If you get value out of 60.00$ yearly roster updates and for copy/pasted game files repackaged with a new cover player then that is nobody's business but yours only. I never said you can'T enjoy them. I'm just pointing out EA NHL games are lackluster, low-effort cash grabs that exploits its customers because EA knows there are no serious alternatives for NHL licensed sports games.

As a PC user I've been yelling at EASports for years to release a new version. Trust me, I get it. "The market isn't as big." But to completely abandon that audience for this long is just ridiculous. The games don't really update each year anyways. At the VERY least realse an NHL PC Edition every 5 years. Support it still between those release windows and sell roster updates and maybe feature updates...along with whatever EA wants to sell you. I don't care what anyone says. There's money to be made there, and it's all just left on the table with no explanation by the greediest company in gaming..go figure.
One, they'd have to completely overhaul the FIFA legacy engine for an NHL game. FIFA, in Japan, where sales are always high (like basically everywhere but NA) the 22 edition sold 55% of the PS4 copies. A discontinued system with 10 million fewer units sold. Lifetime PHYSICAL sales on Switch (comparing the years they've had FIFA) are almost 20%. Lifetime digital sales? Less than 5%. Because more Switch gamers aree very much in the 'I only buy a physical copy 😜'. So, really, the total share of FIFA sales is less than 15%, despite 3.5 years and millions more consoles sold 🤷 Ok, so, let's say that the US or ANY major global markets gave a shit about the NHL. Which, spoiler, they don't. But let's say they do. You can't port the game to the Switch, it doesn't run that engine. It's why Madden isn't there either. So you port the legacy mode, and scale back to 2018 or 19. On handheld, you're scaling back to 720p (probably closer to 480p, given the game's speed), and 30fps at best. Which, for a clunky adventure game, that's fine. For a system with a subpar online set-up (it's subpar compared to every other option, that's a fact), you're basically going back to couch co-op and local MP, which would be great. More realistically, they create a Hitz type spin-off FOR the Switch, instead of trying to make a frankly massive game (compared to the NFL, which has a fraction of the playable teams, stadiums, and arenas) work for an audience that only seems to care for sports games if they can own them as a tiny plastic square. Oh, and FIFA works because they have a team of like 400+ working on it. Do you know how big NHL's main team is? Like 80. They have a hard enough time as is, making worthwhile games for consoles not saddled with underpowered tech and relentless gimmicks.
I don't game that often, but when I do it's either EA NHL or Gran Turismo, so I may not be as qualified to criticize here, but who else hopes they either get rid of chemistry or improve it a whole bunch for NHL 24? I like the idea of line/player chemistry, but the way it plays in the game is pretty crappy in my humble opinion.
Im on pc for about 3 years and nhl is the only sport game with UFC that i cant acces, as you said it is really dumb cause i would probably have bought it
PC master race. All the consoles combined don't compare to a mediocre gaming PC. All consoles in 10 years won't compare to a great gaming PC from today. It's shameful they don't make a PC version and that's why I haven't played an NHL game since 2009-10

Like i dont get it. They can release Fifa every year on pc and they couldnt released one NHL game in 15 years. Its literally the same game but different sport
As a Switch owner i agree with you 100% (the only way i can play chel is on PS3). But it's not easy porting a game made for PS5 or Series S/X (NBA 2k3 on Switch is terrible). I would love to have NHL on Switch but I've accepted the fact it's never going to happen 😂
My dad would probably buy if it was on the switch
I game on PC only. I have played NHL Hitz 2003 on emulator for the past 10 years since they wont release the new games on PC so I might as well play the midway game instead.
I haven't touched an EA sports game since NHL94... I will probably never pick one up 'til EA loses the NHL license. Thus I probably never will again. I've made it this far without giving EA a dime. My wallet is happy.
Oh wow, so cool, you decided to avoid a good game because "Big corp bad"
Big corp bad because... Big Corp makes bad copy/paste games. So yes exactly.
@@SxD1982 I have fun with the game, and I'll play Triple A games more than indie games, every time
If you get value out of 60.00$ yearly roster updates and for copy/pasted game files repackaged with a new cover player then that is nobody's business but yours only. I never said you can'T enjoy them. I'm just pointing out EA NHL games are lackluster, low-effort cash grabs that exploits its customers because EA knows there are no serious alternatives for NHL licensed sports games.
As soon as my xbox one is incompatible with NHL games ill just stop buying. I have no idea why even if you buy the game on console you cant play it from your PC like most other xbox titles.
Same dawg
Pretty sure sports games sold like a tenth as much on PC back in the day. It also opens up a whole new can of worms in terms of UI development and hardware/software configuration compatibility. Switch would probably have to be a separate team. I don't know, I don't see the product they put out and think "yeah, this is a team that could definitely stand to be spread even more thin."
