I remember when I watched The Paper Chase, Franklin Ford III a Fifth Generation Harvardian met James Tiberius Hart, he invited him into his Room which was a Mini Suite which was "larger" which wasn't suprising since he came from Bank. Everything was organized to a T that would make Marie Kondo proud. His Sweaters, Bow Ties, and Shirts were all organized and folded and each day he always wore a Jacket, Sweater, Shirt & Bow Tie. I also love The Tommy Hilfiger Fashions.

Having grown up riding horses and currently living on the East Coast, the prep and Ivy style is a must if you want to look put together in the colder and warmer months, so I definitely love both classic styles! ❤️
This is why I am so thankful for my Gossip Girl phase in middle school. I rarely look back at my outfits and cringe and I STILL have a few pieces that I wear at nearly 26!
While it is not the way that I typically wear, I like preppy style due to the use of colour with structured pieces. The darker colour palette of ivy league style is very aesthetically pleasing, but not very fitting for spring and summer.
White is one of the most used preppy colors there are, so Im really not sure where you got that. In fact, the one color that is NEVER really prep is black.
Love this look! You always look chic, but not over-dressed. Investing in a few key pieces can really give you that "old-money-look". I always cringe at videos titled "how to look rich" where they advice to buy very high heels and glittery stuff, it just makes you look like you're trying too hard and people can usually tell its cheap.
I miss the 2000s for the preppy era I feel like this style is so underrated now, it's definately my favourite as you never have to worry about anything going out of style and preppy also means good quality clothing so this style saves money in the long run Also quick side note: that's a cricket sweater not rugby

I been wearing preppy sense highschool- 1975. Not because "some" say it is a way to look like $. I wear prep because I love the look! Dress because of the love of the style and how it makes You feel.
This has always been the style I’ve been drawn to even when I was as young as 5 yrs old. In Mexico, most kids wear a uniform to school and I loved my navy blue and green plaid shirt with my navy blue sweater! My absolute fave colors together are navy blue and maroon with gold accessories.
I'm from México too, and as a child I also started loving to wear my uniform while other kids hated it haha, for some reason I felt attracted to the preppy and ivy aesthetic without knowing it was an aesthetic
It does. Ralph and Tommy have such a color friendly style. Literally every color I can think of is used especially the madras blazers/shirts/pants/shorts. I see a huge come back lately even in NYC of all places.
Honestly, before watching this video, the idea of preppy style had always irritated me a bit. Afterwards, I thought about it a lot more open-mindedly, and even found myself drawn to some of the pieces because I understood them better. What an excellent explanation :)

Maybe you can opt for tennis skirts and sleeveless polo shirts. I live in a tropical climate so I always look at Sporty Preppy/ivy as a reference. Such as yacht, and tennis outfits.
I actually love preppy summer looks. While I wear black all year round, I incorporate more whites, tans, and khaki’s into my wardrobe in the summer. Try khaki, white, and navy shorts and skirts. For tops, lightweight cotton oxfords work well, especially white and light blue ones. Short sleeve polos aren’t bad either, although they’re a bit heavier

I have issues breathing, it takes a lot of confidence to speak and put myself out there as I used to be so ashamed of how I naturally sounded. If you don’t like it I completely understand and don’t expect you to. I do my best to create and hope I can get my message across in spite of this

I love polo knit shirts, the collar adds a lot of style to what is, essentially, a t-shirt. A collar frames the face, too. I’ve never been a fan of collarless shirts. (Most polo shirts do not mow have button-down collars). I’ve been stocking up on polo shirts and sweaters while they’re around, they have never been this available since the 80s. The 90s eliminated a lot of detail and tailoring from trending styles, and I missed it. I’m finally starting to see some fitted blazers, too, I refused to buy one of those huge, oversized, super-baggy ones and just waited that trend out. Blazers are one of the keys to this style, as you mention. Thanks for the video❤

I loved the Scene at 1:49 with the Young Man entering either Prep School or College. His Clothes are so neat and organized and I love his Typewriter where he did his Papers on. He knew what needed to be done.
I was definitely preppy during my university years in the early 80s and I still love this style 40 years later. I’m probably more classic than preppy now, but I still can’t resist a plaid skirt or a blazer, especially when worn together.

You should check out the (80s) book, if you don't already know it: The Official Preppy Handbook by Lisa Birnbach, it's a great, if not a bit ironic view on the preppy look. All that aside, I swear by the Sloane Ranger look, it's just a little bit edgier ;-)

I wish more young women (men alike) understood the versatility of these types of clothing items. This allows women to showcase their assets, in high contrast with today’s 90’s inspired looks and items… Buy less but better quality and invest in versatile well cut pieces
I hate it when people make it about politics or class. We know we aren't old money, but everyone should be able to enjoy this aesthetic. What is "trendy" just changes too often, and unfortunately applies to body types as well as clothes. That's why this aesthetic is so timeless- it fits every decade and a lot of body types

i live a couple of blocks from Harvard Square. Students dress down. I never see school crests though I do see people wearing a Harvard Sweat shirt and a pair of chinos though blue jeans would be even more typical. I rarely see ties and expensive shoes. I think that what is now ivy league style is based on what people wore in the 1950s at Harvard, Women are minimalistic in their dress. Come to Harvard Square and i will show you around.
No matter how old I get, I will always return to the preppy style when autumn comes around.

You should check out the (80s) book, if you don't already know it: The Official Preppy Handbook by Lisa Birnbach, it's a great, if not a bit ironic view on the preppy look. All that aside, I swear by the Sloane Ranger look, it's just a little bit edgier ;-)
I used to have that book! It might be somewhere at my parents'. Graduated HS & college in the 80s. Pink & green baby!!! I still lean towards preppy things. It's never IN or OUT of style..

I hate it when people make it about politics or class. We know we aren't old money, but everyone should be able to enjoy this aesthetic. What is "trendy" just changes too often, and unfortunately applies to body types as well as clothes. That's why this aesthetic is so timeless- it fits every decade and a lot of body types
Could you do a video on Jackie Kennedy fashion and style, Carolyn Bassete fashion, Sex and the city fashion, Kate Moss fashion.. As a 35 year old women these were my fashion icons growing up.

i live a couple of blocks from Harvard Square. Students dress down. I never see school crests though I do see people wearing a Harvard Sweat shirt and a pair of chinos though blue jeans would be even more typical. I rarely see ties and expensive shoes. I think that what is now ivy league style is based on what people wore in the 1950s at Harvard, Women are minimalistic in their dress. Come to Harvard Square and i will show you around.
