Hi Guys, I have just binge watched Chapter 1 of your amazing adventure. What an inspiration both of you are. I am almost 20yrs older than both of you and I wish I had the same vision and determination both of you have. Becka, your positivity and attitude to life is amazing, and you should be extremely proud of everything you have done. I am excited to see the rest of your journey and wish you all the best in your travels. Stay positive in your thoughts and stay resilient in your troubles, life will be good. All the best, David
I’ve sailed around the world 3 times and just about to do my 30th transatlantic crossing now but I’m totally addicted to watching you guys, it’s really inspiring to see what I’ve perhaps taken for granted but is so beautiful and amazing. Brilliant, 10 out of 10 watching you x
One of the best tips I got when changing filters was to use a plastic ziplock-like bag around the fuel and oil filters when unscrewing. All the mess goes inside and you can zip it up when finished.
just been watching all your vids from the start and its great to see your journey progress, i am from the SW so its nice seeing all the local spots your finding.
I'm immensely jealous of the two of you, living the dream and exploring all of these new places! If you've not read it before, I would recommend "Frenchman's Creek" by Daphne Du Maurier (of Jamaica Inn fame). It is set in the Helston area and is an excellent read. The idea of a pirate style vessel travelling up and down those rivers is perhaps a little ridiculous after seeing Tiny Teulu run aground though !
Take it easy while docking , if you hurry you'll fall sometime . If you can stay on board and start with a line in the middle , your boat is basicly docked already . Stay save and relax and have fun 👍👍👍👌👌👌🥳👋
We spent two lovely months in the Fal and area just this past summer. I know all those places so well! We stayed on all the various pontoons and anchored here and there as well. So nice to see it again. We had some great picnics and walks, and midsummer moonlight rowing. (That poor crab surely had his home inside that old wreck)
Love watching your videos! Hello from two liveaboards in Hawaii! Love watching your channel. It gives us inspiration for our own UA-cam channel, but also our future travels after we restore our boat! Thanks for being an inspiration to us!
Thanks guys, it always makes our days when someone says that we’ve inspired them 😁 We would love to make it out to Hawaii at some point. Hopefully we will see you on the water, best of luck with the restoration!
As I now have lived in Australia for fifty years, I had forgotten how well it can rain in the West Country. You are both looking so well. Boat life seems to suit you.
To save your bow thrusters have you tried using your spring ropes to pivot you off a pontoon? Keeping the stern spring on and reversing onto it (helm toward the dock) will ping your now out. Driving forward against your bow spring will ping your stern out…. For the former this is good if you have wind and tide running on your nose and you want to effectively turn around…. It also means you are still attached to the dock so won’t drift off should it go a bit pear shaped! Don’t forget a roving fender though when you steer into the pontoon/dock!!!
Thanks for the advice Andrew 😊 We haven’t tried this technique with our boat yet, we’ll have to give it a go next time we are coming alongside with wind and tides! In difficult marina we normally have a roving fender at the ready 😊
Fun episode guys, some crazy weather, but that’s Autumn in the U.K. that was a sad looking westerly Centaur where Mr crab was residing. Very sad to see someone’s once pride and joy rotting away. Lovely to see the harbour master and locals are so lovely. Cheers Andy UK
Thanks for another great video. Just a suggestion for the dingy. Get yourselves a small piece (50 - 60 cm) of plastic pipe the diameter of the throttle control/tiller and you can slip it over as a tiller extension and still have steering while getting your weight as far forward as you can.
As you've just discovered, the West Country is equally as inclement as Wet Welsh Wales. I spent six years in Wales as a teenager during the early 1960's, up the end of the A40, near Fishguard. I'm very glad I no longer live in Wales or the West Country. It's far drier here on the Hampshire/Sussex border and warmer, too. Thanks for another great video.
Great videos. I’m binge watching them to catch up. I’m a friend of Mike and Bosun. My tip would be that you should try your Rocna. I have an ‘undersized’ Rocna and it holds better than any correct size anchor I’ve had. I think it would hold better and be easier to handle. Works perfectly every time.
Stuart at Ouse Boat Services. Absolute diamond geezer!! If and when the misses decides my idea of sailing is a good one 👍 and we leave land locked Peterborough, we'll be sure to use your services. Great episode Zach and Becka ❤️
Made me smile how funny you thought it was looking out at all the rain and lightning, knowing that Zak was carrying two bags of shopping back to the boat in the rain, then having to face the storm in a dinghy, but at least we all know now who the captain is!!!!!!!!! Gosh that was twice as long as normal this week , look forward to them as usual 😊, be good when you finally get away from dreary England , can you not use the shower on the boat when at sea or does it gobble up the water and gas ?as you know I am no sailer so do ask questions others may no the answer to 😊
I really look forward to your weekly videos. So how did you get the name of your boat and what does it mean ? See ya next week. Oh ya get out the rain , go to a warmer and drier climate
Hi Becka, Zach. Becka u seemed so stressed in this vlog, always about the rain, the wind. U live on a sailboat in England, what did u Really expect, Paradise!!! Afraid u may not find it there. Zach ur a so cool, calm like the way u just get it done mate. Just a question who is the Captain,? as I'm confused. 🌈😁
i have just found this channel and it looks good so far, only critique the title generally seems to refer to the last few minutes which you don't need to do
British weather and abandoned boat.- or perhaps include other abandoned boats in the video to give credibility. you are a MUCH more experienced youtube than me and I am way out of your demographic but I do want to see how you guys make out in your journey - good luck!
