to listen to more of these

She's definitely not very charitable, is she?
