THE ULTIMATE CANAL ADVENTURE BEGINS (full tour)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 чер 2024
- We’re going to be experiencing life on the canals as we navigate locks, bridges, tunnels, and aqueducts crossing from the UK into Wales.
And lucky us, we have The Canal King himself as our Narrowboating mentor. If you are a @CruisingTheCut fan then you already know we’re off to a good start!
David is loved by many for his videos, including us. But let me tell you, he is even more fun in person! We didn’t give him enough kudos in this video (we gush about him at the end of the trip) but he was a huge help in making the whole trip happen including being our taxi driver. Next time…because there will be a next time, we’ll get a bigger boat and try to convince David to come with us for the whole experience.
Watch Cruising The Cuts Video Here - • 297. American sailors ...
Hire Your Own Narrowboat - ABC Boat Hire was David’s recommendation, and he was spot on. They were incredible hosts and made the whole experience smooth as butter.

WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

What a wonderful treat to see both the Wynns and David in two videos on the same day.
never seen David so happy. all smiles.
yea its brilliant
You’d have thought it had a dishwasher, with that smile.
It's true! So much more relaxed than when he's doing his own videos. 😊
I thought that too. Must have been nice for him to put down the camera for a bit and chat with others who understand the pressures of producing content.
Such a genuine fan-boy reaction. It was absolutely brilliant wasn’t it.
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Cruising the Cut is the show that introduced me to sailing channels. It's a really fun channel given how low key it is. David has such a quintessential British presence and sense of humor. I'm looking forward to your time on the canals.
Now there's a collaboration I never thought I would see, you two never fail to surprise and delight. Welcome to England !
We've been watching narrowboat UA-cam videos for years and it has been at the top of our bucket list for at least 6 years. So glad you two got to experience it.
Aaaaaaaa😊araeA|
THE ULTIMATE CROSS OVER EPISODE
Me too
You’ve convinced me narrow boats are the best tiny house on the planet! Loved
The tour can’t wait for the adventure!
I started watching Cruising the Cut when the pandemic started. Binged it. loved it.
I'm an infrequent visitor to "Cruising the Cut", but I will be visiting soon to see his take. This has been on my bucket list for a few decades now.
You won’t be disappointed. Great content on "Cruising the Cut?"
@@davidoickle1778 I've yet to be disappointed by your channel - so my expectations are high. 😁
YAY! You DID do the best canal! My hubby and I had a narrowboat for 5-years and loved it! We Yank's love all that history along England's canals! There is nothing as beautiful or fun as cruising through England's canals, pub hopping, checking out beautiful castles, (Think Chirk Castle!) and working those locks! It's simply the best! SO happy you two got to experience our favorite thing to do in the world!!!!
Had the opportunity to visit a friend in that area a few years back, and visited the viaduct and Chirk Castle. Enchanted area of the UK.
Glad you enjoyed it, but credit to Wales, as that's where Llangollen and most of the canal is found. Castell Dinas Brân for instance, like a real-world fortress of Amon Sûl from Lord of the Rings...
I've watched CruisingTheCut for years. When I saw the opening scene, I thought, oh, now I'll get to see the canals in France, but this Wynn-David crossover is perfect!!
How awesome that you connected with David, he really does great videos on the canals of Britain.
Thank you
You just went over the top on Grooviness. The sailboat channel meets the Narrowboat channel, including David who first introduce me to narrowboating years ago. You couldn't have found a better narrowboat guide.
I love Sunday with the Wynns. Thanks so much! Travel safely ❤️
I followed Foxes Afloat on their narrow boat journey; thought it was so cool and wondered why we in the states never embraced those boats here; Foxes Afloat always had combined their journey with history of what you were seeing. My advice is just embrace the boat and enjoy it.
New York has the Erie Canal and many people living on all kinds of boats including narrow boats that you can hire . In total the canal with all of it's side passages is over 500 miles long . You can travel from Buffalo to just north of Albany as well as access to Cayuga and Seneca Lakes .
We have a few canals, but most fell out of use fairly quickly because of trains being easier to to build and run. The Erie canal is drained each year for maintenance after boating season and reopens in the spring. The old Canals like the Erie, C&O, and I&M all make great Bike trails now and can be ridden in Illinois, Ohio, and Maryland and New York.
@@kenmcclow8963 south Louisiana is full of water and yet not a one here.