Probably should add "Tay-lee" with the double quotes on your hull. What is the make and model of the other ketch "Venetian"? Not stated on marinetraffic.
Becka, as you were venturing down into the cabin of that abandoned sailboat and located that crab to save, I was yelling at the screen, "Don't GO DOWN THERE BECKA"!! I mean no offense to Zach, but you are truly a special and beautiful young lady. I can't remember if you guys are married, but Zach better be saving for that really special ring!😊😁 Zach, I love you guys, I'm 57 so I'm old enough to be your guys Dad. But I just wish I would have done what you 2 are doing with your lives now! God bless you both.
All that rain reminds me why I moved to the med. Noticed that you do not have a kill cord on your outboard, it's really important, if you cannot retro fit one then consider making a replacement outboard a priority, and if you can afford it go electric.
Hi Mark. We’ve been looking into fitting a kill cord, we are hoping to do it over the next few months. We’d also love to go electric once we’ve got some more saved 😁
The amount of light the windows let into the saloon is superb. Makes it a really pleasant place to be. It's a shame you've decided to cross Biscay and skip the West Coast of France. Southern Brittany has some great cruising grounds. The Glennan Islands and down to Trinite Sur Mer is great. Also Isle de Groix & Belle Isle are worth a visit, going down to Sable d'Olonne. Isle de Re is worth a visit on the way to La Rochelle too. Perhaps another time. Have a great time guys.
Is that a British thing? You are pronouncing the boat name as Taylie, when we Yanks across the Atlantic would say Teulu, like in Zulu :) I love your videos : )
Becka, you seem so amazed whenever it rains. You are from England, aren't you? And doesn't it rain alot there in the fall? But your video's are enjoyable.
Well Becka, It's always so hilarious for me, your monologues.🤣 They are loaded with possible problems, hazards and what not.😱👺👻☠ And in the end none of it happens.🧐😎🤓 I think you should do a mandatory exercise after waking up: At least one listen to Monty Python's "Always look at the bright side of life".🤪😀🤗
Please get a kill cord fitted to your outboard and use it! We had an incident where my wife was not wearing the cord the engine tiller kicked out of her hand, the dog went over the side, she was also hanging out the back with her head 1 ft from the prop, we were zipping round so fast I nearly got thrown out of the boat too, managed to get back to stop the engine, and in the meantime we ran over the dog!! Went from beautiful happy times to a nightmare in 5 seconds. Luckily we were all ok but very rattled. So get a kill cord please!
Hi There. Some free Lectures and talks on UA-cam to help you get Boat Wiring etc right and Safe to proper Marine Standards, given I've just spotted your going Off Grid Video to Watch. As an Aside, I've lived Off Grid forbover 30 years. The Channel is **Pacific Yacht Systems**, and as a qualified Electrical installation engineer, it shocked me to find things I would have done, That Definitely Wouldn't have been safe to do on a Boat. As an aside, new boat for me will not have a generator, will have a properly designed and Built Rear of Cockpit Solar Arch in suitably large diameter 316 Stainless steel Welded Tubing, for up to 4 1.6mtr x 0.9mtr 300+ 2atts Rigid Monocrystalline Solar Panels with up to Two Balmar alternators on the slightly oversized inboard Diesel Engine. Note - Almost Every Rear Solar Arch you see on Yachts is done with Badly undersized Tubing, and much of it isn't even welded ! Most don't even fit a Galvanic isolator, let alone the superior Galvanic Transformer, and getting everything DC and AC Electrical Circuits right can be a Nightmare. The Arch will have room sorted for possibly a Wind generator at some point, but to make sure everything is right from the Start electrically, I'm going Production Boat because they get it right because if they don't they lose their shirts in not up to Marine Standards Claims. So everything fitted and working, or everything in its place wired in for fitting later, for example, Water Maker Not fitted first but ready to ve fitted in the USA, with enough Water Tank capacity to get there. A bit hard to do that with a Secindhand boat of course. Bob. 👍
Hi guys. Love your channel and every day is a new adventure.....and every new day is exciting. But o boy Becka, you're going to have to slow down with your speaking. This old bloke can't keep up with what you're saying. Even with CC switched on, it can't keep up. And yes English is my first language. Just relax, ease off the throttle, so to speak, and then give us your thoughts. It's not a race, you know. And yes I'm subscribed to a lot of sailing channels, including family channels, single male and female channels, including the biggies, Delos and La Vagabonde, for examples. Just relax, sit down and just share with us, what's going on in your lives. Enjoy yourself. Until next time, take care.
Hi Bryan! Becka here, I’m not stressed or anything, more the opposite- excited! It’s how I have always spoken and I do try to slow down but will make more of a conscious effort of it from now 😊
@@TeuluTribe hullo again Becka. I personally hate texting. If I was to talk 1 to 1 with you, and use the same words, you'd be able to tell from my body language, that instead of coming across as negative, as it looks from my post, I was offering a suggestion. Btw, my beer fridge is still full, and I'd love to introduce you to our top Nz white wines. But there's a catch. You will have to come down here. Cya next time. Atb.
You two really really really should get a small boat dog. Get a female mini longhair on dachshund. (Not the same behaviors as short hair doxies) They are smart. They love water. They travel really well. They are fearless and devoted and loyal. They are small dogs that think they are big dogs. They must sleep with you and in winter when cold they will sleep under the covers with you. They live long lives (on our 3rd at 18 years). They love adventures. You will be very happy. They do require exercise and love to play with squeaky toys and balls.

