awesome, 14 years playing banjo and I've never heard of potatoes on the banjo lolol thank you so much my friend for clueing me in, have a great day, cheers
You're the man ! Just picked up my first banjo last week, and am working on your beginner lessons. I'm fighting the urge to mess around too much, trying to stay on path! Thanks for being a great guy and putting these out there.
I was so confused at first with the potato’s, I watched this a half hour after it came out and had to come back today to try it, it works amazing with me and my friends to stay in a spot, i just had a session with my buddies, and they found it helpful too, thanks!!
@@JimPankey so I have learned Cripple Creek in you 10 part beginner series. I dont play it perfectly but working on it. When should I go on to the "next step"/song or should I stay at Cripple Creek until I have it perfect? Or i go on but keep practicing until things come together? Thanks for your teachings, your disposition makes it cool to learn.
I've been looking for exactly this information for a long time; I had no idea it was called "potatoes!" Did you know there was a racehorse named Potoooooooo? His name was pronounced "potatoes"- pot-eight-o's 😀
Hey Jim, I have a little sister who really likes stephen foster tunes (camptown races, oh susanna, etc). I was wondering if you could do a bluegrass banjo lesson for one of those old tunes.

Had to look this one up after hearing it mentioned in a few others. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on the terminology. 👍
Glad it was helpful!

You have to be happy with your current situation before you can move to the next…
Loved the collection of musicians, and the why behind them. I always used them to 'get in the groove'
Thanks

Would love to see you do a break down walk through of Red Haired Boy like Bill Keith did with a great sounding potatoes intro. Go for it Jim!

Hey Jim, thanks for another great lesson. With Saint Paddy’s day coming up, any chance you might post a lesson on “whiskey in the jar“?
I dunno, a song about whiskey might be risky. 😂
@@JimPankey 😂 well, there goes half of my Bluegrass repertoire
Great video! I just got my first banjo today and I think that this lick would be a great starting place for me!
thanks a lot!
Be sure to check out my beginner series