I fell in love with narrowboats when we travelled to the UK in 2017. We started watching narrowboat UA-cam channels after that, and found David’s channel. We’ve followed him ever since. I think because we followed him other live aboard boat channels were recommended to us, and that is how we found you. I’m so pleased to see you both catch up.
Unexpected & AWESOME! David from Cruising the Cut? Ideal guide.
😊
Been watching Earlewrites adventures on her narrow boat last few years and on S/V Delos before that. Nice to see y'all having a good time trying new things
What a wonderful Sunday morning “double feature” with three of my longtime favorite UA-cam creators! Thank you Nikki, Jason and David for all of your video travel adventures. ❤
Fantastic!!!! Loved David's videos and am soooo looking forward to seeing the Wynns on the canal!!!!
Watched Travel Beans take a quick canal trip with their new baby. Can’t wait to watch your adventures! It looks like so much fun.
Welcome to our canals, we have a 60 foot boat and have lived on it for 2 years.... it's a great way of life. I sincerely hope you make memories forever while in our country and enjoy the whole experience.
I’ve moved to the uk from the us 10 years ago now. This is an amazing episode I’m so glad you captured this bit of British history. We have also been across the epic viaduct.
Congratulations on pronouncing Llangollen correctly. It’s very much appreciated for welsh viewers.
Just returned from a morning volunteer lock keeping to this. What a surprise!
You’ve opened my eyes to this easy going way of life in the UK. The sound of birds, cows and crickets and views from every window ❤
I've been super interested in canal cruising after watching Nick and Terysa do the canals of France, so when I looked up canals around the world that one can cruise, discovering the history of Great Britain's canals was quite a fascinating and neat little rabbit hole to fall down.
It made me hope that some of the sailing channels I am familiar with might someday do it... and so of course The Wynns were there to make that wish a reality!
I look forward to seeing this entire little series!
Living in landlocked Tennessee I don't do a lot of boating and only follow 2 boating channels, yours and David's! Been watching you since the RV and David about as long. What a wonderful surprise this adventure is!
Good morning Wynns! Hope you’re having a great day! 😊👍🌸
I've been watching Cousin Davids narrowboat travelog channel since the beginning! You couldn't have picked a better qualified guide!
David truly is King of the Cut, but typically British in his modesty.
Omg I love this collab!! Been loving cruising the cut for yeeeeears and as soon as you said narrow boat, I thought of him! How cool!!
To illustrate the speed of canal travel. When returning a 72’ boat a few years ago we were early back to the area of the marina and decided to go past and see what was on the other side (different canal). Well what we had been on was one of the more “modern” canals (for perspective still a couple of hundred of years old), where we were headed now was one of the oldest and instead of nice straight sections every twisted around the hills. Well we had a problem and couldn’t find anywhere to turn around and were panicking about returning the boat. Eventually after another hour or or so we found a winding big enough in which to turn and headed back to the marina arriving just inside our return window. Packing everything back in our car we left the car park and headed off only to pass about 90 seconds later the place where we had turned.
I love canal trips. So beautiful. 🍿 time.
This episode reminds me how I (we) look forward to you guys having a boat again.
I've hired for 23 years but the moment when you start the engine and set off never fails to excite .You are amazing x
So cool! always an adventure- Thanks guys.
Cruising the Cut was the first UA-cam channel I subscribed to. David has been described as a “National Treasure” by fellow narrowboaters. Great to see him doing some collabs with other YTers.
My only holiday on a canal boat was on this canal to Llangollen when I was 11. I'm 62 now. It's still one of the best holidays I have ever had. So peaceful. We spent a night in Ellesemere as well! I remember the Pontcysyllte aqueduct very well. Looking over the side of that trough!!
Having David as your tour guide is like having Micheal Jordan be your personal coach for 10 days. Nobody else I would want to show me the ropes of the English canals than David.
David got me following you guys years ago now nice to see this come full circle.
I am a liveaboard widebeamer love this life.
That is a bucket list item for me. Congratulations
Happily cruised the canals with David and the Silver Foxes for years. Now all three are back on land; the two Silver Foxes are thriving in Scotland. Have a great time with David, he’s a great guy to learn from.
After 7 years since you left life in a motorhome and I unsubscribed since we could NEVER afford to buy a catamaran and sail the seven seas, the UA-cam gods selected this video. Glad to see you are still sharing your life and obviously doing well. I learned a lot from your RV videos. Cheers!