It is also good practice to fill the filter cartridges with diesel(or oil, depending on which filter you are mounting) before mounting it up.
Very happy with the longer video!

Great insights about the famous british weather! 😍
It does love to rain in the UK 😅
Lovely starter sailing boat there at 26 minutes, it even has solar panels. 😊
She could do with a bit of work 😄
wow .. rain plus !! You guys really need a spray dodger and a decent Bimini setup
We are hoping to get a spray dodger at some point 😊
Another fantastic episode guys, love watching you both in your incredible journey. ⛵️
Thanks for your lovely comment Stuart 😁
If you need anything please just ask 👍👍
Wow Sailor 👍
Glad yer Back…Safe & Sound👍. Any boat projects pending? A Dodger might be good if ya ever get to a “Sunny Place”😜 Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy 😎
Tonnes! We would love a dodger but just expensive 😉 it’s on the list though!
Falmouth is where boats go to die, or possibly live forever. First time I was there it was weird- seeing lots of famous old race boats you thought had been wrecked/scrapped/sunk years before, still chugging on...
When anchoring you can gurantee you drop the hook on the one piece of crappy holding for a mile in any direction. Some anchor types are incompatible with certain ground , e'g Danforth on kelp. and will hold like a greased eel in a bag of marbles...
Our anchor likes to flip over and drag whenever we are trying to set it in rivers with strong currents. However, we are slowly getting better at making sure it doesn’t flip 🙃
Another great episode, thank you for sharing.
Thanks Scott!
The second boat you guys found is what my boat looked like when I got her.
That must have taken a while to fix up 😳
@@TeuluTribe Haha, yeah. Still working on it.