@@CharlesConover Ask Naughty Dog.
@@CharlesConover I wish the consoles used Nvidia and Intel though, I don't understand AMD's numbers
And why and how come there is no genuine hockey mobile game in phone/pad app?
Let’s go love Cale and happy for hi
NHL 07 on the PSP is my second favorite game of all time. only NHL 15 was better
I only have a switch and pc and have been waiting long to get the games on there hopefully I get them this year 🙏🙏🙏
I’d go for an older edition with current players for switch
Been a while since we've seen chel gameplay on the channel lol
The fact that they don't release NHL on PC is disgusting. :(
Thanks for covering this but we need a better cover, im sorry its just so boring like nhl 21 looked way better for actually covering the cover. Its just the Bergeron cover copy and pasted and add the snow off the ice and saying its a brand new cover like it isnt. I saw a community made Jack Hughes cover and it looks wayyyyyy better.
i think EA is more so looking at market and sales vs what fans want.......because there maybe a fanbase on nintendo but would it really be worth making ?
the thing that makes me sad is realizing that its now basically been a decade since the last great NHL game came out
Looks like they haven't fixed the massive shoulder pads and the weird animations since the Bush Jr administration.
Pastrnak, 61 goals, 82 games, 52 assists, 3 goals behind the greatest player on the planet. Tell me he isn't a good cover athlete
Literally, the reason I don't buy nhl games anymore is that I am a pc gamer, and I'm just spending 500 bucks to play one game.
Anyone remember NHL Slapshot?
Look at the contract… EA can control where they want to release it. PC’s wide test market slows down development, and Switch is the slowest console.
I hundred percent agree with you
I just want to make custom logos for franchise mode. Tired of the same logos every year nobody needs a guitar logo or 1 of the dozen boat logos
The show isnt on PC.
I'm not holding out any hope for EA NHL on PC anymore... its just not happening any time soon.
They hype who is on the cover because that is the only thing that changes
Haven't bought since NHL 20. The 2K games were far superior back in the day.
They suck at making the game for the two consoles they do make it for. I don't want another thing distracting them from the quality of the game. HUT is already severely crippling the other modes because its the only mode that makes them money its the only mode they even pretend to care about... kinda.
I specifically don't buy the games because of that. I have a pc for gaming and a nintendo switch. Would buy 100% if they had it on those platforms
Can’t wait for another broken game that I’ll still buy for the new rosters 🥹
lol
This is just a small part of the plethora of issues this franchise has had for decades. But, I have to agreed that releasing your game on a console that has a 120 million+ user base is just stupid.
It’s time for first person sports.
Finally.. no choking matthews On the cover
You were right Petry got flipped for gustav lindstrom and a cond. 4th round pick in 2025
Liar
@@WillTBDud bro what it literally happened
I’ve never understood why it can’t be on pc. Makes no sense. I haven’t played an NHL game since 2015 because of that. I would buy it immediately if it was on PC.
even with gamepass i cannot play it via the cloud on my pc…truly disappointing
It's not on pc because the nhl knows that players can just make mods to add the new features
@@bti4129So is Madden, and that took an 11 year break between PC releases.
You mean people could make the game better.
@@20thCenturyManTrad yeah, they'd remove any incentive to buy the new game, EA is a greedy company, they wouldn't want that
@@marclaventure7913 You can bet your bottom dollar I'd be modding the heck out of their crappy game.
@@20thCenturyManTrad which is why it will never come to pc, they know people won't buy a new game if they can mod all the new features into the old game
Preach brother...
So, really, the total share of FIFA sales is less than 15%, despite 3.5 years and millions more consoles sold 🤷
Ok, so, let's say that the US or ANY major global markets gave a shit about the NHL.
Still doesn’t excuse the obvious bugs and broken mechanics that’s been in the games for years BAP is atrocious right now
I don't game that often, but when I do it's either EA NHL or Gran Turismo, so I may not be as qualified to criticize here, but who else hopes they either get rid of chemistry or improve it a whole bunch for NHL 24? I like the idea of line/player chemistry, but the way it plays in the game is pretty crappy in my humble opinion.
I hate the Avs but happy to see a deserving athlete on the cover
Been saying this for years, i want to play eashl with the boys but dont want to buy a console just for chell😊
Im on pc for about 3 years and nhl is the only sport game with UFC that i cant acces, as you said it is really dumb cause i would probably have bought it
If EA came to PC I'd be the first to line up and piss on it until they make a game worth buying. Games been shit for a decade.
what do u mean ps5, where is my ps4 version if they cut off ps4 now they are also losing LOTS
PC master race. All the consoles combined don't compare to a mediocre gaming PC. All consoles in 10 years won't compare to a great gaming PC from today. It's shameful they don't make a PC version and that's why I haven't played an NHL game since 2009-10
Tape to Tape >> any game left to rot with EA.