I’ve been living on a Narrowboat and watching your sailing adventures for five years now. I’ve been so looking forward to this video.
lol, you know what is going to happen, before they do it. This is going to be a great series. So excited.
Life is never dull with the Wynns. Thanks for sharing...
"I want the chaos, bring on the chaos" , and "Remember, save the camera." so accurate - LOL
This is a complete surprise and an adventure I'd never contemplated, one also completely different from your land adventures and your famous ocean ones - like the thrillingly dangerous crossing where you lost your emergency life raft AND the whole compartment! I think this one is more my speed at the moment since I'm still recuperating from surgery and not back home yet. Yes, the slower and calmer pace of the canals is going to be a lovely adventure at this time.
Seing David being social is such a gear change, he's always a journalist on his own channels, pro, detatched with some whimsy interjecting of course and with a story to tell. Here he is just hanging. It's pleasant.
I recently happened upon you in Pinterest. I realized I’ve been watching you off & on for over 10 years. I first saw you on Going RV. Nice to see you’re still together & haven’t lost your love of travel. Happy Trails!❤
We watched @sailingrubyrose transverse from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic using the canal system years ago which was very interesting. LOVE LUV how well you two have scrambled to provide great content, versus other sailing channels who are also waiting for delivery of their new Catamarans…
The self-restraint Nikki demonstrated when navigating that underpass was truly impressive.... There were at least a half dozen perfect opportunities for "that's what she said" remarks!!
I remember when reading one of my Hornblower novels where Captain Hornblower and his wife and child had to travel
by Canal Boat to the port of a new ship he was posted to as Captain. Of course the canal boar had no engine and so was towed by a horse on a narrow shore path. They had to navigate through several tunnels so the Canal boat captain would lay on the roof of the boat and use his feet to push off against the ceiling of the tunnel to propel the boat. Of course Captain Hornblower offered his assistance.
That looks super fun. Nice job guys
Wow. After years of watching you are “just down the road” enjoy your time here in the UK.
Great way to start Sunday Morning again!
Did this for a week back a few years, it was great fun and I would do it again at the drop of a hat. Good to see how you both got along with it.
This is the first time I have ever heard of something like this. Talk about a relaxing adventure, I am sure I would love trying something like this. Thank you Niki and Jason!!
Good morning, happy Sunday
I love it when 2 of my fave channels merge. Just great. Thanks
Awesome! I love when my some of my favorite youtubers get together! David is awesome and a few great channels as well.
Now this is so cool 😎 I can not wait to see more of this adventure ❤
Awesome! I've been watching David for years; he was the vlogger who introduced a lot of us to England's glorious canals. So glad you found him. Have a blast, and we can't wait to watch you cross the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
Love love this! I did the exact same trip years ago, and fell in love with narrow boating! Over the past few months I have started watching narrow boaters on youtube..brings back so many great memories!💕💕
Oh, yes! Followed David's adventures and travels (including with his camper van) for years--he's back (for now).
The Llangollen was the first canal I went narrowboating on. You did well to visit off season as it gets very busy in summer. That big viaduct with the very Welsh name is impressive at any time of the year.
One of my bucket list items: Be the first view of the Wynns when the video drops. Well, hit #3 today. At least I was the first comment!
Not even the first😟 once I refreshed. Maybe next week.
You were the first comment we read and that counts for a lot!🥰
Wow, this is brilliant. I am subscribed to both channels. I live in Birmingham in the midlands UK and we have more canals than anywhere else. It was superb to see you enjoying the exerience, (especially our wonderful weather 🤣 ) I can't wait to see you both sailing again though, it fuels my dreams. Thank you.
Oh my Gosh, the variety of content that you guys have is just amazing. I was wondering what you were going to do while you are waiting for your boat but whether you are stuck in Fiji during Covid or just waiting for your boat, You two seem to make the best of every opportunity and it’s delightful to watch.
Fantastic! David is awesome. Very interesting to see y’all experiencing a very different boat life.
Nikki & Jason welcome to the UK we have been watching from the beginning RV trips, have a great time you will enjoy it hopefully the good old British weather will be kind to you both.
I started out sailing and lost my yacht in an Irish sea storm back in 2018. I retreated to the inland waterways in 2019 and have lived aboard since then. I've followed your travels for many years. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to see you on my local canals. 🤗. What a rare treat. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience 🍻
I can't believe you two are on a narrow boat in the UK, unbelievable! Enjoy!!!!