Try wearing a Marigold to get extra grip on the old filter, always worked for me on car engines. Try it before you buy a tool 😉
Good idea Mike! Thanks 😊
Love your videos, Hello from Houston, TX
Glad you like them! Hi back ! 👋🏻
Such fun. Live life.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Paul, the harbour master would tell you that family in Cornish is Teylu.
Wow that’s very similar!
You could buy or make a planeing board for your outboard. I have one on a Johnson 9.9!
We’ve been looking out for one for a while now, we might end up making one 😊
Great job! What are your plans for shelter? Dodger? Bimini? It would give you some more outdoor space out of the rain!😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us 👍🙏👏😘
A Bimini is on the list of things to add. However, we probably won’t add one until our next mini refit 😁
Another well done and fun vlog. Good work.

Mark from @Wildlings Sailing brought me here!....
Thanks for joining Raul 😊
Just subbed you guys for offering Mark a cabin for a spell.
Thanks! We hope that everything works out for him 😊
Teulu in Cornish is Teylu! ❤
I see the weather is perfectly normal in the old country, the saying used to be ,it is raining or it is going to rain or if you were really lucky ,it has stopped raining.
That saying really sums up the south coast 😅
Wear a kill cord when your using the outboard, it's essential safety kit
We are looking into how to retrofit one for our outboard as it currently doesn’t have one.
@@TeuluTribe cool, might safe you 1 day. Love your vibe btw too, and your enthusiasm. Get off to the sunshine and across tge pond it's a blast

I really look forward to your weekly videos. So how did you get the name of your boat and what does it mean ? See ya next week. Oh ya get out the rain , go to a warmer and drier climate
Thanks 😊 The word Teulu means ‘a family, or household; a clan, or tribe' in Welsh. We are well on our way to warmer weather!
so much rain...sleepy...zzzZZ
So much 😅
Good luck to you guys. I admire what you're doing, but be safe and get a kill cord for the outboard....especially when planing 😉

Is that a British thing? You are pronouncing the boat name as Taylie, when we Yanks across the Atlantic would say Teulu, like in Zulu :) I love your videos : )
It's "Welsh" and "British" referring to the original Celts inhabiting that island, and Welsh being their descendants, the answer is, yes.
English weather 😱😱😱
It’s not something we are going to miss 😅
Becka, you seem so amazed whenever it rains. You are from England, aren't you? And doesn't it rain alot there in the fall? But your video's are enjoyable.
It does rain a lot, but even that was heavy for the UK 😳

Yeah we are 😊
Where are your life jackets when in the dinghy?
As there are two of us, and it was a shallow river, we didn’t feel it necessary to wear them. However, we did when the wind picked up 😊
What cameras are you using?

They are loaded with possible problems, hazards and what not.😱👺👻☠ And in the end none of it happens.🧐😎🤓
I think you should do a mandatory exercise after waking up: At least one listen to Monty Python's "Always look at the bright side of life".🤪😀🤗
Ahha that’s me, but oddly, through it all, I do remain positive in most situations 🤣

Sorry to hear about that horrible experience, I’m glad you were all alright! We have a fix for this arriving this month 😊
@@TeuluTribe yes that sh🙄t got a bit too real very quick! Delighted you are sorted 👏👏
Why are you recording the wind?
That wasn’t intentional 😊
Bob. 👍
Hi Bob, we’ll be sure to check out the channel. Thanks for the help 😁
Please PLEASE invest in a mic that filters the wind noise. Love your channel but it is difficult to watch with that horrendous wind noise.
We have- it just gets super salty for the sea air which hinders it’s ability 🙈 we are working on it!
🦀🙃😂

Deck salon Yachts please.....Not in Case of Performance... But comfort
you need a 9.9 motor on your dinghy
We probably will look at getting a bigger outboard soon ish. However, a 9.9 will weigh a lot more than our 5 😅
Stick with the 5 ...Nice and light
You would have to get sick of rain there. Time to move on?
We will be moving on very soon (next episode) 🤫
More subscribers please
Basically maybe.,... You Change your teak ro flexy teak. That would be the best change over all. Just saying
We might end up doing this at some point. However, the teak still has some life in it yet 😊
We would love a dog at some point 😍 Maybe we will find one along our travels..
Pretty lady why don’t you talk a little faster that way we are not be able to understand what you’re saying.