Gone with the Wynns. Cruising the cut. Sailing Zatara. My three boat channels. I love that you have collaborated with both channels.
This is so good! I am a proud gongoozler and seeing you both getting a chance to do something I dream to do some day with my family is quite a blessing for me. Being a subscriber to both channels it has been a joy to watch this amazing collaboration. Thank you all for bringing joy to the world.
Nice trip. Boat is so well furnished and neat. Enjoy.
Just came from David's channel...I lived in the USA for 20 years and I am so glad to see some good Americans in our country........
We're taking it niice and slow along the countryside. Gotta soak it all in.
Yay! So excited to see both channels film each other! Love this!
Narrowboating is greatest idea, yet, as you fill time awaiting your new hybrid cat.
Looking forward to another great adventure with stellar scenery.
So perfect! Have been watching both channels for years!
I watched David's channel for years, because of the peaceful agricultural backdrop of the canals.
Best wishes from Northern Canada.
Glad you filmed this. Been waiting for you guys to try narrow boating. Way to go
Wow! That looks sooo relaxing. I can't wait to see more. Thank you!
Love David and his CruisingTheCut channel.
Too cool you're spending some time on a narrow boat, look forward to your journey and all the beautiful scenery.
Thanks for taking us along on your narrow boat adventure going that slow in inland waterways is quite a change for you two looking forward to further adventures.
Very cool to see two UA-camrs that I’ve been watching team up for a different adventure.
I am so excited to see your adventures on the narrow boat. Love England, especially the country side. Always wondered what the inside of the narrow boat looked like, and it does appear to be very spacious. Loving it so far!!
So glad you gave narrowboating a go and how lovely that David dug dug'd along with you! The Llangollen is a stunning canal and the aquaduct is amazing. Our NB was on the Grand Union, plenty of locks to keep you busy there.
I've been curious about narrowboats and the canal life, and am very happy to be able to learn a little bit about it through your eyes.
nice! i cant wait to see the next video! i came from davids channel as ive been watching him for years now. really hope you enjoyed our canals and the uk in general. 🙂
the amount of cultures and new information and life styles you introduce to us is just amazing, simply the best youtube sailing channel for sure wish I was at the UK now to meet u guys.....
Jason your fear reaction when you first took over was most entertaining,Ty. David is great fell in love with his CTC years ago. Enjoy! This is going to fun, especially that beautiful aqua duct. 😊
Yippee!! We're so excited to see you two on a narrowboat in Great Britain! How fun, sweet and totally British! Getting introduced to your experience by the King of the Canals himself must have been fun. From the canals, you will have so many wonders to appreciate! We're excited to watch your narrowboat adventure. Cheerio 🙂
hey, welcome to the uk
Some of my favorite UA-camrs together, what a treat. You are a wonderful bunch of people. Excited to see what you think of life in cannels. Cheers T
So happy that you have decided to give narrowboating a try.spent so much time on or around the Llangollen canal you will love it.
How amazing to see you both on the canal after watching you for years sail to some of the most beautiful places. I’ve a narrow boat myself and love the escape most weekends exploring history and hidden gems of the waterways. I’m not sure when you did this but I hope you had a wonderful trip. Louis
That has always fascinated me and is on my bucket list. I have followed David's Cruising the Cut and also Minimal List for years. Lucky you.
One of my favourite episodes from you guys. David seems lovely and the three of you seem to ping off each other. Great stuff. Enjoy the mother country.
Another great episode! It looks like you’re both having an enjoyable time. Looking forward to next week. Until then, be safe.
Thank you for sharing this. My husband and I were fortunate to travel this same canal with friends from England in 2017. It was a trip of a lifetime. It brings back wonderful memories
I have followed both channels and love them both. So much fun to see you all team up, this is a brilliant episode. The difference between ocean sailing and canal cruising couldn't be more stark. I look forward to a fascinating 10 days. Thanks.
I feel like we have come full circle with you guys. We first found you from your Composting toilet video (that we bought) a few years after we moved from the UK to the US and bought an RV. We now travel the US in our Grand Design RV. All our family is in the UK and some of friends back in the UK live on Canal boats. Thanks for taking us back to the UK for just a few minutes ❤. No way we’d move back, but it’s very nostalgic watching this. Thank you 🙏
